In most of europe, cars turning into a side-street do not have priority over pedestrians or cyclists & often have to stop in the road so for me the system is working correctly here.

You are taking a chance that the car will move out of the way by the time you reach it, knowing that 95% of the time they will turn into the street & all will be fine.

Even if the system recognised indicators it would not be able to predict if the car will turn into the street & you would obviously complain if the system allowed you to hit the back of the car because they stopped.

Really in this condition the system is correct & you are drving too close to the car in front.

Jesus - nearly 2 years and I've only just seen this reply !!

Thanks for the driving lesson - I had no idea how to drive my car properly until I read this :x

I think you misunderstood my comment regarding indicators.
I'm not talking about recognising the indicators of the vehicle in front... I'm talking about MY indicators.

If I'm indicating to turn around a corner or change lanes, it's annoying that the front-assist doesn't recognise that A: I'm actively in-control of my vehicle since I just made a deliberate safety signal, and B: I'm possibly going to be coming pretty close to the car in-front in order to perform the maneuvre I've indicated.

Yes I agree that there will always be occasions when safety-systems don't account for EVERY posible on-road scenario, but that scenario is pretty common throughout the world.

  2. I can confirm you can program up to 5 flashes, but I find 5 to be too many, so I've coded mine to 4.

99% of the time, they work with 4 flashes, but occasionally, they revert to the factory 3 flashes all on their own.

A shutdown/restart of the car usually resets it back to my programmed 4 flashes though.
No idea how/why this occurs, but it's so infrequent I don't worry about it any more.

He's spent less time logging in and typing his question than you have replying, that's for sure.:D

    I type fast !!!

It's just totally unnecessary for these stupid queries to come up ALL the friggin time.

"How do I turn my radio off"....
    "What is the clip for"....
"How do I put my car into gear and drive"....
"How do I have sex with my wife"....

    I mean FFS, really ? :@

  4. oh my god, are you all seriously responding to this?

    RTFM dude......

Sorry for the bluntness, but queries like this are just laziness.
These forums are a great source of information when there is something wrong with our cars, or information on aftermarket parts or repairs are required, but a simple query like this doesn't deserve to be answered.

Read The Fukn Manual.... your car should have one.
And if it doesn't, just google it.

The amount of time you've spent logging in here, and typing you question as a new thread (and clearly haven't used the search function either), you could have simply typed it into google and had an instant response.

    EXAMPLE CLICK HERE

  5. I'd be interested in the long-coding/adaptations used to adjust this?

I've driven FL models and liked the way the rear-image stays on screen for a few seconds (so you can ensure you've closed your garage door, or not leaking fluids as you drive away, for example)
But i hate the way my pre-FL model only stays on screen WHILE in reverse gear. As soon as you move out of reverse, the screen has gone.

  6. This thread here will help.  It shows how to remove the A-pillar trims, and you can see the sunroof drain tubes running down the pillar.

Note: when I wrote this thread/posted these photos, I didn't know what those coloured tubes were, and I've incorrectly wrapped my dashcam wiring around them, to keep it all neat.... but I'm pretty certain I didn't wrap the tubes tightly, so I hope I never have a leakage issue, as it will mean unwrapping all that wiring again.

Not sure what you're supposed to do to unblock them though..... I can only assume they get filled with leaves, dirt and crud, to not sure how the mechanics unblock them.  Perhaps some long stiff plastic hose of a smaller diameter.... or some form of chemical clean, that you would use in a bathroom sink (done very very carefully) ?

What version of the app are you using?

I’m on 2.88 (Jan 24 2019) and do not get any adverts.

Interesting..... I've checked and my version 2.87 22-Jan, says it's the latest version.

Where did you get 2.88 from?

And they've messed with the app connection, so even when I rolled-back my version to the previous one, it does an immediate check with their server for latest version, and won't let you do anything unless you update to the newest "ad-ridden" version :(
    GRRRRRRR

Anyone have a hacked apk they can share somewhere, which overrides this check with the Blackvue server, or removes the damned ads?

..........should state that I bought the car from another dealership with a third party warranty....

ahhh... well that's a totally different story then!

You MAY find you're not covered at all, in which case the question of cost is a sore point.

BUT..... as mentioned, the petrol series of engines are notorious for failed waterpumps and oil mixing with coolant (I've suffered this myself, in week 2 of ownership from brand new)
I'm not sure on the diesels, but as  you've found, it seems pretty common too.
So yes - embarrassing that the dealership hasn't yet identified a cause, when there's so much anecdotal evidence around...... but hey, your car may be something entirely different and new.

Hope you get it sorted soon mate. It's a shame, as these cars are pretty awesome.

So that's 2 in a million.... the odds are slowly stacking against the dealership mate.... stand your ground... DON'T pay out of your own pocket.
There is clealy an issue that is NOT your fault.
These engines are KNOWN for failing waterpumps.... not sure how the exhaust isn't showing up burnt coolant, but something is definitely not right with your engine.

..............i have a warranty however it doesn’t payout on investigation..only when a part is required..........

On what planet does a warranty NOT cover the investigations into the cause of a clear issue?

CLEARLY you car has a problem, and if the manufacturer's trained technicians cannot identify the cause, that should NOT be at your own cost.

If I were you, I'd be making VERY clear to the garage that you won't be paying them a cent, because  your car has a clear issue, and it's covered under warranty.
And if they refuse to assist you, take them to whatever the small claims/consumer affairs department is in your country... because I'm pretty sure you would have one.

