  1. Actually my current car the vw bora is 1.9 tdi and a 130 Bhp .....guessing hardly any power difference between them ... the more I read about the 1.9 Skoda's .. the more I like ..... I have made contact with a garage about a poss purchase and px for one so fingers crossed a deal can be done ... thx for both input
  2. Thank you for your valued information, I am putting the last car down to bad luck and a really poor garage and apologies for my frustrations ..... I am possibly going to see an Octavia elegance 105bhp on an 06 plate with 79k on the clock ...two owners and reported full history with cam belt and w pump having just been done ...advertised at 2799 .... I was a little worried about power as I travel around 60 miles a day but on reflection with traffic as it is these days ...better economy is good and the sixth gear I would only really use on motorways so five speed not really an issue .... what sort of costs are involved in remapping to 140bhp? And I'm guessing converting to solid flywheel is pretty much same cost as replacing a dmf?
  3. If buying a tdi octavia ... Pros and cons of 140bhp 16v .... To .... 105bhp 8v ??
  4. And again!! I'll repeat myself .... the bag of **** is back with the garage and I am receiving a full refund .... do they use vag software ...do they hell..... I bought a car I thought was good ..... it's not .... end of ,,,,,, and do I have the means and know how to service and repair cars myself .,,, do I hell .,..... would I buy a car from jo bloggs that he's serviced himself in his garage over one with main dealer history ....would I hell ..... dmf easily replaceable ..... yea ..... anythings replaceable with a wheelbarrow full of money!!! ..... I tell you what .... you go have a go at the guy I bought the car from ..... the car that's under warranty .... the car that I have no control over what so ever as to where it's repaired .... I came on this site for a bit of general advice as I hadn't a clue about any of the issues .... I'm sorry mr ****ing perfect that I didn't buy a brand new car and then service it meticulously myself so as to know all the right parts were used .... maybe I'll go and buy myself an electric ramp and vag diagnostics for future use!!! One thing is for sure though..... I no longer own a bloody Skoda or want any assistance from you!!
  5. The one I own ( up until Monday) is in the dealers garage in bits .... he has told me he cannot fix it and is issuing a full refund!! And what are your on about a better looked after car ....... it had full service history ..... it even went to the garage for a tail light bulb if it ever needed one .... I've never seen such a comprehensive history as this car had ... that's what attracted me to it .....
  6. Look.... I agree ... the engines can go for 3-4-500k with regular maintenance.... egrs.... turbos....injector looms... dmf....clutches .... electric windows ...... don't seem to last like the older cars .... and the car I bought was previously owned for eight years by an old couple who maintained it regardless of cost ....every receipt for every bit of work done on the car was present ....so I naturally thought.... can't go wrong ...l. And the bora ...... not had a service or cambelt.... anything in 100k ... yet not a problem .... so you see my view of older being built to last and more reliable in things like dmf/clutch etc ..... who knows ..... maybe I'll go for another Octavia ... it's not that I didn't like the car.... I loved it
  7. The 2002 vw bora is not the same as a mk11 Octavia ..... vw themselves advised against buying the newer generation vw's with the money I had available as so many components need replacing around the 100k mark .... ie dmf/clutch ....700 quid ...not a cheap repair ....the older generation cars were built to last a lot longer .if I thought the Skoda badge was a cheaper less reliable car ......why the bloody hell would I have bought one .... I bought one because I heard they were good
  8. ....Reading through many posts on here I've seen many many times people pointing out modern cars have a life span of the warranty and maybe a couple of years ...ie 100k .... I've never owned a Skoda before but do know that my 2002 vw bora has had less wrong with it in 10 years and 200k than the Skoda had in three weeks! I'm sorry but it does not fill me with confidence
  9. UPDATE ..... I am perfectly happy with the advice thank you .... the garage put a new slave on the car... put it back together and said it's worse .... can hardly select first or reverse and idle issue is back .... a full refund is going to be given and my 200k bora back on the road for the time being until I can find another car ..... will it be Skoda ..... I doubt it as most seem to want to point out that 100k is the life span of a Skoda and with my limited funds it's pointless .... so maybe another pre 2005 vw but with lower miles than mine is the only option .... they are less complicated and more reliable in my opinion
  10. I'm perfectly happy with the advice thank you and a full refund is being issued and as so many point out .... 100k is the life of a Skoda .... I shall look for a brand that goes beyond 100k as I'm not in a position like many to replace cars before they are 8 years old .... my last car I've owned 10 yrs and put 200k on the clock with only 3 air mass meters in that time as repairs .... but this was a pre 2006 vw built to last .... maybe I will go for an older, less electronic better built car that's got less miles than mine .... actually when looking at passats ...a friend who works at vw advised getting pre 2006 as they were the great cars and there does seem quite a few mk1 Skoda out there in great order
  11. It was a 2.0 pd ambient in beige .... company called accelerate cars ... guy called Dan .... he's giving a re fund and some compensation
  12. So to clarify lol .... the car I bought ..... had a new cam belt and water pump upon collection, full service history, new egr, new injector loom, new dmf, new clutch, new master cylinder, new slave cylinder and peeps are 100% I should get my money and run .....and maybe even buy another Octavia ...... I know one thing for sure .... if I get my money back.... I won't buy another Skoda, put off for life I'm afraid and all the parts above seem to be an issue around 100k .... especially the dreaded dmf ...... I'm thinking Volvo next .... lots of v50s out there at reasonable prices and they seem built to last
  13. Suggestions on what to buy for the money then as Skoda it would seem are only good for 100k before self distruction takes place??
