  1. Okay. So it's clearly some sort of issue with the data connection... I tried connecting the car to my house Wifi, which I can view traffic from devices... Nothing at all coming from the car or going to the car, even during the sync bit (which clearly does do something... As some settings are applied, but I'm not sure how those are retrieved...) I tried creating a new user and registering, but, same thing, swirling loading screen... I live in a rural area, so I'm wondering if the esim is trying to do something, but can't because there is no signal... I barely get internet on my phone over 4g... And the esim is probably 3g... Anyone else got any bright ideas?
  2. Sat in the car now, have managed to get out of the doom loop of constant sync of a profile that doesn't want to load. Did a factory reset, then added my user again, it seemed to sync okay, but becoming primary user still fails. I have been sitting on the attached screen for 20 mins... I'm going to try another factory reset and then to create the user on the car itself... See if that has any more luck... Other than that I'm considering looking at using a different key as I think the users are tied to the keys?
  3. I clearly meant USB stick, not SD card...
  4. Right. So. Updated to 332. I was about to do a factory software reset, but this dialog popped up and I can't get past it, everything else is greyed out... I've done a few restarts locks unlocks etc and now I'm just leaving it a half hour to see if that helps.... I think a factory reset is probably the right thing to do...(?) i just need to be able to get to the menu! Thanks @travs for all your help. I have a big SD card arriving from Amazon for the maps.. so that'll come later. One step forward, one step back!
  5. Thanks! All downloaded and ready to try! I'll report back 🙂
  6. Thanks! @travs A couple of questions before I start: I assume I can use either the USB in front of the gear selector or the one in the arm rest? Do we think that this might solve the issues I am having with primary user? Very grateful! I'll definitely report back! G.
  7. Right. So. The plot thickens... I did a factory reset as suggested. Weirdly, the first time I did it, it retained the users that I had set up... I then did it again and it deleted it leaving me with only a guest user. I logged in to create my user and the same thing is happening, trying to become the primary user just doesn't work, it just says "loading" and never loads... I wonder if it's a software update thing... Attached is a pic if the version I am on which I fear is the most up to date.. Maybe I'm just gonna have to go to a main dealer and see what they say... My closest main dealer is Kidlington, Oxford... Last time I used them they were staggeringly unhelpful... Maybe they have improved... Next issue, Android Auto. After the factory reset the USB C forward of the gear selector started passing data. I have a AAwireless box and a AAwireless 2+ box... I decided to give the 2+ a go as the other was being a bit temperamental... And I'm having the same problems with that... I have been in touch with AAwireless themselves, let's see what they say... But good news that the port is passing data again! I have noticed that the car seems to sometimes require me to select Android auto from the options of AA and mirrorlink... I don't care about mirrorlink, can I disable this somehow so the car just autostarts AA? Having said all of that, even though I don't have all the settings dialed in etc. I'm loving driving the car, just need to get all the infotainment nonsense sorted... Any help hugely appreciated as always! Thanks, G
  8. Thats a good idea..! Why didn't I think of that... Thanks @logiclee! I actually have three keys.... Is that weird?
  9. Sorry for all the spelling mistakes in this!
  10. Yep, happy to stick wothua dongle, I've had really good results from the AA wireless box with my last car,so as long as I can make that reliable, it'll be absolutely fine. That's odd about that port. It doesn't seem to have any date aspect at all... When plugging my phone in it just charges, and when plugging the AA wireless box in it simply doesn't work... No lights, nada.
  11. Hi all, Picked up the car today. All went smoothly. As predicted I have some niggles... The car doesn't appear to have wireless android auto, it pops straight up when I plug my phone in, but I want it wireless. I have a AA wireless box which worked perfectly on my old car... But it seems very temperamental with this car... I think it's something to do with the USB port always being powered... I have changed some settings on the AA wireless box... Any pointers welcome. (It's plugged into the usb in the central arm rest section, the usb c in front of the gear selector seems to be (slow) charging only). I haven't quite figured out how to see what software version I am on... Which specific line am I looking for in that factory menu? I can't seem to get skoda connect to work... The car gets stuck on setting me as a primary user. Which is a bit annoying... Any tips? There will be more questions! I appreciate all your help so far, and in advance! Thank you! G.
