New car
So in November I was in a non-fault collision and my 17 plate mk3.5 vRS was written off as a result. I recently found a hyper green mk4 vRS TDI but it went before I could purchase it due to the distance from my house and work π’ I really like the colour so begs the question, as most of the hyper green cars are TSI do I make the switch to petrol or continue the hunt for a hyper green TDI? My journey is mainly motorway and a normal round trip is 40 miles which is why I have always chose diesel! What are peopleβs thoughts? I appreciate this will have been asked and answered before.

Shock Absorbers -Question
I have had my service done today and been told that my NSR shock absorber is misting. Can someone please advise how I can look for the price of a new shock absorber so I can tell if the price I get quoted is right? Plus if I wanted to lower my car would this impact on which shock absorber I was to choose? I have a MK3.5 Octavia vRS estate. (Apologies for the dealer photo, it's all I can add at present)

@e-Roottoot for me the DSG is a very different to my manual and having never driven one before will take some getting used to, but I'm happy! I'm finding the auto start/stop a little frustrating as I had more control over it on my manual but I suppose this is something I will get used to or learn to control better. The sport mode and/or paddles, definitely give the same buzz as a manual. Thank you @Darm definitely enough space for the pram. The rear of my seats are leather, however this car has alcantara supports so fabric not like in my old vRS that were leather π²

Thank you all for the great comments. Finally collected it today after having a few minor bits buffed and touched up. @Stuart-h would love a remap. You never know what the future holds π Fortunately @FUBAR there wasn't any used Dragon Skin Green Superb 280 Sportsline going π€£ @phil7 test drives at present merely need your drivers licence. I test drove my car with my brother present and the sales guy didn't come with. So if there's a car you fancy or can get a test drive in then go for it.

Battleship (steel) grey sounds like a great colour! Any pics? Hopefully I get the same positive compliments as you did! 'acquired taste' green π€£ I like that.. Race blue was what I wanted for my current car but buying second hand one wasn't available. Like the red I ended up with though. Can't wait for new car day now though. The auto is just so different, in a good way, I can't wait! My wife has point blank refused to drive my new car (bad experience in an auto). However she only drove my current car twice in 4 years and that was off the drive and down a small hill so I'm not too worried π€£ Phil, go for the DSG! For the 10%, that's were the tiptronic (flappy paddles) come in! You control the gear changes for your little bit of fun!

Tbh I've only test drove the car at the moment so can only comment on around 30 mins of driving. It was a little weird at first, the car doing the gear changes and my left foot doing nothing but after a while I got used to it and enjoyed the drive. Definitely going to feel the benefit when stuck in traffic. It will all depend on what you want from the car, where you drive to and from and how you like to drive. I do long motorway drives but during rush hour it's stop/start drives so I need the car to handle both (preferably without an aching leg!) Definitely think I'd go with a DSG in future, can't believe I've waited so long. Some people have found it a bit too bright or bold but I'm with you @shyVRS245 I like it. The lady owner did look after it very well and it makes me feel better that she simply just wanted a different car instead of trading it in as it was faulty or starting down that path. Thank you, the baby's doing brilliantly and it's good to be back!

New Car
Hey everyone, Not been on in a while but I thought an update might be in order. So, after the birth of my son (in March) and self isolating for months I thought, with the addition of prams and all that babies need I would cheer myself up with a new car. After much searching and bartering with a nearby Skoda dealership I settled on a new (used) 17 plate Skoda Octavia vRS DSG estate. It has the Black Pack 2 (although probably called something different now), sat nav and full colour maxi dot display. Its done 38,000 Miles and only traded in as the owner wanted a new Superb. I know the colour (Rallye Green) isn't to everyone's taste but I quite like the colour and it matched what I wanted in my next car perfectly. Collection date, Tuesday (18/08/20). Thoughts?
