  1. Thanks all. Really appreciate that!
  2. Apologies in advance if this has been covered before but I came out to my Octy this morning to find paint peeling off the boot in a small area. Weather? Anyway, I was wondering if I can get hold of a small tub/spray of paint that matches the car that won’t cost the earth. Any pointers? Thanks in advance.
  3. The gear change on my 2007 Octavia (117k) appears to be rather clunky and not smooth at all. Around 10-12 months ago I changed the gearbox oil thinking this may help the problem but to no avail (Doubt it had ever been done before my ownership (from 102k). I replaced the clutch around this time too. My mechanic doesn’t seem overly concerned about it. But I was wondering if there is anything I can do to improve it or is it just an age related problem. Hoping it’s not a sign of a coming gearbox issue...
  4. Once again my Octavia has gone into limp mode, this time it’s more concerning as I replaced the EGR valve under 12 months ago after much fault finding. This time there felt like a ‘tug’ then the car went into limp mode without any warning lights or workshop message during a 90 mile drive. Some background: The car is used mainly by my wife, she commutes only a short distance to work and generally the car does around 5/6k miles a year. Originally I bought the car for myself with heavier use in mind, however I’ve since had the luxury of a company car. I’m mindful that this ‘under use’ my be an issue with carbon build up or is it more of a dreaded turbo issue?
  5. Thanks Silver1011. Wouldn't have thought about locking the steering over... Having looked at the other pic examples, I'm a little concerned that the rusting isn't on the sill itself but between that and the main bodywork. Is this normal for age/model? Once I've got the cover over, Is it just a case of giving the cavity a good coat of WaxOyl after clearing out the debris? I saw that others mentioned using wax on the sills to help prevent chips etc, is there a go to product for this? With the rust rust visible on the outside, do I just need to find the correct paint code to touch it up? Or would this just cover up the problem short term? Apologies for the questions, Im something of a novice when it comes to stuff like this! Any advice is welcome!
  6. Thanks, Sparky2 - assume wheel off and a couple or torx screws to remove? Ideally, I'd like to cover it up but assume painting over it is a bad idea?
  7. I appear to have the first signs of rust coming through on the door sill on the front offside of my 2007 octavia on 112k miles. I've just spent a small fortune putting in a new clutch etc so ideally wouldn't want to spend more cash than I need to down the local body shop. Is there a proven product that I could apply to the area that would 'cure' this rust? If not, what would you guys recommend I do? Oddly, on the second image there appears to be a small dent pushing outwards from the drivers door which catches on the frame, not sure if to risk tapping it back in with plastic over the dent to minimise any more damage. I have given this a search and nothing of note was found, apologies if this appears to have been covered before.
  8. I sometimes get this on my 2007 Octy but I also have this on my 2016 Insignia, noticed it the other day. I'd assume it's normal? How old is your car?
  9. March 2007. I've found an updated version on eBay (decal is darker not the chrome version) and at nearly £50 seems a little steep to me, even if it's a genuine part.
  10. Not quite at SOS stage, but after doing a longer than usual run in the car today and catching my hand on the frayed leather, it's much easier to ask on a forum on a Saturday night than calling up the dealer!
  11. No, that's the next logical step after trying on here. I've tried a Google search but it's not brought up a leather gear knob, just an imitation version.
  12. I'm suffering from the common problem of wear and tear on my 6 speed gear stick, the actual gaiter is in good condition so I only need to change the gear knob and the silver decal noting gear selection. Does anyone know of the part numbers for these? The L/K version has a leather gear knob so ideally I'd like to replace it with the same, although I'd consider a cheaper hard wearing option if anyone is aware of one. Assume EBay?
  13. I'm due a new flywheel (and will do the clutch at the same time) when my 2007 L/K Octy goes in for its MOT this month. However, I've heard plenty about the SMF only being available on the 1.9 engine but nothing of note about the 2.0 tdi 140 PD? I've got my eye on a Valeo (assuming this is the best make) kit on EBay but at £300 I'm not willing to pay it if it's not really recommended or wouldn't actually fit correctly! Has anybody got any experience with doing this on the same engine?
  14. Apart from the easy entry on the seats, is there nothing else that can be easily enabled?
