  1. Hi,

I'm sure you're going to check for rust but I'd look carefully at the very front of the sills where the front wing meets the door. Seems quite common for muck to get trapped behind the arch liner and eventually cause some corrosion.

I also don't think there's any warning lights for the haldex - mine didn't seem to have one anyway so definitely good to look for codes. It should again have been serviced - I think every 40k off the top of my head.

I'd also check if it's been used for towing and if so, the state of the rear shocks and springs. Also check it breaks in a straight line if you get to test drive it.

If it's L&K it may well have the powered boot. These seem very prone to failure (just have a search) and the parts alone are expensive out of warranty if you want to get it working again.

     Hope that helps a little!

     Cheers,

     Steve

I did have a think about this but I really don't need another big car at the moment... so I guess this Superb is still available 🙂

Looks Lovely I hope this is still around in a few months

Thanks for the kind words Trev. I really need to move it on sooner than that though.

I'd much rather sell to someone here and it would be ideal for someone who's got the time and space to work on it themselves... 😉

    cheers,

    Steve

  4. Bump - had some interest but it's still available. Some additional info based on the questions I've received.

    • It doesn't have a panoramic roof or heated front screen.
    • Never been smoked in during my ownership and can't see any evidence it has ever been smoked in.
    • The is no cam belt on the VAG VR6 engines they're chain-driven with no replacement schedule.  DSG and haldex oil change last done in 2019 on 114k.
    • I've never had to top up the oil in my ownership, never had any suggestion from checking the dipstick or from the garage the level was low.
    • I've added coolant once a few years ago - never found a leak and never gone down/alerted again.
    • ISOFIX in the rear

Just last month (Feb 2024) had a replacement spring on the front driver's side so both front springs have now been replaced in the last 12 months.

It has two keys - both work fine. The key in my pocket has had the cover on it in the photo so they're in good condition.2 keys

I've got almost all history from my ownership. I realised going through it I'm missing a report from the service at Statller's in Sheffield in 2019 which is annoying.

This thing looks "superb" I'm very interested in this car, i've really been after a bigger skoda to my fabia and this looks so good. Is there any more information you could provide? Any work needed to be done to it like cam belt or any mot advisories??

    PM'd

Only current MOT advisory is a stone chip on the windscreen which has been there since 2020 at least but only appeared this year!

    Make & Model: 2011 Skoda Superb mk2 Elegance v6 4x4 DSG Estate

    Colour: Blue

Mileage: 137500 (will rise as it's being driven 2-3 times per week)

    Price: £4000

Description: This is my Skoda Superb with the 3.6L v6 engine that I've owned since 2016. 1 former keeper.

This has all the standard stuff you'd expect from an Elegance-spec Superb - electric windows, mirrors, climate control. Full black leather interior with electric heated front seats, dual zone climate control, driver's memory seat. Cruise Control, DRLs, Xenon headlights, TPMS, multi function steering wheel, the usual Maxidot display.

    - 'Columbus' head unit with working Bluetooth unit - works fine with modern iPhone for streaming music and making calls. Also has voice command support.

    - Full set of heavy duty rubber Skoda Superb mats inc. rear transmission tunnel mat purchased from Superskoda not long after I had the car

    - Rubber fitted Skoda Superb boot liner

    - Currently running on winter wheels - 17" Dezent with Michelin CrossClimate Plus tyres fitted September 2020

    - 2x keys

Additional bits not currently in/on the car included:

    - Original 18" factory wheels powder coated silver (will need new tyres)

    - Wind deflectors (not currently on the car)
    - Original used carpet mats included

    The not so good parts:

    - The bonnet was re-sprayed by the main dealer as part of the conditions of sale when I bought it. That has bubbled and is looking quite poor, in contrast to the rest of the car. There is no rust on the bonnet that I'm aware of.

    - Powered boot went from sometimes temperamental to rarely works whilst parked up during covid. I have bought replacement boot struts plus the rubber bungs to fill the holes removing the electrics would leave which will be included.

    - Due a service

Condition: Mechanically good, no damage to seats etc.

    Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work:
    MOT until late September 2024

Brand new Varta battery fitted 20th January

In September 2023 it had the following:

    New front discs and pads

    New rear coil spring

    N/S/F Bottom Arm

In March 2023 it also had a new front spring and top mount.

Prior to COVID, in my ownership it was serviced and maintained at Statllers in Sheffield.

Receipts and worksheets for all the work carried out in my ownership, fully stamped up service booklet.
    Extras:

    - Paddle shifters for the DSG

    - Front and rear parking sensors

    - ParkAssist

    - Ski hatch

    - Witter detachable towbar. This was on the car when I bought it, turns out it does not have the module to talk to the ECU so can only be used for something like a bike rack which is all I've ever used it for. Not aware it has ever been used to actually tow anything!

