  1. Hey skoda nerds (affectionate) I'm looking to see if someone could recommend a way to diagnose the a/c leak I have on the early 1.6 petrol. I was going to take it to a garage today for a diagnosis but they were short staffed and had to postpone. In talking to a guy at the reception, he then said they would only be able to confirm there is a leak but not where from, so not very helpful. I rang around and the UV die test is around £150, very expensive if you ask me just for diagnosis. Funny enough just last week I replaced the condenser on my honda CRV as i could see there was a leak from one of the pipes, it was a very visible mist around the O ring. I got lucky with that one, I paid £150 for a new condenser and a regas, I've done the fitting myself. Is there a way to workout where is it leaking from the a/c system? I tried the same visual method but I can't for sure say where it could leak from. The condenser seems in bad shape from all the bugs it hit in 20 years. Cheers, B.
  2. It was the coil plugs 👍
  3. Original coils. I've ordered 4 new ones and spark plugs.
  4. My 1.6 petrol roomster has started to missfire and judder under load. 4th gear low revs full throttle it judders, the power rises but it keeps cutting in and out. If I keep it in high revs then it doesn't do it as much or not at all, below 2000 it keeps cutting out. Full disclosure 145k miles on original clutch. I've had cars with worn out/contaminated slipping clutch and it doesn't behave like that. Never touched the injectors either. No lights on the dash, no codes on VCDS. Any idea before I start with spark plugs, leads etc? Thanks
  5. So an update. I'm ashamed to say that the issue was a droplink 😅 despite me prying it to see if it was intact, and the fact that it was less than a year old. After replacing the struts it was still making the same noise. I replaced the droplinks and it was back to normal. Better than normal actually, the suspension is so much better that what it used to be. I paid about £150 in parts. At 140k it was due. She lives on.
  6. Forgive my ignorance, but are they supposed to go down this easily? I've never seen this before. Sachs Struts
  7. can someone please help me again how to choose the right parts? 😅 I have been told before but I forgot how to read this and I can't find my own post. my roomster is a 2007.
  8. I'm detecting a frequent knock over the smallest imperfections in the road. I got to mimic it in the garage and I can hear it from around the strut area around the top. I don't want to buy OEM, the car is not goin to be around for more than a year or two max. Do i need to buy all of the assembly such as the thrust bearing, suspension strut storage, rubber stop or can I get away with just the struts and move the rest over? I have an mx5 which had similar knock and it was the struts themselves rather than the rubber components. Recently I have replaced the ball joints, ctrl arm bushings, tie rod ends, drop links.
  9. I'm looking to replace the front suspension and looking online for the replacement, I can see that there are various options where there are some painted dots on the coils. Mine are yellow and red. Many of them have 3 yellow and one red or blue or other combinations. All with the same manufacturer part number. Does that matter? What do those dots represent?
  10. I think you're right, I bought an M12 😅
  11. Can someone please help me with identifying the Multispline bit I need to buy to crack the bolt from the bottom of the strut open? I keep buying the wrong ones
  12. Went to see the car, pile of crap. Wasn't done to standard, parking sensors were falling out, bonnet wasn't straight, and when I asked him what's with the oil mist on the engine he said it's normal. I didn't even drive it. Gave him the keys and said good luck. On the ether hand, I bought a honda CRV MK2 1 previous owner (honda themselves) with honda FHS 91000 miles , under sealed , 2.0 petrol with a K20A engine Auto. £3800.
  13. Never ended up seeing it because I broke down on the way there, bad alternator. I will still see it tomorrow
  14. He sent me invoices for haldex, gearbox and engine service. I'll have a look at the legs and engine bay, I'm somewhat familiar with these small VW tsi engines. If I can get it for £5.5k or even £6k I'm happy. In all fairness he's got few more cars cat s yetis 1.2 for sale so he is doing something with these, private or trader. In all fairness what is putting me off is the sunroof. I read and viewed a lot of the videos and I reckon if it's not soaked inside I could probably save it, if it is, I don't have the energy to remove the interior. Thing is, I want the AWD petrol versions and I can either have the 1.8 which again, the bargepole argument, or the newer 1.4 which comes with sunroof only. I could probably afford a clean one next year with higher miles for £13k or gamble on this one for less than half the price. Wish me luck, I'm seeing it today at 10am
  15. If you look on autotrader there's only 3 for sale that are 1.4 tsi 4wd
  16. He said he buys and sells only yeties privately
  17. He wants 7k
  18. But why run away? If it's been repaired and passed MOT?
  19. Hi Guys, talk me out of this. I'm itching to buy one and I've seen this one for a while but it's a cat s. I have the money to buy it, would you buy this? 44 000 mile 4 owners
  20. Can someone please talk me out in buying the 1.8 tsi. Found one for £5,500, I'm so tempted but realistically the 1.2 is the one I'll probably ever need.
  21. what's that say? every 5min job is a broken bolt away from becoming a 5h nightmare?
  22. Hi all My Roomster is a 2007, which of these two parts is the right one for me? I'm finding it difficult to understand
  23. Skoda yeti it's basically a roomster.