  14. The cars only done 95k and got full service history and I only have 2k to spend replacing my 200k miles vw bora which had no issues in tens years owning
  15. Some who have read previous threads of mine will see I bought a 2004 tdi 140 Octavia a month ago .... since then it's been a nightmare but under warranty.... engine light came on going home.... had to do an 80 mile trip back to Bristol to get egr valve replaced (back to base warranty) .. then we have a bad idle fault where it seems like it's misfiring .... back to Bristol it goes ..., guy put a injector wiring loom on it.... no difference .... I'd also had brake issues and the clutch not disengaging properly ..... so they then diagnose it as dmf, clutch and slave cylinder ... they fit the parts thursday and tell me all the issues are resolved but the guy is 'to tired' to bring my car back at the agreed time ..l. We re arrange for 5pm Friday ..... at 5pm Friday the phone rings ....he's still in Bristol!!!! Saying when he went the car in the morning .... the clutch pedal was on the floor.... they spend three hours and two broken clips replacing the master cylinder which made no difference and have now decided that the new slave they fitted is faulty ...... the guy has offered a refund .... should I take it and run or stick it out for a car that's potentially loaded with new parts if it's running right???
  16. Ok .... So the garage say they have fitted dmf... New clutch and new slave.... They say idle fault is now fixed due to dmf .... Then this morning they are telling me the clutch pedal is on the floor!!! Grrr so they say they replace the master cylinder, breaking two clips and taking three hours!! Does not fix the fault .... So now saying the new slave must be faulty ARRRRGGHHHH and would I like my money back.... NO, I want a working car... I could honestly cry
  17. Yes, they said dmf ... clutch ...and slave being replaced
  18. The cars under warranty and 80 miles from my house, they did a cambelt change before I bought the car ...ten miles into owning the car the engine light comes on ....diagnosed as egr valve....replaced and no engine light now...... car runs rough at warm up and even at normal temp if revved to 1100rpm it's like a washing machine full of clothes going around under you ..... garage claimed injector wiring loom ..... replaced and made no difference ...... now they are saying it's down to the dmf that the car is running rough and when replaced ...clutch and slave will also be done
  19. I've been told injector wiring looms are prone to failing ....that will cause rough running
  20. Car is back with the dealer as there is also an idle and misfire problem .... have today been told it is all down to dmf, slave and clutch and that all are going to be replaced
  21. Working fine now .... the other day ...within five seconds of being on ,,,was re directed elsewhere
  22. Car is currently back at the garage where they are trying to fix an idle miss fire problem and they are supposed to be changing brake fluid and giving everything a good bleed .... last time I had the ... when cold and first move off ... put it in gear and when clutch is released (very slowly) it grabs suddenly like it was stuck and banged with release ..I did pump the clutch then and it was better but then had this strange click type noise every time I pressed the clutch until it had warmed up
  23. Hi all, doing this on my phone as it appears now every time I go in briskoda on my I pad .. The page is hacked or something within seconds and I am re directed to the App Store page ... Anyone else having trouble via I pad??
  24. Mine has a terrible idle at warm up and then when up to temp a slight miss but no fault codes ... It's under warranty and the guy I bought it off reckons it will be the injector wiring loom
  25. Hi all ....just wandering if anyone has had to have the injector wiring loom replaced on their car and if so ....what were the symptoms that led to it needing to be replaced?
