  1. There’s a thread in the octavia 3 forum about amundsen firmware that you can post the relevant images in and Pab567 should be able to send you a link to download. Hadn’t considered the fact it would be based on a facelift version now so I guess mine was probably on one of the latest versions for the car being a 2018 registration pre facelift sportline rather than the later sportline plus but guessing it’s not going to matter much. as it didn’t fix my issue anyway I may see if it’s possible to go back just in case....
  2. Last time I “pressed on” during a quick run to the shops on a 23 mile round trip I got 23.7 mpg still didn’t feel the need to use manual much though!
  3. Shy I live in one of the highest areas of the country so it’s downhill to the motorway but there’s no way around the uphill part getting back which just destroys any good work I do on the motorway to get over 30mpg. I also work 12 hour shifts days and nights leaving before 6am so don not want to spend any longer on the damn motorway than I have to hence I cruise at 80 usually to keep moving past not traffic (apart from the dreaded 50 camera zone), don’t particularly use full power acceleration much unless it’s for a lane overtake. We all just have different driving styles plus 6 gears vs 7 will put me at a disadvantage. Can’t remap as in warranty (and not willing to entertain the idea while true). my biggest problem is not resisting using the power to create a gap when someone else is sitting on my arse after the 50 zone ends...
  4. Sasha, I’d read about the Columbus units being capable of supplying a sub with some mods but haven’t seen any info anywhere as to how. Is it something that only vcp can do or can it also be done with VCDS? I don’t have either at the moment but would still be interested to know as I’m on the verge of installing the 12” sub and 500w rms Kenwood amp I had in my old car which is most likely going to involve an LC2i tapped off the rear speaker channels but a dedicated sub speaker channel would be an even better option if it offered full head unit control of level and crossover etc?!
  5. Ooh now I’m curious as I’ve just updated to 1440, what mods are you looking at???
  6. I’m curious Nick why you are using the paddles a lot then? Do you actually put the stick in manual mode or are you preempting an overtake by downshifting instead of waiting for it to do it automatically when you floor it? admittedly at the moment being a new owner I’m still trying to reconcile the drop in fuel economy and I’ve definitely changed my driving habits from the old diesel mk2 (that got driven quite hard a lot and returned around 39-41 average) to this one that I find I don’t have to push hard usually hence I’m being a bit more gentle on the pedal. I expect eventually I’ll stop caring about eco mode and fuel and just get in and drive the thing in standard all the time except when I’m feeling a bit silly and use sport mode. be interesting to see how the economy compares once I do that, I’m averaging around 29.8 long term at the moment at just under 1000 miles ownership. (A lot of my work commute is motorway miles, 28 miles each way and probably 15 of that is motorway)
  7. Quick update, nothing from the dealers in over a week (and not expecting anything either tbh...) but I found the thread on updating the amundsen units in the octavia 3 section so sent my versions to Pab567 who kindly sent back a link to the later 1440 version which I have successfully installed. unfortunately it’s made no difference to the playback issue so I’m guessing I’m stuck with that. Thankfully for me I am able to continue using my iPod classic 6th gen plugged in on the usb and play albums without gaps but this does rule out me ever using CarPlay with my iPhone. I’ll still keep the SD card loaded with albums as the interface for finding things on there is a lot better than either the iPod usb one or even the CarPlay usb and I don’t like the Bluetooth streaming interface at all as it does not seem to display album art and is horrible to navigate around. Guess I still have the option to fill my phone with music and use the plugged in car play but that’s an extra faff every time I get in the car that I don’t really want.
  8. Just to add to this for anyone who is running a Columbus MIB2.5 system like me, I sent screenshots of my software versions to Pab567 last night and he sent me an update link straight away, went from version 1163 to version 1440 successfully this morning in about 20 minutes from a class 10 micro sd card. Hasn’t fixed the issue I had (continuous playback of mp3 files for mix albums etc) but good to know it’s at least up to date so many thanks to him for this.
  9. Was that the 3.5k miles red sportline near Southampton for £23.3k by any chance? that was the only other one on the Skoda system a few weeks back when I got mine but I couldn’t stretch the extra 3 and a half grand even though the mileage was tempting. Also didn’t have the rear wiper that mine has. I don’t have the windscreen camera or canton but it does have front and rear parking sensors with camera and heated seats plus the sunroof which I didn’t want but is quite nice. good luck knocking money off, I only got £150 off a £20k car.....
  10. Love my heated seats but can’t keep them on level 3 for more than about 5 minutes! Level 1 seems nice for the 30 minute drive to work these cold mornings though.
  11. Ha is this even possible??! I quite like the sportline one anyway and for the few seconds it’s displayed it’ll do me. I had a Kenwood upgrade in my last head unit that you could load custom images too and I just ended up with the standard “welcome to Skoda navigation” one..... boring but it looked the part!
  12. Just to update on my previous comments regarding the infotainment not showing the logo it appears to be random some days it does show the nice sportline logo and other days it goes straight to playback, no idea why but at least it works so I’m very happy with this little mod. Thanks to SashaGrace for creating the thread as I may not have investigated it had I not known the option was available with a quick email to Carista (just a pity it’s only beta at the moment but hopefully it’ll make it to commercial eventually)
  13. Welcome to the 280 club , can’t comment on the dcc (though as mentioned I believe it’s standard on the L&K) and haven’t experienced the power of an s6 (very jealous!) but even coming from a mk1 octy vRS then a mk2 diesel superb (bluefin 170) the 280 is a total beast when floored so I think you’ll be more than happy for a while (apart from the economy.... ) as for the flappy paddles, my sportline has them but to be honest they are really not necessary, I’m mostly driving in eco mode but even then a good stomp on the loud pedal and it does the business and if I know I want some power then the gearstick is easy to click into sport mode and back again. I find there’s a very slight delay when getting on the power while it drops the gears etc but then it just takes off like a scolded cat with an amazing soundtrack to boot from the quad exhausts. Smiles per gallon are worth far more than miles per gallon!
