  1. Hello, I have a Fabia 1 vRS myself. But my Mrs, has recently bought a Polo GTi with the DQ200 DSG gearbox. Does anyone know how to reset the gearbox with VCDS? Our car is a UDS type of ECU for the DSG I understand, so the choosing of operation 060 in the guides online from RossTech and the like are irrelevant. Can anyone talk me through resetting the gearbox, and any other relevant settings via VCDS for the DQ200 bopx please? Best Regards Dean
  2. Hello, needle in a haystack I’m looking for a genuine Fabia armrest or the retrofitted golf 4 kit. before anyone mentions. Yes I’ve contacted the lad who made the copies, but he doesn’t do them anymore, I don’t have the facilities to replicate one myself neither. can anyone help or has one for sale please? cheers Dean
  3. I retrofitted a maxi dot cluster to my car, but used a specialist who knew what he was doing, who was able to get past the immobiliser and transfer the information over from my old clocks to the maxi dots. You then need the mileage correction software to manipulate the data correction on the clocks. Out of interest, I'm guessing you know about the ASZ and BLT variants of these maxi dot clusters, and know they must be swapped like for like depending on engine code. Its not a straightforward swap, you need to retrieve the information from your old clocks and clone the new maxi dots with this same data and coding, its definitely not plug and play.
  4. Not fitted them yet sorry no, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it, I have new hubs, discs and callipers to fit to the back end anyway with the Octavia vRS brake set up I’m fitting eventually. wouldn't do any harm to do as I have, preventative maintenance, FAGG or SKF bearings are about £35 a corner.
  5. AFAIK the mirrors and rear demist are independent of one another, you can alter the ON time in VCDS, and get it to automatically shut down after so long, google it.
  6. My car currently is a stage 1 map. Ive accumulated parts over the past couple of years, Ive got a hybrid PD150 turbo, Forge FMIC, Sachs SRE clutch, Full Milltek including decat downpipe and PD150 head bolts. Like others have said, work your way through the suspension components as I have, Bilstein B12 kit, Jabba RARB, Forge rear strut brace, Seat sport front strut brace, Cupra consoles, power flex ARB and front arm bushes, Meyle HD drop links. That'll start you off.
  7. just buy a pair of new ones from TPS, or contact Coverdale Car Parts.
  8. Matt, I noticed that for parts disappearing, certain boot trims went out of circulation, left side plastic trim obsolete Nov 18, then the other side last summer, when I was sorting the back end out after sound deadening the boot floor. Shame about the arm rest, Id seen you had a kit off that lad, do you have it in your sprint yellow? I don't like the idea of messing with the centre console, I bought a brand new centre console last year, as the old chap had scratched it badly on the passenger side somehow. adding the ones on eBay and drilling the plastic and expecting it to be rigid by relying on the plastic is a no go for me, I might just leave it. Im done now retrofitting, my last purchase was a set of leather dooryards from a lad on Facebook, which are the seat surgeon type, somehow though these are really soft plush leather, maybe the original owner paid the extra? Dean
  9. Matt, The nappa leather you talk about, must of also come in black possibly, as my black leather headrest came from a German fabia breakers on eBay, they had the other rear headrests for sale too, I snapped up the headrest, it cost me a good £50+ with shipping mind you. Id seen the fold down rear arm rest on ETKA, shame like you say its not an option, like the tracking down of the genuine DAO 409001 the elusive genuine fabia front armrest! I contacted the lad who made the brackets, but he doesn't do them anymore, shame! Dean
  10. Ill never understand why they were black in colour, looks a little odd slotted in there with the dark grey anthracite surrounding the radio.
