  1. You can't tap into the boot lights since they are also canbus controlled... Good luck with the instalation! I've got it all in place except for tapping into power.
  2. Right, back at this with some time to finish this off... I see your point - however, I'd rather not have my relay sitting in the trunk. It's a much harder place to service should it ever need this... I'd rather have it inside the rear left wheel arch. So... Any idea where how the rear wiper power cable is routed through? I'm assuming it goes down in the wheel arch but after having looked for a bit today, I can't find it.... Been googling this for a while now too. The idea would be to tap into it somewhere inside the wheel arch.
  3. Fair enough 👌 will give it a try when I have the chance 🙏 Thanks for the explanation 😁 I admit I'm not an expert... Only a simple DIY enthusiast 🤦‍♂️ My + and - wires from the camera are already drawn to the rear lights area and the grounding above the wheel arch. I'm hoping the + for the wiper is in the vicinity of the OPS module or that rear wheel arch.
  4. Isn't that also controlled via canbus? So similar to how the reverse bulbs and OPS module is...
  5. Hi all After successfully upgrading my 2007 Octavia from PDC to OPS, I figured I might go all in and install a backup camera too. All wiring and cables have been pulled except for 12V ACC. It looks like the camera will have trouble feeding off the reverse light wire while the engine is running. So right now, with + connected to the backup bulb wire, it will only work while ignition is on. It stops working after yuo turn on the engine After contacting the seller on ebay he suggested I need a 12V live feed rather than a 12V canbus so I made a test with my old car battery, hooked the camera up to that instead and sure enough it now works also when the engine is running. So now I need a switched 12V power source at the back of my car... Despite being a full-option vehicle, it's not equipped with a 12V socket in the trunk so I figured I need to fetch one from the fusebox. A quick visit to the fusebox reveals I have no spare unused slots. I took a multimeter to test all empty slots and they're all dead... what to do?
  6. For newcomers who attempt this, I recommend you follow the instructions of these 2 threads: I have just done on my 2007 Octavia with front and rear factory fitted sensors and it works brilliantly. What I can add to the existing knowledge here is: No need to find a Golf OPS module, one from an Octavia with the same sensors setup (front & back or just back) as your car will do. I have used 1Z0919475E If you can't find new wire terminals to solder everything into a single termninal like the guys are explaining, simply reuse one of the existing sensor wire terminals. Example: Remove 3 of the 4 sensor wires, carefully cut away some 20 cm of the wiring loom textile cover, solder or use connectors to join the wires at least 5 cm away from the termination of the 4th one. This way you reuse the termination of one of the 4 wires when joining them. If you are doing this alone, se a chair to test the sensors and the beeping while watching the display. Remember to code your new OPS unit for trailer support if your car is equipped with an original tow bar. Find a trailer to do a quick test and ensure the car goes into trailer mode and rear sensors are disabled while the radio shows the right animation with a trailer. A good spot to stick the front buzzer is just behind the headlights switch. I glued it with a strong double sided tape. Remove the plastic trim below the steering wheel by popping out the decorative trims, the light switch and 5 screws if I remember correctly.
  7. Attempting to follow this on a 2007 pre-FL Octavia Elegance. The car is equipped with front and rear sensors and an RCD330+ radio where I would like to get the sensors to show up. I plan to share the results here once finished.
  8. Hi - don't want to highjack your post so I have sent you a PM with a question about this.
  9. Hi guys. Upon doing the last oil change, I noticed there's some oil covering part of my turbo. I got a picture of it as seen from below but since the car drives fine and it pulls like a train, I doubt it's coming from the turbo itself.... Is there anything above the turbo that has the potential to leak and make the oil drip down on the turbo? 2007 - 290.000km - original turbo.
