  1. Well, knowing what I know now about these EGRs, I'd argue that it is a wear and tear item, however it's all relative since yours gave up around 30k. Maybe too much city use. I'd also buy a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle and download the DPFVAG app and look at the life of the DPF. It will give you a good indication of the life it had. So premature wear I'd go with. Mine failed at 60k so expecting it to fail again in about 10k times (I'm at 98k). I know it seems like it's gone "boom" but trust me the engine itself it's probably fine. It's unfortunate I know but if you do get any money towards it I'd take it.
  2. I don't think it's the battery, I wouldn't waste any further money. You need to drop the subframe and some will remove the exhaust and some will work around it. I have replaced the clutch in mine and know how much work it take to remove the frame and also you will need to do a wheel allighment as it messes with the steering rods. If you don't have the tools, jacks, space etc... pay the money. Option 2 would be to map out the EGR for a fraction of the cost with a minor power increase. The only down side would be the Exhaust Gas Temperature will be on the high side but you will still regenerate the DPF.
  3. same here....3 times a week used with journeys of 350miles. Trust me pot luck. I know people who don't care about cars and never had any issues and do short journeys and use cheap fuels.
  4. So far I have replaced - thermostat housing - Wather pump plus belts (maintanace I guess but water pum started gashing water at 56k) - injector - front whisbone bushings - EGR - engine mounts x 2 - clutch + fly - rear brake shoes - ignition switch x 2 - sunglasses holder - Emission fix - fix...new map - MAP sensor - turbo housing dampner - high pressure fuel sensor - rear main cranshaft seal - horn I didn't include any maintanance work 98000 miles with 99% motorway only. I service it myself every 8000 miles. pot luck?

  6. Hi gang. Flashing coil light but not limp mode. I did a scan and this is what it came out. Worth saying I noticed a slight power drop, 2nd and 3rd had a nice pull, but now not so much. What do I need to replace? 1.6tdi 98000
  7. Hi guys, please help. not my car but it's on my drive now. Fabia vrs 1.9 pd with an after market silicone hose for the intercooler. One of them keeps popping off under high boost. Now, when i tighten the jubilee clip, it pushes the hose away from the coupler. Almost as it's not grabbing it properly. Makes me thing the cupler should be longer/deeper groove. See pictures. How do i stop this from happening? Many thanks Bertie