  11. Also, on the continent in Europe, the fabias had all the spec, rear electric windows through to phase out I understand, and the Swiss Blue edition had a whole load of extras thrown at it compared to the paltry 6 disc, cruise and leather, oh and sunset tint glass and racing blue. You find that though, our Euro friends always get a better spec, there's a company mind you where you can buy a heated front screen for the fabia, which was used in the rally cars. I include a picture of the leather door cards which I bought recently, and like Lofty said were a dealer fit accessory at the dealership. Dean
  12. Reference the xenons - you used to be able to retrofit xenons, I did anyway to a Vector GSi from a while ago with the phase 2 GSi xenons, I understood that they don't need washer jets, and can be adjusted manually as a normal set would be. The law might of changed, as when I did that conversion you could retrofit with the exclusion of the washer jets, if xenons were specced as an option new from factory, they needed washer jets, as the pattern of the light can be affected when the outside of the lens is dirty, hence the requirement for the washer jets. Not that they make much difference, imagine your lights are filthy, a spray from a retractable jet isn't going to cut through the crap entirely, gone are the days when Ford had wipers on the headlights! Talking of the leather centre headrest, I've finished fitting it this afternoon, after the larger bore diameter guides arrived from Horton Skoda. Dean
  13. My 2006 Fabia vRS had the following options from factory - Black magic paint Leather seats (red piping) Xenon headlights with washers Cruise control Passenger airbag on/off switch in glove box. I’ve retrofitted - Maxidot display only (no sat nav) SE sunset tinted glass (5 pieces) Cup holder in dash (sat nav version) Rear cup holder Rubber boot liner and mats x4 for winter Leather door cards (seat surgeons) Rear centre headrest I’m currently in the process of fitting the centre headrest I bought in leather from Germany, the framework is 14mm and not 12mm like here in the UK, so luckily there’s a 14mm guide option for allowing fitment in the rear 2/3 seat back, it was tongue in cheek cutting the holes in the leather mind you, but carefully succeeded in the end. quite a few mods, I like retrofitting parts that were extra, it adds to the appeal of the car, now that such optional extras were rare. cheers Dean
  14. Id say so yes, Id read somewhere a little while ago the fabia vRS tdi was destined to be a future classic. Trouble is they fall into the wrong hands, I paid good money for mine with 26k on the clock in October 2017 for £6k, mine had xenons, leather, cruise from factory painted black magic. People on Facebook were slating the price of it, but unfortunately the Facebook pages are full of lads who own the ropey examples and not prepared to spend the money. I too hope it goes to a good home! Dean
  15. Hello, ive tried to contact Sean w to see if he can still make the brackets for fitting the mk.4 golf armrest between the front seats. I've seen Lofty has done the conversion, using Sean’s brackets, and it looks factory. Sean hasn’t been on briskoda since late last year, does anyone know him personally to ask him if he could make me some brackets please. Unless anyone has the kit for a Fabia 1 for sale, which guessing will be highly unlikely - DCO409001. Can anyone help please. Cheers Dean
  16. Fitted and works well, if a slight tweak needed to allow to pop out and click back in again. Grab these while you can, I’m sure their in short supply, especially being rare to find items. Definitely better fit than the standard single din type.
  17. I’m not sure it’s available sorry, I know the standard one was earlier this year. Give them a try. If you order something that’s a non stock item, and you find it still won’t work, you’ll have to keep it. They have to order it in special from Germany/Czech Republic.
  18. I would have bought the standard cup holder, I didn’t realise the sat nav variant was available, I can only vouch for my own setup and I know the standard squared edged type doesn’t eject properly with my stereo. if I knew the ‘J’ variant was slightly slimmer I’d buy it again, but buying through TPS special order you have to keep it, luckily mine was faulty so took it back.
  19. I understand your point, but I like to know what’s gone wrong, and fix the problem usually. I’ve not gone wrong so far adopting that approach.
  20. I have a pioneer double din/sat nav, I found the dash to be quite tight fitting the head unit, so much so I had to relieve the side panels where there’s square cutouts already a little further, to allow the release keys to sit in there correctly. I then went ahead and tried fitting a new dash cup holder from TPS, to which I found it to be a tight squeeze, you could get it in there, but it pinched the cup holder mechanism too much, so that it didn’t voluntarily spring out correctly, it got stuck at a certain point. I gave up with it to be honest after trying to cut more out of the side panel by shaving the plastic with a surgical blade. I did persevere mind you, but thought it would never function correctly. luckily was able to return to TPS for a refund. Dean
  21. Help required. Hooked the Fabia vRS up to VCDS this afternoon, new fault has become apparent, 03 ABS brakes, wont communicate with VCDS, its tried intermittently, I got through to measurement blocks, only to then find error comes up in the various blocks I check, which initially look to work. No instrument lights come on when it tries to connect, unlike say if you connect to airbag the airbag instrument warning lamp comes on. I unavoidably went through some water after it rained the other day, which was as high as the underside of the car, so I’m guessing I might have water ingress possibly? I’ve checked fuse 4, 7, 10 and 25 and all are good, I’ve had no issues whatsoever in the past, and nothing came up on the dash to tell me there was a problem until I plugged in VCDS. I saw from another Facebook page user that he had had issues with VCDS and had reinstalled the VCDS software, I’ve done the same, but is still the same. Are there any further checks I can do? And how do I get to the ABS module plug to see if there’s any water in the plug, I know it lives under the air box, is the plug accessible to check or is it an air filter off job? Can someone give me an idea as to how to get to it, or this might be the fault? Any help would be appreciated? Cheers Dean

  23. Nothings wrong with the interior, I want my standard VRS door cards trimmed in leather. neither am I worried if the cow or it’s hide came from China, I was stating where seat surgeons obtain their leather. seat surgeons no longer retrim doorcards on their own, in the past with a larger workforce, seat surgeons took an 4 doorcards and finished them in 1 days, hence keeping costs down, no longer able to be competitive. They will retrim a whole interior to make it worth their while, so I’m told by Paul today. So that options out the window. can anyone recommend a reasonably priced leather trimmer having had good results please, that was the idea of this post initially. cheers Dean
  24. Hello, Im looking for a mint set of leather doorcards for my low mileage Fabia vRS, which has factory leather as factory option. They must be in mint condition, I’ve missed out on a couple of sets now on Facebook pages! I've rang seat surgeons, to chat to someone there who tells me Paul will phone me back, but doesn’t. They want to sell me a complete set of leather for seats and door cards, as the leather is made over in China! I was shocked at that? I've phoned a couple of places, who quote me mega money, unless some knows someone who retrims at a reasonable price? cheers Dean
