Air intake location tdi 190?
Many thanks both. Reassuring that it’s so high up … have no intention of entering deep water! Recall years ago carwise barely surviving sudden extended downpours & deep water sections trying to get back to Exeter in my then B4 Passat from Bristol via rural back roads when both the M5 & A38 were impassable.,

Air intake location tdi 190?
Seeing recent flooding & pooling of water reminds me it’s a good idea to know how high up your air intake is, esp on tdi versions where given the high compression water intake would end in catastrophic failure. Tried a quick peek under the bonnet & very difficult to see below the top surface. Hoping the intake is fairly high up but confirmation of the location would be much appreciated! Did try a search for prev posts but no results.

Octavia Estate: pre or post 2017?
Yes, the Scout version would be ideal for Scotland. I had a 65 reg version & the only fault was the abysmal headlights!!! Replacement better lightbulbs made some improvement. Go for the later split headlights version & be quick, the tdi/dsg Scout version is becoming a bit of a rarity to find with low mileage! For winter weather grip have all weather tyres fitted?

Another Question - Tow Bar or Spare Wheel
Just hope your L&K is not a superb estate with 190 tdi, dsg & 4x4 config ‘cos apparently only a factory fitted (on order) towbar is acceptable. Part of the preparation includes an upgraded cooling system & retro fitting is not appropriate. So on that version of the estate a fully prepared factory fitted towbar setup is worth more like £2K plus.

Superb overheated when towing but was fine after it cooled down!
So how has it been since replacing the water pump? Just bought a 68 reg Superb SEL-Exec estate, tdi 190 dsg 4x4 only to be informed that this configuration is only suitable for a factory fitted tow bar. Apparently needs a fair bit of expensive adjustment including uprating the cooling system. And there was me thinking a great version to buy used & fit a towbar!

Skoda Superb Estate Mk3 4x4
Sadly, I understand the Scout version will not be available for the UK market.? Btw … recently bought the estate in 4x4 190 tdi dsg SEL EXEC version. Apparently if thinking of towing, they’re only available with a factory fitted tow bar, various things have to be changed, including uprating the engine cooling! So Insuspect getting an aftermarket tow around fitted may be a risk if thinking of “heavy towing” & consequential damage would nit be covered by Skoda’s initial 3 year warranty, or the subsequent purchasable extension warranty after that. on traction … tyre categories are all. 2x0 traction & 4x0 traction both are useless.

Steering wheel vibration on R19 wheels
Just got my 68 reg SEL Exec 4x4 190 tdi dsg estate with very nice looking 19” wheels & brand new Falcon tyres, Skoda dealer fitted … and yes, a discernible vibration through the steering wheel @ 70mph’ish up & down a motorway … hmmmn! How to locate one of these roadforce balancing machines in or near Exeter?

Towbar advice please
Great … not! Just got my 68 SEL Exec 190 tdi dsg 4x4 and yes, the Skoda dealer warned a retrofit would cost over £2K for those reasons. So it would seem having a towbar fitted to this vehicle configuration is not really a sensible option! Quite ironic given that all in that would seem the best spec version traction-wise for towing a larger Caravan! Maybe adverts should carry a warning or caveat, especially if the vehicle is being sold by a Skoda Dealer! I had only intended to use it to tow a small trailer around town.