  14. Seems to be a bit hit and miss for me, first time I tested it in a 30 I would’ve rearranged the back of the stationary car at some traffic lights if I hadn’t braked yet other times it does seem to pick up the stopped traffic and slow me down accordingly. Obviously when everyone is moving along nicely it works scarily well that I rarely actually need to brake myself just hover my foot over it in case. coming from the last two cars standard cruise it is a revelation for me certainly.
  15. This mod can also be done with the Carista Bluetooth dongle (requires the beta version app at the moment but it’s free and easy to get access for a month), I did mine last week and have confirmed it no longer slows me down when undertaking the middle lane hoggers on an empty section of 50 limit camera infested M5 motorway!
  16. It’s a Kenwood KAC-9106D and after reading the spec sheet it wants 65A supply so it’s battery on nothing! had a go this morning removing the battery and trying unsuccessfully to get a cable through the main grommet, gave up after about an hour but stumbled across a YouTube video of a golf mk6 install with dsg where the guy ran through the drivers footwell grommet where the clutch pedal would be - had a look and there was one in mine easy to get to and when removed I could see light with the bonnet up. Poked my old 6mm cable through for now and routed it around the back of the engine bay to near the battery. Will be picking up a new 8awg wiring kit and replacing this cable as it’s just long enough to reach behind the drivers seat so no good but as proof of concept it’ll do! dropped the glove box down and confirmed the most connector was as Johnny said so have ordered the CT03 harness as well. Think I will run the new power and switch line down the right side and a couple of RCA’s down the left side. Hoping I can hide the LC2i behind the glove box, will probably test the whole lot first by running speaker lines straight to the high level inputs on the amp before I commit £150 to that one though.
  17. Thanks for the reply JohnnyType2, I am hoping the weather holds off long enough tomorrow morning for me to have a look at pulling out the MIB2.5 unit to double check the connector before I order a T adapter and also look into the feasibility of getting power for the amp. Had a quick look earlier and it doesn’t seem like there are any obvious routes through from the engine bay to the footwell (in my superb 2 I managed to poke through to under the scuttle panel then through a grommet to behind the glove box but I couldn’t see any cables behind there on this one), did wonder if the behind glovebox fuse box would have a main feed that could be tapped off though? If it’s got a decent sized feed from the battery box which then splits down to the smaller fuses then this could be an option if I can’t get a separate feed through? I really don’t fancy removing the battery or anything else just to get a power cable through.....
  18. Thought I’d create a thread here for an issue I’m having in my Columbus MIB2.5 equipped Superb 3 as I haven’t had much response in the superb 3 section so if anyone can help or at least let me know if their own systems play music from sd cards without the annoying gap I’d love to hear from them! the original thread is here: SD Card Gapless Playback Issues there are video links showing the issue I’m having plus the software version I’m running. I’m waiting on the dealers to advise if Skoda U.K. have an answer to see if there’s maybe a software update to fix it so if anyone could advise what versions their MIB2.5 is running I’d like to know how it differs from mine.
  19. Sure I can find a way to upload a couple of consecutive tracks to try, I know they are gapless as I have analysed them with wav editing software and when pasted together directly they play with no gap or stutter at all (I used to do quite a bit of wav editing back in my clubbing days so know all about that!) and obviously the fact they play fine in my wife’s car (which I’m assuming is a bolero as it has no sat nav and only an sd slot in the glove box (no CD player or separate head unit/controller like the mib2.5 unit I have). I might create another thread in the audio section with a link back to here as well, maybe I’m not reaching a big enough audience for a response though I don’t know how many other models would have the same head unit hence posting it in the superb section.
  20. Bump..... surely someone else out there must be able to at least tell me if theirs just works and if so what software number they have???
  21. That would be cool for the vRS owners out there, pity they never made a vRS superb but then I like my 280 4x4 much more than my old mk1 vRS octy . the only thing missing for me is the fact the instrument cluster shows the sportline logo on every startup but the infotainment only shows the logo on a hard reset and just goes straight to playing music on mine or am I missing a simple option like “splash screen every time” somewhere?
  22. Got invited to beta test Carista again today after sending a debug log yesterday and they have added option 8 for the infotainment startup logo. just tried it and I now have the sportline startup on there too
  23. Called in my local dealers today and logged this with a view to them sending an email to Skoda technical to see if there’s an easy answer but would still be interested to hear from any mk3 owners using the sd card for music if the issue is there and also to compare the firmware versions of the units?
  24. Cool, good to know. How was it inferior then? I'm guessing your route would be preferable to the dealers but hopefully people in my situation can still purchase a usable manufacturer approved warranty without completely breaking the bank once the standard used approved year has expired....
  25. Can’t help on the extended side of it as I’ve only just got mine so have a year but I’m already considering going for extended when that runs out. Did you buy your car brand new Nick and then purchase an extension when the original warranty ran out? I’d be curious to know how much a two or three year one is....
