Skoda Superb iV Hybrid - Columbus Infotainment System Issues
LOL! Erik, it is not a story I'm afraid. Go to the Skoda Portal; the instructions for doing this on MIB3 are linked there on the front page. If it hasn't worked for you then you should inform Skoda Customer Services. I'm going to wait until the other issues with my car are addressed before I try. The map updates are free. I still get them on the Skoda Portal and only have the 10 year SOS call and OTA system updates subscription. The annual subscriptions have lapsed. Having the map updates delivered to your car OTA is the paid for service. To see if your subscription is active or not, just log in to Skoda Connect. Whether or not it works on your car is a different question altogether.

Superb Mk III Ambient lighting not lighting up completely.
I recommend getting someone with VCDS to have a play with it. I changed them to custom colours on my 2017 Superb and this happened to me when I changed them back to the original colours to sell it. The strips stopped lighting up at all. I can't remember exactly what I did but essentially I coded them out and coded them back in again and it all started working. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it is worth a shot if you have nothing at all.

Skoda Superb iV Hybrid - Columbus Infotainment System Issues
Fingers crossed for you Ron! Mine is going in for the same update in a few weeks time - they are keeping it for two days to get it done. I have the same start point as you with regard to Device Part Number and Software. I'll let you know if I have the same position as you afterwards. The dealer suspects there may also be a problem with the antenna/comms module and are prepared to change that out too. The work on my car has been scheduled for the week after the June update comes out to ensure that is embodied too. The June update specifically addresses issues with the SOS call function which is constantly dropping out on mine. I got this sorted by raising the issue with Skoda UK customer services. They tried to tell me to get it sorted with the dealer but I insisted on escalating the case with Skoda UK. As it happens, I had also asked my dealer to update it, but they told me there was DEFINITELY NO UPDATE available for the car. A Customer Relations Manager called me, I described what was happening and he seemed to know right away what the issue was and suggested it might need an update. He called my dealer, and lo and behold, it is booked in for an update! I took the opportunity to clarify the requirement for a subscription with Skoda too. UK cars come with a 10 year subscription to SOS call and OTA updates for system software. You can see this by logging in to your account. The two other paid subscriptions cover Skoda Connect services like remote locking and map updates. You can update your map manually using a USB-C flash memory stick. Download the map as normal from the Skoda Portal and plug the USB stick in to your car. I find the next bit absurd, but here it is - your car downloads the new map from the USB stick as you drive around. It only downloads the updates it needs for your current position. Skoda recommend leaving the USB stick in at all times so that you have the most up to date maps! The instructions for doing this are all hosted on the Skoda Portal too.

Skoda Superb iV Hybrid - Columbus Infotainment System Issues
I'm afraid this doesn't work for OTA (Over The AIr) only models Simon. OTA only cars don't even have SD card slots for uploading the updates into the car. I did think I saw a post where somebody tried to get an update using the engineering menu and a USB-C memory stick. I think this was only for a map update though as system updates are not listed for OTA only cars. The problem we have is that our cars are not downloading/receiving OTA updates. Dealers don't think it is their problem anymore because OTA updates are delivered by Skoda. Skoda have not put in place a method to deliver updates where OTA fails.

Skoda Superb iV Hybrid - Columbus Infotainment System Issues
Ron, from your first post in this thread I can see that we have the same Device Part Number, Hardware, and software version. Would you be so kind as to share what you showed to your dealer and what update they have identified if they gave you that info? I have been experiencing all of the same issues you have listed and I have a call with Skoda UK escalating the issue next week. Thanks in advance.

Superb IV improving battery performance
I didn't get any record of the reference for the fix, but the service department sent me this extract to identify whether or not my car was affected. In the email they also mentioned that the fix bore a caveat of only applying where the software had not been updated, but pointed out that there was no software update release at that time. The highlight was done by the garage to identify the code I had mentioned. On my car, that error code was occurring over a hundred times in every charging cycle. On occasion, I also had one or two of the others too.

Constantly drifting to the right
I had this with an old Volvo of mine. Wheel alignment checks over a couple of years were always bang on, but the car consistently pulled to the left (RHD) when driving. It turned out that one rear bush had failed, and the other was about to (circa 100K miles). Got them replaced and it went in a straight line again. I'm not saying in this case that the issue is definitely bushes, but highlighting that it could be any of many seemingly innocuous components. To be fair on your garage, it can be really hard to diagnose this kind of thing without any disassembly and people rarely want to pay for potentially fruitless investigation work. You may be better off going to an independent garage who have experience of older cars with worn/damaged suspension, not a dealer looking after newer cars.

Transport blocks left in
You do have a claim against the garage for leaving the transport blocks in. The transport blocks reduce the travel available on the shock absorbers. This means that the car will be more likely to bottom out on its suspension and sustain damage when bumps or potholes are encountered. From the damage to the bump stop (the yellow bit), it can be seen that the suspension has bottomed out at least once in quite a severe fashion. I would support the garage's assertion that this could be pothole damage. This is not solely a consequence of leaving the transport blocks in. The effect of bottoming out the suspension is that it is no longer protecting other components from shock loading. So there could be associated damage/misalignment of non suspension components incurred from the shock loading of pothole damage incident(s). In summary, the damage is most likely from one or more pothole incidents, but the damage sustained was more likely to occur and more severe due to the transport blocks being left in. Tyre Wear There may be a designed in camber with the sporty versions which causes the tyres to wear unevenly, and driving style also plays into it a lot. If it is the same on both sides, I'd say it was deliberate, but if one tyre is different I'd be looking for a problem. Wheel Arch Sealant I haven't had the shocks out on a Superb, but I have never seen sealant there on any other car - though every car is different. I would open the bonnet and remove the trim from the vicinity of the strut mount bolts to get a good look at the metal in that area. I would be tempted to drop the other strut to take a look at the other side as someone else mentioned above. It could just be what Skoda does to them, but given the other damage I would want to reassure myself or I would never be happy driving the car.

