  1. Now there are several of us who have changed to Superbs after having BMWs! :-) This would make a good story for Skoda! Less surprising now that BMW has now "snatched" the Superb's designer! I wonder how many people now have Superbs who once had BMWs (especially BMW 5's)... would be interesting to know! Rob
  2. Very nice. Which grey is it? It shows the lines of the car very nicely. All the best, Rob
  3. Beautiful car! Well done! I love the wheels! What brand/model are they? all the best, Rob
  4. I echo that! The Superb makes you feel special when you sit in it and you enjoy every second of driving without being tired by it. I also had a BMW E34 5-Series and loved it too and felt the same about it as I do when driving the Superb. All the best Rob
  5. Hi Lee Just for my understanding... So are they 1:1 LED replacements such as offered by Philips or Osram (see below) for conventional BA15S fitments in amber and white without any need to fit the Canbus ballast resistors? For example: Amber LED BA15S: https://www.powerbulbs.com/store/category/led-car-bulbs/fitting/py21w-581 White LED BA15S: http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/382-Osram-Long-Life-LED-Retrofit-White-12V-P21W-Bayonet-Bulb.html I'd be grateful for your confirmation! All the best, Rob
  6. Looks STUNNING! Nice choice! Enjoy! Did you have ceramic protection done? All the best, Rob
  7. Hi @freelunch I received my PedalBox+ from Germany yesterday August 30th 2017 (ordered the previous Saturday) & took 3 working days from Recklinghausen in former East Germany. Fitted this evening after about 20 minutes' contortion and a nearly-cracked rib (I'm definitely no longer 25 any more). The fit of the connectors was excellent and the unit has been attached in its holder to the lower part of the central console. The cable could be hidden between the console material and the carpet. I haven't driven with it yet, but did a quick stationary test, with it set in City mode (green light). The 2cm-3cm slack before anything happens is gone and the engine responds immediately but reasonably to my gentle right foot. This is exactly how I like it. I'm looking forward to the weather improving and going for a drive. To your quote above - I noticed exactly the same and was concerned. But as you will already have noticed, I'm sure, when the car is locked the light goes out after perhaps 30 seconds - perhaps a bit more. So no worries. And according to the manual will 'wake up' with the same settings when the ignition is again switched on. The finish of the PedalBox+ is very nice with shiny silvery trim and black 'soft-touch' haptics. The lights and buttons are also nicely done with a quality "Audi" feel . I can't wait to drive it now! All the best, Rob
  8. I also have noticed this i would like to fix it Does anyone know why and what to do?
  9. Here is the link to the video The trick makes it MUCH easier! All the best, Rob
  10. Hi Pompom I have also done this modification - there is a trick to fitting them that the videos from Superskoda on YouTube show you - you have to fit them the other way round compared with the factpry lights - with the litle cutout towards the centre of the car instead of towards the outside. Then they fit easier but need the small adapter cables to fit! I hope this helped! All the best, Rob
  11. Many thanks for your noble wishes and I wish you the same! Just to clean her and see her clean lines gives me joy. You said, but am sure it's a case of "swings and roundabouts". The last new car I bought was when I was 31 - years old, exactly 31 years ago. Yes, I'm 62 so have been waiting quite a bit for my 'special lady'! All the best, Rob
  12. @mwaw Looking REALLY good! Is it the Limousine in Black Magic? I think it's the first one I've seen. VERY nice. Understated. And TORQUE without end! Interior black? In the meantime I get the feeling that the only car in the Lake District seems to be the Superb! I must say that I'm in love with mine - 220PS Combi. The motor is no way run in - at 900km still feels a bit unsure over 3000 but I feel the potential there. And for when the motor has done its 1000 - 1500 miles, I have a Pedalbox on the way. Then I am expecting a leap in agility.
