  1. They do suffer from rusty sills, mine is showing these signs on an 18 yr old car. The metal seams to be very thin compared to car panels when welding was a common thing.
  2. What was wrong with the lock, how/what did you do to get it to work again?
  3. The airbag is fairly sensitive and I've heard you have to keep them inside facing up if you remove them. I was extra carful removing mine and no lights came on.
  4. Anyone stuck with the door card, here is a video: https://youtu.be/lh7ndmQQbyI
  5. I bought a pair of continental direct springs for the standard 1.9 TDI and found after fitting only one the car sat level and were the same on both sides.
  6. Hope this helps anyone. It is fairly easy to do.
  7. I removed the ABS sensor by drilling around the sensor.
  8. Try banging on the door a few times, this often works, then you can get access to the lock handle mechanism from inside the door which can be stripped down, freed up or replaced. The microswitch often goes on these too as it wears out and is near impossible to fix without replacement. This is not an easy job as all the inside panal has to be removed with the lock mechanism being part of that. I seem to remember it is better to remove the door card and lock together as it make re-fitting easier. It is a bit of a fiddle to work out how the whole thing works, but satisfying when mastered.
  9. HI, You need to get the code either from the dealer or a third party online company specializing in radio codes. Have a look on ebay for a cheap one, sorry can't recommend one as I have never needed to use. Once you have the code write it down in the back of the handbook and keep safe. Many write it on the radio itself, although that defeats the object of having it in the first place.
  10. to mount the new front bearing you need to get a special tool to press home the bearing correctly.