Superb IV improving battery performance
I used a Kia/Skoda dealer in Wiltshire (Westover) for a while until we had a falling out over them doing work that was not required to my car. They tried to tell me it was in the service schedule. I printed the service schedule from erWin which clearly showed they were wrong. They said 'that's not what Skoda told us when we did the training'. When I pressed them to show me anything authoritative from Skoda, it turned out they were maintaining the cars based on their notes from training sessions and didn't have access to workshop manuals. That same workshop also told me they could not find a trouble code I had identified. They showed me OTIS, their diagnostic tool, when I insisted. I showed them where the trouble codes were on OTIS - they were not hard to find. The trouble code I had told them about was at the top of the list in bold and red on the DTC list on OTIS. I made the service manager look at it too. I'm afraid if your dealer is either too incompetent to read trouble codes, or too dishonest to admit they are there, then I recommend you find a new dealer. I have not used that dealer again, and the franchise has since changed hands to Hendy. I don't know if they have done anything about the service team though.

Three child seats
There is probably a combination of separate seats whereby three will fit across the back seats of a Superb, but I could not find it. I live near the Britax factory and with a bit of arm twisting they let me try out the most likely combinations of seats - none fitted together. There is actually a lot of room in the back of the Superb but the two sets of ISOFIX fittings are too close together to permit a third seat in between. I didn't like the multimac solution. When our twins arrived and increased child numbers to three, I had to give up my 280 ps and swapped it for an iV with an extra ISOFIX on the front passenger seat. Of course you can only get one adult in, but most of our journeys are one of the adults plus an assortment of children. We have a Land Rover Discovery (ISOFIX x 5) for when we need to go anywhere as a family. I was surprised that the three car seat issue had not been better addressed in cars until I discovered that you only need to have appropriate child seats for two of your three (or more) children! If fitment of two child seats prevents fitment of a third, the third child (if over 3 yrs) must use an adult belt. The highway code, Rule 99, states: Correct child restraint MUST be used where seat belts fitted. MUST use adult belt if correct child restraint is not available in a licensed taxi or private hire vehicle, or for reasons of unexpected necessity over a short distance, or if two occupied restraints prevent fitment of a third. I'm guessing this exemption is why they think they don't need to address the issue, or it is just that car buyers with three or more children are too few for it to be worth catering for.

Superb IV improving battery performance
My Superb iV had the update done on Fri by the dealer and I'm very pleased with the result. It ran one charging cycle where it seemed to increase the available mileage very quickly at the lower charge levels but delivered a pretty normal range in total, but when charged after that the range has shot up and today I've got 37 miles in it. I strongly recommend anyone whose Superb iV is delivering poor range should either download the DTCs or get their dealer to do it to see if it needs this update.

Superb IV improving battery performance
I used VCDS, but you can buy DTC readers quite cheaply on amazon. VCDS is expensive if all you want to do is download DTCs. I don't know if you'll be able to tell if this update has been applied by checking the main software version. It could just be an update to the relevant module. The ranges you are achieving are excellent compared to the advertised performance.

Superb IV improving battery performance
There is a software update/fix for Superb iVs suffering from a variety of charging issues. The charging issues are: P33DF00: Rated current request too low P33E100: Charge socket A electrical error P31D500: Charging socket A recognition connector lock electrical error P33E800: Charge socket A, charge connector lock mechanical malfunction P33E000: Target/actual current deviation too large Mine had P33E000 from new. I took it back in within a couple of weeks of getting it because of the poor battery performance. They told me there was nothing wrong, so I downloaded the DTCs myself and found this one occurring over a hundred times per charging cycle. They submitted it to Skoda for a fix. They never told me that a fix had been issued - which is annoying. I found out by coincidence when chatting with a service manager at a different branch. He looked it up while we were talking and found it. It is not a standard update that will be applied to your car, it is only done as a fix for identified issues. If they don't download the DTCs, they won't find the issues or fixes. There is no indication of these issues in the dash/infotainment system. After the conversation with the service manager, he emailed me the list of faults the update addresses to double check it was applicable for my car and I downloaded the DTCs again and found that several of the listed fault codes had appeared multiple times since I last downloaded the DTCs. My car is going in for the update next week. I don't know what the fix does. For all I know, it could just suppress the error codes. The service manager did seem to think it would improve battery performance though, so I'm guessing that there is some info about the update that suggests it might. On what I though was a totally separate issue I had to contact Skoda customer services because my car lost all connectivity (the dealer told me outright they could not fix it), including the spanner button on the overhead panel. The error message it gave me was that the license had expired. It seems that Skoda then forced an update to restore connectivity. Since then it has been downloading software updates like crazy. Either Skoda have just released lots of updates in a short period, or these are overdue. Suddenly, my electric range jumped up to 30 and with a bit more driving has crept up to 36. There has been no change in driving style or distances. I was getting mid 20s previously. I considered myself lucky if it got up to 28. I bought the car a year ago so I have had it through all seasons and never had it perform as well as it is now. Battery performance did plummet on the coldest days though. There are lots of good tips out there to combat this such as setting the charging cycle to finish just before you want to drive so that the battery is pre warmed. The only other change of note is that my Skoda Connect subscriptions have expired. I would be surprised if those services were power hungry enough to affect the range of the car. They hardly ever worked anyway though, so I won't be renewing them.
