I have a 1.6 TDi DSG Octavia with Stop Start.
If it detects that it can't Stop Start (eg. it is warming up, cooling down, DPF regen, too many aux consumers are running and it hasn't enough charge etc.) then it simply won't, you'll just stop at a regular idle (or perhaps a little higher - 1000rpm or so) and a little crossed out 'A' icon appears on the maxidot.

If you wanted a smaller car than an Octavia and were considering a Fabia, look at a Rapid?
They're like a halfway house between a Fabia and an Octavia, the hatchback looks very like the Octavia whereas the Sportback is a little like a Focus-sized Fabia.
They're a little narrower and so should be easier to park, squeeze through narrow driveways, lanes etc.

If that's the case then that's one less thing to worry about (other than the long term reliability of the DSG7 and dual clutches etc.).
I'd been told that the 40k service was important, though I never got a definitive answer if it was for DSG6, 7 or both.

My car has 34k miles, I might leave it in soon get the DSG update and get them to change the oil at the 40k interval while it's in.

My Bolero has issues with the cold, unresponsive and 'ghost' presses / scrolling, as mentioned above a regular clean does seem to help matters.

Is it not possible to 'reset' the tyre pressure monitors in the 'Car' menu of the radio?
We had issues in the Leon after getting new tyres, it has a tyre pressure button that you hold down and it resets to the new pressures.

I once owned a Ford, while the Rapid will still be piling on the miles 10 years later, the Ford will long be in a scrapyard.

I find the Octavia a bit more "solid" feeling, with the chunky VW-group wheel and it seems to ride bumpy roads a bit better, albeit thats going from an 11 year old car with 90k on the clock that was due a few suspension bush replacements, to a 3 year old car with 34k.
Fuelwise, the 1.8t Saab auto was heavy on fuel - 28mpg at best. The Octavia 1.6TDi DSG is reaching the high 40s.
Getting used to going from a petrol - where the autobox kickdown revved all the way and screamed like a GroupN touring car, to a diesel that seems to fly through the gears.
I miss the steering wheel controls on the Saab, but the radio on the Skoda is a huge improvement.

I also have this, when my Bolero touchscreen was playing up in the cold I set it so that I could traverse DAB stations using the wiper stalk control button, shows up on this screen.
Alternately, when I bought the car it had a "warning light failure" message on here that it needed to be brought back for a software update to clear.

I tried the iPod once on my MIB1 Bolero but it didn't work - I see in comments here it needs a Mitsumi cable.
It reminds me that my wife has a SEAT - Apple cable for her Leon, she doesn't really use it as it became a bit cumbersome with the new apple adaptor on it as well, so I might see if it is still about and try it.
My phone is Android, doesn't really have music on it. I was hoping that Waze directions would send sound over bluetooth, but it doesn't seem to. (Unless it only works on Media mode and not Radio)

It is a multiplate clutch lubricated with oil.
I thought the DSG7 200 was a 'dry' clutch?
Only the DSG6 was a wet clutch?

Hi gregoir,
I've checked all the windows are tightly up, I've adjusted the boot stops as suggested (sides on highest, rubber stops until the boot won't close then back a notch) and the bootlid vibrates.
Going over a bumpy road (they all seem to be!) earlier in 40mph traffic it caught a resonance and was doing that air buffeting vibration again.
One thing I did notice is that my bootlid seems to sit a little proud of the lights horizontally - ie. it sticks out a little (couple millimetres) at the rear, but not vertically upwards. Not sure how I can describe it.
I wouldn't know how to start adjusting hinges, they seem to be fairly well hidden under the top of the bootlid.

Main dealers have ways and means, they'll probably write it off as a "training cost" or similar.
Good result for you albeit with the cambelt kit cost.
I'm on to Skoda facebook trying to get them to answer why their IT systems have been so flaky for software updates.

I don't really want to be adjusting the hinge, the bootlid is quite a large piece of bodywork, don't want to damage anything!

Yep I adjusted the bumpers, if I adjust them more the boot sits too high and the dashboard shows the bootlid open icon.
I twist them slightly so the boot just about closes and the dashboard no longer shows that it thinks the bootlid is open.
I've adjusted the side stoppers to their highest too, I'm wondering if they need to go even higher?

Would do, but it's usually drizzling rain, I'll get the false floor wood soaked!
It's a hatch, 2013 1.6TDi, no spare wheel or "simply clever" mat.

It does feel to me to be the bootlid vibrating.
Ive played with the stoppers until I was blue in the face, makes little difference other than stopping the severe "window down" style pressure buffeting. The near-constant vibration is still there.

My experience if it is any help, we got a baby seat and 2 bases for the Octavia and mk2 Leon by BeSafe - IziGo.
(We found mothercare VERY unhelpful, and went to a local baby shop instead)
The ISOfix mounts are shown on the Octavia, the seat base has little plastic clips that clip to help show and guide it onto the mounts on the Leon.
Extend the horizontal mounts, slot in at about a 45 degree angle, lower then extend the vertical mount and lock in place.
They did query the Octavia fitment, at first it seemed raised off the seat, but the veritical mount just needed lowered a little.

Had my Octavia 3 (Nov/Dec 2013) in last week for a software update to resolve maxidot light warnings, they said there was a DSG update.
However the Skoda IT system seems to be flaky, they didn't get it done so I've to go back.
Doesn't seem to be an emergency. I'll get it done though as I have concerns about the long term reliability of my 7 speed box.

Side note - do you guys find these Skoda IT glitches common?
Before I picked the car up it was going to get an update, the dealer took it to the Skoda main dealer but they weren't able to update it due to IT glitches.
I picked it up and arranged to get this done afterwards, then they said there was a DSG update, but they weren't able to do it the same day due to further IT glitches.
Are the Skoda IT systems up to spec??

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but was there ever a definitive answer?
I tried adjusting the bootlid by extending the two side stops to their highest point, then twisting the bottom rubber plugs firstly to the point where the boot sits proud and the dashboard shows the bootlid open when closed, then twisting back a notch such that it sits a little better and there is no boot open warning on the dash.
It doesn't seem to 'buffet' as badly, however there is still a definite vibration, as if the bootlid isn't correctly closed.
There was mention of updated stops - were these put into production? I try and search ebay for Octavia boot stops but it doesn't come up with anything. Does the facelift have updated stops that can be retrofitted?
There was mention of updated dampers - are these a 'secret recall' item that can be requested next service?
Parcel shelf - I did a quite run to the bottlebank with the parcel shelf off, to accomodate a tallish bin (very practical car!), made no difference.
Seatbacks - Tried slamming back the seatbacks in case they were loose (the Saab used to complain if this was the case), made no difference.
Could it be the case that the locking bar isn't snug enough and allowing the bootlid to move slightly? Maybe a bit of insulation around the loop just to ensure a tight fit?
Or as cabland finds with their Tesla, are the rubber stops no use? (Indeed, have these been updated since 2013/14 or the facelift?)
