  1. I'm not sure if this is comparable but I gave a 2017 SE Tech, dsg. 150 is fine. I'm sure 190 is even nicer but I don't feel short changed. I've had numerous 2.0d 148bhp diesels and I don't feel short changed by this one. No acceleration lag as far as I'm concerned. This isn't an F1 car, it's a big heavy family mile muncher. Once you accept that and drive accordingly all is well. No suspension issues for me. All in all, 68k miles, nearly 4 yrs, best car I've had pound for pound. Any minor details people want to pick on have to be weighed up by what you are paying. An Audi may be better insulated but a Vauxhall wont be. A Mercedes may have softer materials but a Mazda wont. Do you see where I'm going with this? It's a very good car, don't over analyse.
  2. What a bizarre requirement. I have a 2016 model and the privacy glass in the rear was standard. As a passenger it takes away any bright sun, keeps rear passengers cool, but allows them to see out perfectly. I'm not seeing why it needs to be clear? Apologies, this doesn't help the OP, I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind the requirement.
  3. I can't help regarding fixing the scratch other than to say a good body shop will have it back as new. However, in terms of the scratch that is a very consistent line. It could well be quite innocent an accident, a woman's handbag scraping against it, a ruck sack etc. I had a gouge down the side of my car once and after a week of teeth gnashing I worked out it was my wife's fault, a screw sticking out from the lawn mower and she didn't realise it stuck out as she took it from the front garden to the back past the driveway. My point being, not every scratch is an act of vandalism. An unknowing accident is just as expensive but somehow less annoying than a deliberate scratching.
  4. I had this decision and went Superb. I like the extra comfort, space and luxury of the Superb. There is a clear difference, perhaps reduced with the new Octavia, but it is there. It depends how many miles you do as to how much that will matter. If you don't do many then go Octavia, if you do more then I would take the luxury every time.
  5. Do you think they sell many 4 x 4 L & K cars? Must be a bit of a niche one. They will inevitably reduce the number of diesel options but I'll really take notice when it removes the 2.0d from regular models. It's coming I guess, the clock is ticking.
  6. I've just done this and it worked 🙄. Thanks 👍
  7. That's more technical than I expected. I thought it would be a bit of plastic or something. Okay, thanks for that. Was that a dealer fix or is it something that can be done by a local / independent garage?
  8. As per title the flap will not close flush. It's only just started doing this. It is not flapping around as I drive but it isn't how it should be. I've tried moving the plastic wire which attaches the cap to the inside but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Anyone come across this? Suggestions? I've tried googling it and nothing crops up.
  9. I had an oil service 3 weeks ago, same garage changed my winter tyres, I supplied them, at the same time. Total cost, £120. The joy of an independent and even better they are located 50 metres opposite my work. I spoke to them beforehand, I've used them to swap my tyres and for other cars for years. They know the skoda schedule, know what has to be done, the correct oils to be used etc. Once out of warranty it is a no brainer against official skoda servicing and pricing.
  10. I've had 3 Volvo's, S40, V60, xc60. The seats are better in Volvo's, they are probably the best out there for comfort. Volvo make good cars but bear in mind there is a clear price difference so that should not be a surprise. I'm surprised by the Superb noise complaint though. I'm very sensitive to road and wind noise and I have no problem with my superb. I can happily be doing motorway speeds and there is no need to raise my voice to chat, no need to turn the volume up. I've just put my winter tyres on and even they are not causing any pain. Acoustic glass in the Volvo is obviously going to help but something sounds wrong with you superb for you to have had that much of an issue. My superb is not noticeably worse than any of my Volvo's, I would say it is equivalent in terms of noise.
  11. This might be heresy on here but you may need to look outside of a Superb if they only really offer a diesel option for you As MarkyG82 has pointed out, this car is probably not for you and the potential for storing up trouble is a little too strong. Your decision ultimately but personally I would be looking at an alternative.
  12. The old maxim used to be avoid diesels if doing short journeys as the engine will not warm and nowadays your dpf will not get to work effectively. Your journey distances seem okay but your overall annual mileage is so low it suggests short journeys could still be an issue. Personally I would say you are better off with a petrol version based on the figures given. For context, I'm on to my 2nd skoda 2.0d and have never had an issue. My current Superb is a cracker of a car, 64k mile, 3.5yrs.
  13. I get a warning every so often and top it up. The recent one was a more substantial drop than previous ones so this thread is an interesting one for me. I'm pleased the warning exists as otherwise I'd have been oblivious.
  14. About 3 weeks ago the tyre pressure monitor pinged for my left front tyre only. I checked it, it was 2-3lbs below the others. I blew it up, re-set it and carried on. I've done quite a bit of driving since, around 2k miles, and it pinged again today, same tyre. Realising it is now an issue I went to a local tyre place. They took it off sprayed it with magic spray that should show air bubbles but they found nothing. No charge, 'I couldn't find anything so I couldn't fix anything '. I thought it would be a slow puncture but perhaps not. Any ideas?
  15. I've had my Superb for just over 3 yrs now. I don't think the auto wipers are that great and I was always a little grumpy that intermittent wipers were not an option. After reading your post I did as suggested and this morning I was able to use them for the first time 😄. I know, I know, RTFM. Thank you 👍
  16. I think my token gripes are available on certain models: The ability to change the colour of the ambient lighting The ability to change the colour of the display, speedo etc A better selection of car colours. Boy are they dull Not available: A light on the dash to show when the dipped lights have come on. I wish Skoda would make friends with Garmin, my old portable garmin is so much better than the Skoda version. Minor gripes. It's the best car I've had
  17. I have a Samsung A40, no issues with AA.
  18. It will see it but not until you reach the distance set between you and the car in front. As you are moving at speed and they are stationary that means an emergency stop is coming your way 😲. I have not tested this fully, you would have to be some kind of special idiot to do that, but I have got close enough before realising what was about to happen and took over manually. The same applies to traffic merging on slip roads, tractors doing 20mph on an A road where you are going 60 etc. It's vision is very narrow and restricted. I spoke to someone briefly regarding this recently, they have a Tesla. That seems to be more sophisticated with its scanning but that brings its own problems, it is continuously slowing down like a nervous learner driver.
  19. When I first got my Superb I thought ACC would be like the second coming and revolutionise my driving. I soon realised its limitations but that is fine. It is not all singing and dancing, it does some things very well, it does others poorly. I now know when to use it and when not to bother. It is a suck it and see job until you get used to it. I'll give you one tip for free 😉, it's brilliant in a 50mph contraflow 👍
  20. I decided to download the app and that has the info on there. It has an export info option so I will check that out. Next question up is what if you get your car serviced outside of the skoda network? Does the info get uploaded still?
  21. Just to tidy this one up. My dealer has been closed since lockdown and they rang me today advising that they will re open for servicing on June 1st. 'We noticed your car is about due for a service, would you like to book it in first week back?' I explained that the service indicator wasn't showing yet, they didn't care. I think with 2 months without servicing money coming in they are just happy to get things turning over again. Problem solved 👍
  22. Can I ask whereabouts that was? I'm going to be buying my lease car in a months time and this has always bothered me. Fine for the time I have but what about when I sell it on? It's a system I am really not comfortable with.
