  1. Hi Guys, Just wondered if any of you had an experience with lowering your Octavia. Its a non vRS so is higher than normal anyway. Its currently on 18's too. I'm just trying to get rid of the arch gap a little. I had considered coil overs, but I'm not interested in adjusting the height once its set, so just springs, or even a spring and shocks set would do me fine, I'm not looking for anything extreme in terms of lowering either, i dont want to loose half of the tyre inside the arch... I'd just be happy for some advise on anyone who's already lowered their 5E and how low they had to drop it to loose the arch gap. Cheers

  4. As long as there is no thick metal between the GPS and the sky, then it can go behind the dash, just make sure there isn't too much electrical equipment above it, as it could affect the signal. It depends on the dealer and their fitting charge, but i'd imagine you'd be looking at somewhere around £1000/£1100 Maybe cheaper in some places though.

When i removed my old exhaust to try and fit the new one, i had to cut it out, because it wouldn't bend or maneuver freely, frustrating, because after the new exhaust didn't fit, i had to weld it back in place. I dont think currently that any manufacturers makes an aftermarket option for the non vRS model, probably due to the lack of demand, Apart from getting out the angle grinder and the welder, and a pipe bender or going directly to a manufacturer for a custom, one off system (like i am) there doesnt look like there much option for us non vRS boys :(

  7. I came to fit the exhaust a couple of weeks ago, and turns out the underside of the non vRS is quite different to the standard Model. The axel set up on the rear of the vehicle is alot different too, which causes problems.... Im booked in with Milltek development dept to have a look getting one custom made for the car, so hopefully in due course they may introduce a system for the non vRS.

The stalk controls still work as expected, obviously relevant to the pioneer functions but the data info in the instrument cluster is exactly as it was previous. the audio menus still display the relevant stereo information and all the vehicle data is accessible in the same way. The audio functions of the steering wheel are controlled primarily by the left hand buttons whilst the right buttons control the vehicle data menus (same as previously) The only thing that you loose is the mobile phone contacts list from the cluster display. If you wish to find a contact you will have to do it from the pioneer screen, which is just as easy or even easier, use the voice command function to call a contact I.e "call Alan" using the voice activation button on the steering wheel because the voice control will use the voice control on your phone, it doesn't actually work, unlike my experience with the OE system. happy to help
  9. Unfortunately there is no SD card facility so it it USB only. One USB can be wired to the port and one can be fed to the glove box as in my case this may give a little more info. Head unit wise all the vehicle data is the same although it's a different image. And on the cluster display itself all the original vehicle data remains, I'll get a clip of this at some point too.
  10. Appradio support in all honesty is not very functional at all any more. Years ago, when it was first launched, app developers were really excited to be able to incorporate their apps into Pioneer products, it was one of the first app integration but as times gone on, they've lost interest in providing support, resulting in a very limited app selection, and in turn a rapidly decreasing number on consumers using the function. With connectivity options like CarPlay and Android Auto, again, resources with these app developers have been put elsewhere. With this in mind, and the constraints of the unit size (to fit into the cars with out modification) the Appradio mode function was removed from these EVO products.
  11. This consists of an add on module, that gets installed inline with the OE systems wiring, allowing for the navigation to be displayed back to the OE display. So all your original equipment will remain intact. You'll have no additional sound improvement, as nothing is changing with regards to this, it will just add navigation to the original unit. They are good options, if your happy with the original equipment, but lack the navigation, and of course Kenwood use Garmin, which is a pretty solid navigation system, I work for Pioneer, and we do similar add ons, but use different mapping providers. Just to throw a wild card into the mix, depending on your budgets, you have alternative options to replace the original equipment itself, in which you'd gain functionality and audio improvements on top of the navigation bits for example http://www.pioneer-car.eu/uk/products/avic-evo1-oc1-mtb All depends on the key functions for you really, if its just the nav, then you cant really go wrong with the Kenwood upgrade

Yes thats basically correct, so just to round up: The OE unit (in the glove box) and the screen in the dash come out. the main loom, will adapt the vehicles wiring to fit the Pioneer, which enables the main unit to be plugged in. 2 options for the microphone - 1. You can use an adapter CA-MIC-VAG.001 to keep the original Microphone, this adapter plugs in along side the stereo loom and means you dont need to install a pioneer microphone 2. Run the supplied Pioneer Microphone GPS- this needs to be installed, although it can be located directly with in the radio aperture, so there is very little involved in this. USB - the USB panel in the vehicle needs to be unclipped to allow the wiring to be swapped for the Pioneer wiring in order for it to continue functioning.
  14. I did check with the engineering team previously, and apparently it doesn't yet, with the provided loom. However looking at the Alpine interface that's needed to integrate the Canton system, it should be compatible with our product also, All it does, is take the speaker out feed from the headunit, and convert it back to optical to feed the Canton Amp, so with some very minor modification (splicing the speaker outputs from our loom to the input of the Canton adapter) this should be compatible for the Pioneer solution also.
