  1. hi,im looking for some help please, My car died today on way to work, went into limp mode, and engine light was on solid and coil light flashing. RAC came out and ran diagnostics, they believe it to be the first injector (from the left , there are 4 on my car), he said new can be quite expensive, i explained that it is very difficult at the moment with money and costs spiralling out of control, he said I could try a used one to test, as the other 3 are probably originals anyway. Does anyone know where i can get one and to ensure its correct? mine has a load of codes numbers on top its LF22 24324 86HDDD then some other codes 03L130277b c001 SVO Also who can fit these? is there anyone in north essex that would do this for me for a reasonable charge.
  2. Fantastic , so I changed 2017, don't do loads of miles then 2 years of covid so well within its life 😁
  3. Is the engine code the vin number? It's a 2012 1.6 SE TDI cr if that helps? Would the replacement belt in 2017 paly a part on if it's a lifetime or not? Or is it to do with the way the engine works? I think will change later in year early next year for piece of mind but if it turns out it is lifetime then I guess I get more time out of it..
  4. Hello. My 12 plate had timing belt changed Nov 2017. I believe the duration is 5 years, but see other forums mention timing belts should be a lifetime part(usually talking about Europe) so what are people's thoughts? Would they change at 5 years(so end of this year) or leave longer? Also I think the battery is original but doesn't seem to cause any issues so would there be any reason to change it?
  5. I think it's mainly the angle of the car when parked. If I park with nose uphill , boot pointing downhill then the water drains out ok. But if face other way with car pointing downhill then the water stays in the metal chassis... Guess I'll just have to park uphill all the time. The hinges and cable bellows seem clear and tight. The drain holes seem clear.
  6. My car locks when pull off ((over 10mph I think) but I just have to pull the door handle twice to open it, once seems to unlock and 2nd time to open, obviously I'm stopped but key still in ignition.
  7. Yes holes cut into the metal, they appear clear. It's odd because if it was a leak around the window it would just go into the car, this is inside the metal frame of the boot.. it must be from the top somehow and collecting I just can't work out how or where from.
  8. I'll take a look. Only seems to get water when raining though. I also have found that it's actually withing the metal frame of the boot not between the plastic and metal as I had first thought. With the plastic trim off I can see the water in the bottom of the boot lid (when closed, and through window). If I raise the boot I hear the water whoosh down the side, towards the top led of the boot, then back down the side again as I lower the boot. It does pour out of a hole in the boot when I raise /lower it. Bit surely it shouldn't get in there.? I can't see where it would come from..
  9. I have had a look at some threads regarding boot water leak, and they seem to involve water in the spare wheel well, and carpets being damp, with advice being check/replace trim and check lights etc. But my water leak appears to be in the boot lid, as when i lift it i hear the water run down the right hand side behind the plastic trim. and as i lower it i hear it running back again. it doesnt seem to be a lot at the moment, but a small amount get s on the provacy cover thing that you pull to hide the boot contents. i have removed the bottom half of the trim, i cant see any visible signs of where the water would come from or get in. Naturally its dry so i cant see any water now. Anyone know if this has happened to others, and how its fixed?
  10. Hello people. My speakers vibrate a lot on anything but low level radio. I would like to replace them. Like for like but with new not used. Will I have to use identical speakers from a donor Skoda estate or are their after market better speakers I can use without having to modify the housing . I have seen some posts discussing MDF mounts which I don't really want to be doing..
  11. OK, so managed to get a look at this, the rear boot trim is indeed 2 parts. the screw under the pull handle, and pull around edges to remove the lower section, this then reveals 2 more screws (one each side) for the top section, removed that to access the light. Couldn't see any corrosion, looks pretty clean on the contacts. which is annoying, as now not sure what would cause intermittent fault, looks like will have to replace the unit, to rule that out. £40 I don't have right now.
  12. Hi, I have an mot booked in and the warning light has come on for the 3rd brake light. I checked and it was out, but a tap and it comes back on. Would an mot tester tap it? (if I mentioned it to them) ? if it was out during testing? Not sure it is a bulb unit replacement as it seems to work when tapped, so may be a faulty connection somewhere? If fails - how do I fix it? or look at tracing the fault?
