  1. Just wanted to add my thanks to the conversation here, guidance and help with providing the spare part. Arrived well packaged and I finally got around to trying to fit it on Sunday between the showers... a bit of a fiddle but once it's sussed, it's fine. Went in well and yes boot switch now working as before. Thanks again for your help.
  2. Ok. So, we learn something new every day. I had to look at the user manual carefully and had no idea that by pushing and holding the boot switch on the fob, it'd release it. Ok. So, yes, it does that ok. Good to know. Looks like I just need a new switch then
  3. Hi again. On the fob. All the boot button seems to do is unlock the boot only. Tbh, I've never really used it. But I went and checked earlier. To open the boot, I have to operate the switch by the numberplate lights and this operates the release inside. I don't have the electric remote release that I know was an option on some of these and the superb ... P.s. having left the car for an hour or so, I've come back to it and the switch isn't working ... so I suspect it's this that's failed To be clear... When it works, if I use the hob button, the boot won't lift, but it unlocks the boot such that the switch on the boot then can be used to open the boot ... whilst other doors are still locked
  4. The key fob just unlocks the boot, it doesn't open it. Only the switch opens the latch. Should the key fob do that too then?
  5. Thanks. Couldn't see that in my manual, but it worked. Replacing the switch... is it the whole external unit? And does this need all of the interior trim to be removed to undertake?
  6. Hi everyone. Today i had a recurrence of a problem where i could not open the boot on my Octavia III TSI SE 66 plate (hatch)... and I could not see how to open it manually. The switch on the boot does nothing; all other doors unlock/lock as normal. I can't see how to open it any other way (manual in car was no help). On arriving at my destination, the boot latch did work again... but having now got home again, it wont. Sounds like it might be the switch, but I'm unsure where it is, or how to replace if I can't open the boot. Any help gratefully received. Jonathan
  7. Edit... and since they changed this nearly two years ago, it's been fine.
  8. Hi Higgy. Sorry, I missed your message here. Eventually they replaced the lock/catch (whatever it is) in the seat back. It wasn't locking down on to the squared loop on the car when closed... so it rattled. Nothing safety wise, but annoying. And yes..this was on warranty.... but sound s like a common matter.
  9. Thanks.... all noted. I'd probably steer for no. 1 or no. 2 of the above as the garage is trusted... but it was a younger chap I'd not recalled seeing before. But thanks
  10. Just had an advisory for the front shocks on my 66 plate TSI of misting front shocks... approx 44000 on clock, mostly motorway and A roads. Sounds like it's a common one to watch but not worry too much about?
  11. I rang the garage originally concerned that the noise might be a sign of something's more serious and as the car isn't less than a year old wanted it to be checked on warranty... which they agreed ( it might have fixed something's that would have been more expensive for them later). Fortunately they found the problem and were able to fix it... in less than 5 minutes. If your dealer won't do this... I'd find a new dealer.
  12. The technician rode in the back of the car on a test drive to locate the sound, identifying the rear seat catch... with seat back down, the sound was gone. He adjusted the seat catch inside the seat back and all now seems well. Problem solved... quickly, efficiently, professionally... which was good. Might be worth a try... drive with the seat folded down to see if the sound disappears and then get them to look at the catch in the seat; if only I'd asked what they did to the catch. Oh well. jonathan.
