Proper name for an o ring under a rocker cover…
Wench replied to Wench's topic in General Maintenance
yes 12-b? I have no idea if it was called a fancy name, so I can give to the main dealer to order the part! -
I no longer have my Skoda, hence very short on posts in here recently. However I have found that people in here have been much nicer and more helpful than the lot in Vauxhall forums. as I’m sure this is a pretty “standard” name for the item… Replacing rocker cover gasket on my diesel mk4 astra. Haynes manual says to also check “o-ring on underside of (rocker cover/cam shaft) the cover”. Google doesn’t give much away, and ideas what the real name for this part will be so I can get one? (Item 12 in photo)

Can anyone recommend a decent/trustworthy place to send a key fob for refurbishment? I used a really good one a few years back, found their website again a couple of months ago, and now for the life of me, I can’t find it again. granted it’s not for my Skoda, it’s for my Astra. The rubber lock/unlock buttons are very worn, and I’d like them replacing.

Thanks very much. I’d ideally like to get the car taxed over Xmas hols otherwise I (Presume) I will have to wait for a new log book to arrive, then spend a fortune on train fares getting home to pick the car up

Any thoughts... so my SORN car needs taxing. Local post office can’t do it so I didn’t go to the bigger one a few miles away. came home to do it online, and it doesn’t work. Found a logbook, old blue style one. Oddly it has an 11 digit reference number, and from what I can see online the blue ones are meant to be 12 digits. Phone doesn’t work either. id be sure that I updated this blue logbook to a new one, and that I sent off for change of address. Long story but new logbook cannot be either round (due to house move) or it’s got lost in the post. (I work away from home so the V5 is easily forgotten about). However reading online if I’d got a new red log book the blue one should have been sent back to DVLA any suggestions? Clearly I wish I’d gone to the bigger post office today and will be doing so first thing tomorrow. Are they likely to be able to process it?

Is a car stood for couple of years likely to be ok?
Wench replied to Wench's topic in General Maintenance
I will still have it next year, unless something goes horrendously wrong. the one small advisory will be fixed ASAP -

It passed with one very minor advisory. -

Thanks. I’ve got new wiper blades to put on it before it goes to the garage (no point it failing an mot on that or paying more than I need to for a set!) the garage know it’s been off the road for a while, so most of the above should be covered by the service -
Can someone take a photo of trim underneath back seat?

They have snapped in various places as well... The one above is currently bodged up with a bit cut out of an old rubber car mat -

Alas I’m not sure that I can get away with doing that, the garage is literally just around the corner. Don’t think the police would be best impressed if I’d gone slightly off route to get to the Mot! -
Ok so it’s not a Skoda, but this is the “most relevant” part of the forum I could find. 04 Astra, unfortunately has been SORN for a couple of years. Was garaged until April this year, on the driveway after that. I’ve owned since new, always been well maintained. Battery has been charged, and engine left to run occasionally (I’ve been working away from home and family looking after the car.) She’s going in for service/MoT next week, hopefully get her back on the road. however all I’ve got is my mother wittering and whinging at me that it will have fallen apart and will be no good any more. is mother likely to be right? (I clearly know how long is a piece of string!)

Thanks... looks considerably smarter than mine! i tried gluing it on to the foam... the rattling appears to have stopped! -

Mine is a bin end bog standard... unless the seats have come out of something more upmarket -
Bit of a strange request, but can someone take a photo of the plastic trim underneath the rear passenger side seat... photo of mine below. my car has been making a loud/annoying rattle from the rear passenger side for ages. I thought it was the parcel shelf bracket. Replaced that today, which appears to have made some difference, but still some noise there. ive taken the back seat up, and noticed the plastic trim underneath the seat isn’t attached to the foam/tucked under the seat on one half. Just wondered if anyone can send a photo of theirs to see if mine is normal or broken!