  13. Hahaha! Good one! I am sincerely hoping to give my Magic Black/Beige Combi Style special treatment. My 18 year old Ford Cougar looked newish so am hoping to be equally successful with my SuperB, So far I had Swissvax' HQ do the detailing and protecting before I touched it. They found 3 paint defects from new of which they could completely repair 2. Since then, I have washed it twice (once a week from new) and so far thanks to the Swissvax Shield wax I have washed contactlessly, which has meant NO opportunities for scratches. I finish with "Finishing rinse" which is supposed to be de-ionized water reducing the possibility of water marks. I'm a bit obsessive/compulsive that way. I will try Soft 99 "Fusso Coat Dark" if I notice that water repellence is wearing off. Water repellence seems to imply dirt repellence. I had Swissvax' HQ do the detailing and protecting, also of the leather from new. Shield protection of the paintwork is supposed to last up to a year. My "Detailing Passport" is due again in May 2018. Swissvax promised at least 10 months with their "Shield" product. It wasn't cheap but the car still looks AMAZING. I am thorough with my washes making sure the wheel rims are spotless and the door inside hinge areas so clean they shine (and repel water). On the other hand, my wife has a true black 2 litre 16V Clio with hail damage (unfortunately common in Switzerland) and also parking damage - which looks AMAZING when I have given it a good wash and wax. Unfortunately the summer wheels have serious kerb rash - only a repair during winter could cure that. We're considering having the hail damage repaired but it looks like this could cost around € 2500.- Close to the value of the car :-( Random thought: It's amazing how the average car driver has NO idea what damage (scratches & swirls) the automatic car washes do to your clearcoat/paintwork. My plan is to ALWAYS have an AP foam cannon, Kärcher high pressure rinse and two bucket method. I bought a Meguiars waffle pattern microfibre drying cloth and can absolutely recommend it. It is incredibly soft, drinks water spots away and leaves only a bone dry surface.
  14. I'll second that! Silver shows the lines very nicely! Lovely! Enjoy!
  15. Hi All I have a different experience! (Sigh, sad look on face...) Despite using the MY17 configurator to order the detachable LED boot light, it was NOT fitted to my MY18 Superb Style+ 220PS DSG6 The dealer did already tell me around order time, that it wouldn't be orderable, but I assumed it was because it was becoming a standard item. Well, not here. However! I did order the high intensity "MEGA Power LED" Combi boot lights fro SuperSkoda in anticipation. And they are great! Highly recommended! Light years better than the anaemic glow worms fitted as standard! There is a trick to fitting them, though - watch and follow the fitting video that SuperSkoda has produced: Highly recommended! In my opinion, money well spent (about €35.00) All the best, Rob
  16. Hi Whaty I now have no kids at home, no dog, no healthy sports with muddy shoes or boots, so I thought I would risk it. It's my third with a beige interior - the last one was before the kids/dog ex-wives etc. At least ithas black carpets - the BMW 5's both had beige carpets - very tricky to keep clean. All the best, Rob
  17. Hahahaha! Yes, my wife was over the moon about this feature being able to change radio stations with a few majestic gestures (well, she is "Queen of the Music"). It really is actually very useful and spares unnecessary greasy fingers on the glass!
  18. Yes, DCC lowers the vehicle by a centimeter so the non-DCC Superbs are officially a centimeter higher. Look at mine - it has DCC. SwissRob's 220PS with DCC Hope this was useful, Rob
  19. Congratulations! That's a great choice! I bet you're a happy bunny! I have fallen in love with mine! I can't wait to drive her again! (Public transport commute to work ) I wish you lots of enjoyment and driving pleasure!
  20. Yes, I think so - and the gearlever surround is gloss black 'piano lacquer' which echoes the unlit parts of the touchscreen. My better half is very pleased with the aesthetics.
  21. The Black Magic was my wife's suggestion, she loves black cars. But she doesn't have to clean them She has a black 2 litre Clio with lots of goodies 6-speed close-ratio manual gearbox and low-profile tyres. Huge fun to drive, like a go-kart. I chose the Superb's wheels because I have to clean them and can get my wash mitt behind the spokes and into the rim interior!
  22. First pictures on the (dark & grey) day I picked it up
  23. MORE SURPRISES There is no storage compartment under the front passenger seat which I thought was standard. The dealer explained this by saying that it's because the seat is electrically adjustable. Does anyone have electrically adjustable front passenger seat AND the storage compartment? The USER's HANDBOOK is apparently a pre- MY18 book (in German). Apparently I will receive a MY18 version when it is available. I have already downloaded the English language Quick Start Guide and the English language User's Handbook both as PDFs. The handbook (non-MY18 apparently) also describes a fire extinguisher under the front passenger seat fastened with two straps but none was supplied. Has anyone got this or heard of it? My beautiful E34 BMW 525i SEL had this option under the driver's seat, many moons ago. Maybe I will buy one and fit it as described. I'll need to make/buy two straps too. I didn't yet look for the attachment points. There was no supplied First Aid kit in the right-hand boot compartment, although there is an attachment strap for one. I had one anyway so have now put it there with my existing orange emergency vests and emergency blankets, additional boot nets. The Canton Subwoofer is in the left-hand boot compartment! There is no SIM-card slot in the glove-compartment media unit. I don't understand how the "YOY" option can be satisfied, then. Maybe via my mobile phone? I will keep updating on surprises as I come across them! First pictures (dark, grey day) coming in the next couple of hours...