  11. Perhaps downgrade to the previous app version, which didn't show ads, then mark the app NOT to auto-update.

That's what I'm about to do... as I also find this friggin rude.
After paying AUD $650 for the front/rear combination, and setting up a wireless hotspot in my car, for immediate notifications, it's pointless having to wait 15seconds to view, when I get an "impact detected" notification..... you know how far an offending vehicle can travel, in 15seconds?

  12. It just goes to show....... you should ALWAYS insist on any filters that have been replaced, be clearly marked with the date and km/mileage of the car, at the point it was replaced.  It's a basic maintenance procedure used in most industries, but apparently, not common in automotive.
Then there's no question it's been done, when they can point to your new oil/air/cabin filter, with a date clearly marked on it.
And always ask to see the old filters before they discard them.

If we ALL did this when we drop our cars for servicing, it would eventually become a normal accepted practice. And the couple of seconds it takes the mechanic to do so, is NOT enough for a service centre to argue that it's costing them money in labour, to do so.

Look at the back of the car in front.

The adjustment is to lower the lights when the boot has been heavily loaded, not raise them. You can't raise them any higher than the legal maximum. Without the adjustment heavily loaded cars would be driving round with their dipped beams high in the air.

Fair point... I hadn't thought fully about it, and forgot that you're lowering them, not raising them.

  14. Mechanics/Technicians have to follow the prescribed service methods as detailed in the workshop manuals. There are no workarounds for things like this - if there were, then Skoda/VAG would know about it, and would use that as the default method of performing these services - no business is going to recommend a 3hour procedure, if it can be done in 30minutes.

As mentioned above, get the service manager to demonstrate exactly how they managed to perform the service, without removing the battery/tray, as you've indicated.

I now have them set somewhere above the middle setting, so probably dazzle oncoming drivers a bit, but particularly since we have moved to the country being able to see further in front is more important to me

I have always found these user-adjustable headlights to be dangerous. How does the average Joe know whether their lights are dazzling oncoming drivers?
Self-levelling headlights are a godsend.... but a driver being able to just randomly select their own level arbitrarily (and then forget about it when they unload the boot), is just dangerous.
Surely this is a violation of the compliance laws/driving codes in whichever market the cars are delivered?

.............. I asked the sales person if it had automatic headlamps and they said yes.................

^^^^^   This is the biggest concern I have with this entire thread.

You asked the salesperson about the car that they should know about inside and out, and they've clearly mis-informed you - and now you are considering paying MORE money, and possibly causing damage/voiding warranty, by messing about retro-fitting it yourself.
I realise salespeople are allowed to make mistakes, and also they are allowed to NOT know every intricate detail about a vehicle. But they work in a sales dealership... with LOTS of information available to them at an instant's notice. If they didn't know the answer, they should have said so and confirmed it before telling you yes.
This isn't a $400 TV... it's a $40000 car, and included features are a big part of how/why customers choose one model/brand over another. (Hell, I'd even quibble with the salesman if my $400 TV didn't include the features they told me it did)

Get someone else to "randomly" enquire about an identical car and see if the same incorrect information is supplied. Then go talk to your salesman personally, and then bring it to their attention that a BIG part of the reason you bought the car, was for automatic features like wipers & lights, which you (and your random anonymous friend) were informed were present.
If nothing else, you should be able to negotiate for the DEALER retrofitting & coding these functions, which will NOT void any warranty and shouldn't be any cost to yourself.

I went through a similar experience with a factory-supplied extended warranty as part of the sale, when I purchased my car. But it wasn't written on the contract, and Skoda tried denying that the extra warranty was offered.
Luckily, I had screencaps of their own website, which clearly advertised it as such, on the date I purchased my car.
Weeks of messing about and emails back & forth with Skoda head office, and I've now got a document clearly indicating my extended warranty and a correct end-date.

If we - as customers - just bend over and accept being shafted by our suppliers, then nothing will ever change.
Stand up for your consumer rights.

  17. Don't you need to advise the VIN to the insurance company?
Surely they would know the exact model/spec, from the VIN..... if not, they just have to contact Skoda, to confirm the 220 or 230 model.

Other than that, the model numbering is deliberately very confusing.
    The RS162 is 162kw the "220" model (I think 220HP)
The RS169 is the slightly higher rated 169kw model, also known as RS230 (or 230HP)
The RS181 (in keeping with the TRUE naming convention, but NOBODY knows this model as RS181), is the model everyone raves about which is commonly called the RS245.

The naming convention (I believe) was deliberately done this way, so people who were buying a traditional RS162 thought they were paying all that extra money for a MUCH higher output model, when they bought a RS230...... thinking it was nearly 40% higher output... when in reality, it's only 4% higher.
The same with the massive power difference of the "RS245" compared to the original RS162.... in reality, only a mild 11% increase, versus the 51% you "think" you're getting.

Clever marketing.... or deliberate false representation?
    You decide.

  18. Your description is identical to mine (MY16 pre-FL) RS (Australian delivered)

Apparently it's a known/common issue with the dealers here - something about insufficient grease in the lower control arm bushes, if i remember correctly. Or something similar to that.
Mine sounded like a 1970's Valiant, just turning corners slowly in my housing estate - creaking and groaning and the occassional clicking noise.
The dealer "said" the fixed the issue, by applying more suspension grease, but it hasn't fully fixed it, so they either didn't do the fix correctly, or there's another issue in play here.
Asking them to re-check at the next service, coz it's annoying as f*** on a 2yr old car.

^ This..... but in reality, it shouldn't ever have to get to the point of advising the inconvenience.... having to go to the dealer for any warranty/fault issue is an inconvenience, none the less after 3 attempts.