  12. Quite right @OccyVRS, literally everything has some issues... @logiclee, that sounds super annoying... Glad it's not that often that that happens! Picking the car up tomorrow!
  13. Hi All, Travs - you're totally right. I'm sure I can navigate my way around any software issues - especially with everyone on here being so helpfu! I have been a user of android auto since it was released - and it was absolutely AWFUL on first release, so; I'm used to niggles like that! I wonder if AA is more stable than CP... Penpusher - Thanks for the info - I'll be using waze/google maps for nav through Android Auto anyway :) Looking like I can pick the car up on Thursday! So, looking forward to getting into all the settings! Exciting! Thanks, all!
  14. Ah, so it's mostly based around the phone... Gotcha.. I can deal with that, I'm used to a sony aftermarket with wireless android auto which was somewhat finicky to say the least! I'm sure I can manage the occasional freeze.. tech is tech huh... At least there are mostly physical buttons and none of this haptic nonsense that all the big OEM's are now backtracking on! The headlining looks clear, I'll see what the garage say about history of clearing the drainage holes etc. Many thanks, all.
  15. That's great to hear logiclee, thank you! The car has been serviced by skoda as recently as Jan this year, so hopefully it's as up to date as it can be!
  16. Thanks for the clarification JR RS. I would say that it's definitely MIB 3 then. Do you know if there is a specific software version that I should be looking for to try and reduce these issues? I would assume (probably wrongly) that most of the niggles got ironed out by the end of MK3? I have agreed to purchase the vehicle... There must be thousands of vehicles with MIB 3? Also, I'm assuming that the wired carplay/aa is from that USB-C just forward of the gear selector? Many thanks for all your help.
  17. Ah, yep. It has the USB c in front of the gear selector... I'm a little worried now, thanks for pointing it out... Catastrophic worries me... Is there anything specific I should look for to mitigate risk on that?
  18. Ah - thanks :) Forgive my ignorance - what is "bad" about MIB3? Yeah - I thought that about the wheels - I don't mind though; they're hopefully going to be comfy, and they look good too :) I went to see the car yesterday - it's lovely!
  19. Hey rgrigsby, Thanks for your reply :) Weird, huh! I have no idea if it has lane assist - I'd be happy if it didn't to be honest... How do I tell if it is MIB 2.5? I had a look in the glovebox; it has a blanking plate which looks like where an SD card reader/DVD drive/CD changer(?) might have been... Mine is on 17" wheels I believe - I have no issue with smaller wheels - they ride better!
  20. Sorry - should have said - it's the 1.4 hybrid IV model... I assume it's a pano roof - it seems to go back a fair way from the pictures!
  21. Evening all, I'm going to see a car tomorrow - it's a 2020 L&K combi, the body appears to be post facelift - but the steering wheel isn't... which is a bit odd... Two things - Should I be looking out for anything else on a car that was manufactured right on the cusp of the facelift? If I got to the point of purchase - and wanted to swap the steering wheel for the newer style; is that a thing? (I know that the FL L&K has things like a heated wheel etc... which might complicate things). Also - the car has a sunroof - I know that there have been leak issues, is there any tell tale signs that I should look for? All thoughts welcome! Thanks, G.
  22. Thanks all... Yeah the response from Skoda UK is attached. It seems that skoda recommend it is a life time part - but I guess if you walked into your local dealer and asked them to do a timing belt change they are not going to turn down the business.. It just seems mad to me that it's not a recommended change...
  23. I heard back from Skoda... They say that the timing belt is a "belt for life"... As a person who has driven a car when the timing belt failed 10k miles before it was supposed to I'm sceptical... But that was 20 years ago...
  24. Okay. So basically I need to be lead by my mechanic re timing belt changes?