    - KESSY

Mods: Only the refreshed front and rear badges

Collection: Yes - located in Derbyshire, close to J26 M1

@phazed in the reply editor, as you go across the icons just above, you should see <> 😀 [gif] 👁️ then the bolt. If on a mobile then it's possibly just off screen, rotate to horizontal, click it, then go back to portrait.

FYI this doesn't seem to work in Firefox on iOS. This is what I see:

Hopefully you got the issue sorted? Quite interested in the ODBeleven - which pack did you go for? Have you done anything other than read the codes with it? (Sorry for the slight thread hijack :) )

@DrCorbyLee My issue is actually the opposite, my beams seem very high... for example when driving home last night I was behind a tall transit van and the top of my beams were about half-way up where his back windows would be (at a rough comparison id say it would be roughly in line with the top of a standard cars roof.... its quite clearly lighting up the road well ahead of me... I was suprised no cars coming the other way flashed me thinking I had full beams on... or is this just standard for these cars?

That sounds too high to me - I'm struggling to picture how far mine throw light now (although there's a huge increase when switching to high beams on mine) but I am pretty sure they don't effectively shine "through" a normal passenger car in front which it sounds like yours would? I thought this sounded somewhat familiar and sure enough a similar thing came up last month - take a look in this thread:

Also, w.r.t. question 4 in your original post, I don't have the answer re: if the columbus can support what you suggest but I'm curious - are you thinking of using something like this with your phone? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202044

  10. Hello,

My v6 is similar - the DSG in D is referred to as 'lazy' by the garage I've used and I'd say that is a good description.

I've not had it done as I decided I'd just use the flappy paddles but I think you'd get more out of having the DSG flashed than anything else. I think someone else on here has it done a few years ago. I'll see if I can remember who!

     Cheers,

     Steve

  11. Hi,

I've not had one of those myself but I've been on this site long enough to see the posts from others.

You might want to make a cup of tea, sit down and have a read of this:

Of course you may have a different problem but the oil usage sounds similar to me.

I can't help you through the problem (I've never had the 1.8 or 2.0) but I think what I have learnt is that you should try and document everything, email the dealer rather than phone (or follow up phone calls with an email) etc.

     Cheers,

     Steve

    The deed is done!

Today I removed the electric struts. and fitted the gas struts. The boot lock works fine and the boot cover retracts as before, even the remote on the key and the switch on the dash releases the lock.

The only problem was removing the cover to access the wiring connections, tried it on the one side but just cut through the wires on the other. I left the wiring grommets in place to keep the water out. All seems fine so far, no warning lights , fingers crossed 🤞 .

Thanks to everyone for their ideas and support.

So this sounds like you didn't need to get an automotive electrician involved or do anything with the lock mechanism to get it to shut properly still...?

    Cheers,

    Steve

  13. I thought I'd close the loop on this one to say thanks to everyone who responded, I splashed out the Victron IP65 Smart in 12V 10A guise in end. After nearly 20 hours charging across 3 days it was able to restore the battery to what seems to be full charge, which I was doubtful it was going to be able to do initially! 😀

Really pleased with the unit - seems really well put together, the cables are well made and the connect system so you can swap crocodile clips for another attachment, insert extension cables etc is nice. Unit is also somewhat waterproof apparently - I declined to put that to the test! I was a bit sceptical about the Bluetooth connectivity (unit is clearly aimed at some more static or marine applications I think) but it was handy given the time it took to charge etc. It meant I could monitor what it was doing and get some reassurance it was actually charging the battery etc. without having to go and look at it. Just sat near enough my window whilst working that I could check the status on my phone every so often

Anyway, thumbs up from me for the unit. On to the next problem not moving for 19 weeks has caused...

    Cheers,

    Steve

  14. Hi there,

As a fellow v6 owner with the equivalent of ~193,000Km on the car, I can only really hear any whining noise in your video when you're in 1st gear, and mine also makes a similar noise in 1st, especially when you lift off the accelerator and engine braking starts. I've covered ~80,000Km since I've had the car, including having the Haldex and DSG fluids etc changed according to the schedule and it's always been there.

Has yours had the haldex and DSG oil changes according to schedule? That would be what I'd look for in the service history to start with and get it done if it hasn't been.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  15. Morning,

Has anyone been able to successfully charge an AGM battery from below the "magic" 10.5v successfully? If so, any charger you can recommend? It sounds like most smart chargers won't charge an AGM battery that's too low on charge. Bit unclear why this might be - either it thinks nothing is connected or could the battery have been damaged?

Bonus points if you've done it on the v6 - the owner's manual that came with mine largely ignores v6 and/or AGM batteries exist.

    Cheers,

    Steve
