  1. well mudflaps seem to be a UK thing... over here in Belgium I am yet to see the first Octavia with mudflaps so I can't really judge since I've never seen them irl... what I can say from pictures is that they do seem to suit a lowered car better compared to OEM hight and they look better on cars with a "sportive" look (e.g. Flybikeslee's yellow VRS) cheers B
  2. looking forward to pics... PS mine are S8 replica's 8x18 but with ET42. This ET value is also accepted on an Octavia as some of the OEM wheels have this offset. The wheels sit 7mm deeper in the arches compared to ET35 Cheers B
  3. mine never rub... but I have ET42 so the wheels sit about 7mm deeper in the arches compared to ET35 I don't know if you can still choose but higher ET value might be a good idea (depending on which tyres you have) cheers B
  4. well executed but a pity that the grille is different from the grilles in the bumpers (those have larger holes)... would have looked better if the grilles match cheers b

You can try to fill the gaps with polyester but even when it's done professionally you can easily get cracks (e.g. rubbing your bumper on a speedbump can do the trick). Only safe way is 1) plastic welding 2) make a mold of your own bumper to create a polyester bumpers in one piece my thoughts: If you're cleaning the bumpers, you should do the doors too... might become expensive I love the clean style as well but somehow I feel it doesn't suit the octavia as well as it does a Golf MKIV for example I've worked part-time for a bodyshop a while back and could have gotten everything cleaned for a fair price but I didn't do it and I am glad I didn't. I sanded the bumperstrips down till they were 100% smooth and got them painted: Cheers B

  8. had something similar, the oilcooler was damaged because the plastic "air conductor" was pressed against it... In my opinion a construction fault but skoda didn't see it that way they said I've hit something with my bumper but I'm 100% sure I didn't here are some pics, sorry for the text in dutch, I've translated it "damage to the oilcooler, obviously a straight line" "standard installation of oilcooler, the plastic "air conductor" is pressed against it" "I trimmed about 1cm off the plastic "air conductor" to prevent this from happening again" cheers B

  11. if you want to do it right, take them off and sand them down until they're smooth... if you just paint them you still see the texture (little dots) of the strips which I didn't wanted don't underestimate it though, it's a lot of work but it pays off when you see the result I had the painting done because it was in the bodyshop for something else anyway but you can do it yourself, I just painted my mirror myself and it looks perfect. Just get the colour from a local Skoda dealer, they sell small spray-can's with colour and varnish cheers b

Hi guys, some dumb*ss just took out my driver-side mirror... good news is that the mechanics and wiring are intact but the mirror and mirror cap are broken I already ordered the mirror but there's some confusion at my local dealer about the mirror cap: In my case both the colour-coded top piece and the smaller non colour-coded bottom piece are broken, the non colour-coded piece that is fixed to my door is OK. Here's a pic to illustrate (I took a photo of a Octavia II because I couldn't find a good one of an Octavia I but you get my drift) Now my question is: if my dealer orders the mirror cap, will I get the 2 pieces or just the top part? Thx B
  14. Hi, A while back I saw some pictures of someone who had an Octavia I with Octavia II RS wheels fitted, I think it was on this forum but I'm not 100% sure hence this topic (that'll teach me not to copy the pictures whenever I see something cool ) PS I'm talking about these ones: Thx guys
  15. well a 4x4 has again a different suspension setup compared to an standard one so wouldn't be good comparable. so anyone? hard to believe nobody here on the forum has a standard octavia with lowering springs... cheers B

I have no issues what so ever with ET42, still a lot of clearance on full lock and the car handles perfectly and I am a "sporty" driver A couple of mm won't have any effect on car handling, when you go "chop shop" style like our friend Leepu and use spacers of a couple of inches then yes Earlier models Octavia were fitted by default with ET42 by the way, check this out: http://uploads.jcbskoda.co.uk/doc/894.pdf cheers B
  17. change ET or tyres Switching to 225 or 215 will already make a difference If you have ET35 you should go for 7,5" wheel-width, if you have 8" width best is to have ET42... strange ET indeed but it fits like a glove and the wheels sit 7mm more in the arches which makes a huge difference. A friend of mine has exactly the same setup (18x8 with 225/40 tyres) but he has ET35 and suffers from rubbing when loaded heavily. I have no rubbing issues what so ever. Cheers B
  18. that's great news... well I guess a lot of people end up mounting golf MKIV springs onto their octavia because they're easier to come by... I also came pretty close to buying a set of those anybody any pics? I want to know if it's really worth the effort... Thx B

  20. Hi, I'm looking for some before/after pics of a non-VRS octavia with -30mm eibach springs... Also experiences are welcome... PS I've heard that with springs you sometimes have the dropped-ass-syndrome, I mean that the rear of the car is lowered more then the front, any truth in this? Thanks! B

Hi Isaac, Thanks for the reply, I'll try to explain what I want to do: I've purchased a US module which will light up my blinkers cstly around 40%... when I use my blinker I will thus get 40% - 100% - 40% - 100% etc The wire (+) going to the blinker needs to be cut and the module needs to be put in between, a 3rd wire on the module needs to be connected to any +12V (often the headlight voltage is used) This setup is normally done in the motor-compartment itself but then there isn't the possibility to add a switch to the whole thing to switch it off. Also there is a bigger risk of short-circuit is the wires aren't insulated properly Hence my preference would be to find the wires under the dash that lead to the front blinkers so I can cut them there and put the module in between If I understand correctly the seperate blinker wires (front back left and right) don't all arrive on the 2 connectors of the comfort module and I'll have to look for them somewhere under the dash, is this correct? Thx B
  23. Hi guys, need your help: where in the interior can I find the wires that lead to the front blinkers? Reason for my question is that I've bought a US blinker module but I would like to implement a switch... easiest way to do this would be if I could install the module somewhere under my dash Thx B
