Crankcase hose for catch can
I was hoping someone knew but it seems I have to work something else out. Not really, the egr recirculates exhaust gases, this recirculates oil vapour from blowby and runs in back to the intake. So a bit like an EGR but a lot simpler. Thanks for your input 👍

Crankcase hose for catch can
It's for a 1.6tdi. The connectors pop inside of the PCV and have an O ring around then too. If I were to buy a hose that goes over it and secure it with a jubilee clip, then the hose would be too big to attach to the fittings of the catch can. I'll post a picture of what I've done. Very redneck style.

Crankcase hose for catch can
thanks for the advice but it's not what I was looking for. I was looking for hoses with that type of connector.

Crankcase hose for catch can
hey guys, does anyone know where I can find hoses that go from the PCV to catch can to inlet? I have improvised with the OEM hose but it doesn't look right and I'm sruggling to find some hoses long enough and also that fit the connections in order to reach my catch can something similar to this that doesn't cost £400 1.6tdi

Trying to avoid a new EGR

Trying to avoid a new EGR
alright, Ignoring the blue paint marks all over the engine bay and the oil on those injectors. There isn't much yourself can do if you're not car DIYing. To remove and replace this EGR valve its and intensive half the car in bits job. You're only have 3 options here 1. Take it to a garage for them to replace the valve at an extensive cost. 2. take it to a tuning company where they can cancel out the error and remap your engine. It has it's consequences down the line. 3. one of these. But you need someone to install it as it can be difficult to access the EGR https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/09-EGR-AGR-Valve-Simulator-Emulator-Plates-for-VW-Audi-Skoda-Seat-1-6-TDI-CR/183869312895?hash=item2acf770f7f:g:A9gAAOSwqPFdHF~4 I'm sure others will advise further. Good luck. P.s. that dampener is the least of your worries. Ignore that

also am I right in thinking that looks like a 1.6 tdi?

Trying to avoid a new EGR
it looks like either your dampener is cracked like mine was, or the O ring is worn out as well. That's a separate thing from your EGR issue.

AC playing up
As un update. I have repeated the test in leaving the car in the garage at idle with AC at Low and now the cooling fan has turned on, on its own. We are scheduled to have another heat wave soon so I'll be testing it again on the road, otherwise it's next year's problem.

AC playing up
Good Idea. I live in Folkestone if anyone wants to help

AC playing up
I'll have to take it to my local garage for a VCDS scan. There goes £50. Which brings me to my next question. Should I invest in vcds? I haven't got a windows laptop either which sucks. I need to go and sit on the thinking stool. ] But anyway, thank you for your help! Very helpful.

AC playing up
Q: the thermoswitch has 3 wires. Brown green, Brown blue, Brown. Which ones do I bridge? Green brown with brown?

AC playing up
Do you mean these ones too? I have to admit I have not checked the the easiest ones under the steering wheel. The rain has stopped, I will take the skoda in my garage this evening (the convertible will be out for a bit) and I'll go through your steps. Thanks again

AC playing up
I will have to read your comment whilst under the bonnet. Thanks for that info. This is the fuse I looked at, No6 (second from the right backwards) is the coolant fan? Is that right?

AC playing up
I have only jumped the fan with 2 wires from a spare battery I had. I haven't jumped the switch after coming up to operating temperature whilts at idle, I'm still to work it out how to do it. Basically I need to test the switch, then move to the next thing.

AC playing up
Guys I have checked the fan wiring, I looked at the fans fuse, I have even managed to jump the fans as the Haynes manual suggests and the fans work. I left the car in the garage at around 20 degrees celcius outside temp, with the ac set to max Lo and never once the fans kicked in. The temperature in the car was very very cold. I didn't hear anything abnormal with the cabin fans. I remember last year even when I had the fans turned off but the AC on, there was very cold aid coming still while I was moving. But when we had the heatwave I had no cold air under any circumstances and I had no overheating warnings or anomalies. Could the compressor have not turned on at all? Is there a pressure regulator sensor called G65 around the radiator area that could be the culprit? Now that the weather is back to "normal" my AC works just fine.

AC playing up
right so, I need to check the fuses for the fans, and look for any abnormalities in the wires/fans

AC playing up
They don't turn on at all when I switch the AC on. I have never noticed that with the AC on I must admit, as a matter of fact, in the 5 years I had this vehicle, I have never heard the fans running.
