  1. Hi, My problem solved. Managed to get a second hand pump (after two false deliveries) with a 3 month guarantee. The biggest problem was getting the back seat out, but once I figured the ISO seat fixing removal it was a doddle. Pump replaced and is very quiet, thank you for all your posts. Smudger
  2. It's definitely noisier when I put my ear to the back seat, so it is the pump in the tank. Is it an easy fix to change the pump? It's just on of those things that finally gets to you. I agree it could stay like this while I have the car, but what if it packs in when I could well do without.
  3. Started looking through previous posts for this problem but gave up. I bought my Octavia Elegance TDI CR (2013) 3 yrs ago with this fault. When I turn on the engine I can hear a whirring sound, it's not very loud and isn't noticeable whilst driving, it doesn't get any louder. When the engine is turned off, the whirring sound carries on for approx 3/5 seconds then shuts off. Is it the fuel pump or something else? My local garage mentioned it might be air! My car is due an interim service at Skoda (the same price quoted as my local garage £179) I am considering having the fault finally rectified but they are saying a new fuel pump from the main dealers is in the region of £220 for the part only. I tried to identify which pump I needed from on-line so I could consider buying there but I couldn't trust myself to get the right one. Anyone got any thoughts on the matter?
  4. Hi Folks, I've just bought a nearly new 63 plate (66k miles) Octavia 2.0L TDI CR (150ps) Elegance Hatchback. The lift pump sounded a bit noisy on start up, a constant whirring sound, which carried on for a few seconds after turning off the ignition before it shut down. I thought I could live with this (as part of the deal) but it's starting to get to me as time goes on. It's not getting any worse, it's just that when I'm in a queue or lights it's annoying. I had a quote from a Skoda garage of "about £320 fitted, including a seal". With just buying the car things are tight pennies wise, any ideas? What are the actual parts I need and is it a DIY possibility.
  5. Hi Ghaida, I have just bought a 63 plate Skoda Octavia with 67k miles on the clock. The very first time I took it onto the motorway the temp shot up very quickly into the danger zone. I contacted the dealer and he made inquiries for me. He reported back that there is a Technical Data Sheet out on a water pump problem. Apparently the new design has a sliding collar (mechanically operated) as well as a stat. The collar sticks when under pressure. If your car has the same design, check with Skoda and you may get lucky. I was fortunate that I took out a warranty when I bought the car. Good luck
  6. I didn't list the problems because I thought I would be directed to an Octavia section, so here goes. When I am on the motorway and picking up speed, the acceleration flattens out and I have found that the only way to clear it is to turn off the ignition, which clears the computer, and then it is OK! I have had it into a tuning garage and they said they couldn't cure it, but they did clear a sticking "gate" in the turbo! Another annoyance is that there is a whistling sound, the pitch going up and down when I accelerate, almost like a police car following me. Any ideas please?
  7. Hello all you fellow Skoda owners. I own a Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.9L 55 plate and need some advice on one or two problems
