  1. can't help with the 2nd point but you've been VERY stupid with the former. Picked up our car about a month ago and the first drive was 289 miles back home(internet purchase); had read the manual prior to collecting car(wonders of the internet) and behaved impeccably towards running-in the car/components. This can be a critical part of a car's life from every aspect and the dealers can check it out at your 1st service. Just behave from now on and give the car a chance to be everything you wanted... Last car was a new Mk 2 Fabia and had no problems after running-in the engine etc properly.
  2. rather than putting something on my car I would prefer to stick something on the garage wall that would cushion the car door if I opened it too far. Only needs to be 25mm thick, about 300mm wide and 300 mm deep. Some sort of foam would do. Anyone know where you can get something like this without spending a fortune?
  3. As per the title, have a new Fabia on PCP and wonder what others have learned as protecting their investment please?
  4. he's doing some great work on behalf of us all really; I'm learning a lot from him & Junkman2000
  5. It was the first time I had ever used a clay bar and was pleased with the ease of use and 'safety' of the product. I sometimes think that i worry too much...
  6. don't worry about clay bars. Recently used a Bilt Hamber Soft clay bar outdoors on my old Fabia after feeling a few spots on the roof. Lubricated with water and done in straight lines with no real pressure it worked a treat; the roof felt like glass so i gave it a wash and dry then applied Bilt Hamber Double Speed wax. Sheds water so easily. Car has now gone to be replaced by a new 1.2 TSI SE Colour Concept model but the weather is preventing me from giving it the treatment. Will be giving that Obsession Phantom wax as an LSP.
  7. UPDATE: called the dealer a few days ago & he's advised car now here so collecting next Tuesday so 9 weeks in total. Taking advantage of 5 days free comprehensive insurance from Skoda but their quote of over £400 seems steep.
  8. Thanks for the replies, have taken on board and will not be referring to Colour Concept for insurance purposes. Looking forward to new toy ☺
  9. cannot get insurance quotes for the Colour Concept 1.2 TSI 90 that I'm due to collect next Tuesday as insurers don't recognise the car, not even Briskoda... They've all heard of the new Colour EDITION variant but are shy of quoting a Colour CONCEPT. How and where did you get your's insured please?
  10. having problems getting quotes for the above as insurers including BRISKODA don't recognise the model and won't quote; they aren't interested when I tell them that the car is basically a TSI 90 SE with different coloured roof, mirrors & wheels. Briskoda won't touch it and say I need to find out the model name from the dealer. Told them Colour Concept as per quote etc... I think Skoda have recently released a Colour Edition which they all know about. Should I just say it's a 1.2 TSI 90PS SE?
  11. lots of piccies of exteriors, could we have a look at the inside please?
  12. anyone think i would need a DA with a brand new Fabia(delivered in factory wrap)? If you think yes i would, which machine would you recommend; have watched a couple of youtube videos and am quite happy that I could use one without damaging the car(would practice on old car first). DAS-6 range look a safe bet.
  13. Thanks Sparkly & MozzieOwner, I don't have a DA so am now thinking that I might skip the clay bar stage; have got a citrus-based tar/glue remover on order so with that I should have everything I need once the car gets here. I'm looking at having the car transportered up with the factory wrap still on, there seem to be one or two firms that do this.
  14. VERY well spotted BTS22, new baby will look nice!! Thank you.
  15. can i ask if it is non-slip or do things move about on it whilst underway please? I currently use a loose rubber mat with the checker-plate pattern in my Mark II Fabia but that doesn't have the upstands.. This one looks very tempting...
  16. should be picking my new Fabia in the next few weeks and am thinking of detailing it myself, asking the dealer to leave the factory protection on. This raises a few questions for me:- 1 Will the original factory protection survive a 250 mile drive up the motorway and not attract the 'bizzies'? 2 What will I need to get the glue etc off the car? Never seen a car before the dealer has 'prepped' it so don't know what a car looks like straight from the factory. 3 Have got UF snow foam, BH soft clay bar, BH Korrosl, BH Cleanser Fluid, 2 buckets with guards, lambswool & MF mitts, BH Auto Wash, BH Double Speed wax, wheel sealant(C5), lots of MF cloths of varying weights. Also have a sample pot of Obsession Phantom wax but can't see this doing the whole car(was hoping they would do an offer over Easter but they didn't). What else will I need? Car is Metallic Moon White with black roof, wheels & mirrors. I'm retired so time rich but although i have a garage it's not big enough to do any work in; but the car will fit overnight. Any guidance greatly appreciated.
  17. have downloaded it now, just have to wait a week or three for the new toy
  18. Thanks for the replies, the dealer knew what I was trying to achieve but maybe they haven't used Smartlink & Android Auto themselves. Am happy now that it will work. ☺
  19. Thanks dorsetnod but I already know that Mirrorlink won't work with Motorolas, it's whether Smartlink is already activated on the car at time of delivery(don't say it's an extra); I don't believe that Smartlink is sensitive to the make of mobile, but not quite sure.
  20. ordered 23 Feb & been given the car's VIN this morning so I assume now built; just need to get it here now
  21. Folks have a Fabia Colour Concept arriving soon and have a Motorola Moto X Play mobile which I intend to connect to the head unit via Smartlink and Android Auto. I want to use Google Maps & music apps. I emailed the dealer who advises that the mobile isn't compatible; surely he is wrong. He's given me the chassis number and the Skoda website doesn't show Motorola mobiles, but I thought that via Smartlink it didn't matter. I thought the problem is with Mirrorlink. Do I need to ask them to switch Smartlink on or is it on by default also? TIA
