  1. Happy Christmas all!

Looking to use my VAG OEM microphone that is already installed with my new aftermarket (Sony) head unit... the sony has a 3.5mm mic in... and the skoda one is on the proprietary VAG connector... The Sony unit does come with a microphone that I can use - but my god is it big and ugly looking!

I was wondering if there was a way of adapting the connector on the end of the VAG OEM mic, to a 3.5mm plug, so I can use it with my new head unit? Does anyone have a photo of the connector, or know the pin out? I assume it is just a plus/ minus/ ground (common) - but being VAG I could be wrong. If that is the case - I can just chop the connector off and attach a new one on...

    Any help would be appreciated!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas day!

  2. Hey all,

Got a bit bored of my Admunsen+, so I am going to replace it with a Sony XAV-AX3005DB which has Android Auto..

A have a couple of questions though:

    • I need to plug my phone in to use Android Auto - so I need to mount a USB socket in the cabin somewhere to avoid a trailing cable. I am looking at mounting it in one of the blanking plates next to the gear stick... has anyone done this before?
    • The new head unit has DAB... but my car doesn't have a DAB aerial - is there a way to use the existing aerial?

    Any help hugely appreciated!

  3. Ah okay. Thanks.

Just out of interest - the GPS SD card is for offline maps, is that correct?

I think having a sim card dongle is probably neatest - having to hotspot my phone every time I get into the car seems a bit dull...

To confirm, all the other steering wheel buttons work?

    Many thanks,

  4. Dear Noddy,

Thanks for all the pics... it does seem to look very neat :)

The folding mirrors are a concern... how annoying... I couldn't like without those; constantly parking on streets that are narrow and having to open the car to do it would be a little irritating...

Is there a space for a sim card, or is the wireless access point the only option for data connectivity?

  5. Hey Noddy,

Thanks for this... how did you get on?

I was actually more thinking of a head unit that will integrate with the skoda systems, but also allow me to use Android Auto rather than having a unit that runs android... however... the one you have found does seem interesting!!!

  6. Dear all,

Random question - I have electric seats in my Superb MK 2 62 plate. I have a memory panel on the drivers seat, but the passenger seat just has a blanking plate... is it possible to put the memory buttons in?

    Told you it was random.

    Many thanks,
