  1. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions, I got it sorted. However, I've now got a CEL for an EGR fault and it was refused MOT as the tailgate wouldn't open (crash damage from January). Even with the new calliper the brakes feel like they're made of wood and I think the servo pump is failing. They cost more than the car is worth so if it fails the MOT again on Weds it's getting scrapped.
  2. Ok. I entered the vehicle as an 05 1.9 Fabia and it listed the green but also these, I guess these will be good then....
  3. A little help please. Just found the n/s rear calliper leaking and know from past experience that the green calipers are stupid expensive. I couldn't care less about the colour and just want it fixed quick and cheap, which normal ones fit ? Would the ones in the attached image fit ? Thanks in advance. PS, tried search but didn't get what I expected via tablet.
  4. Had this happen to my car today, looked at the bar fuses and found one cracked across. Too late to take it for a spin and see if it clears the fault, but glad I found a definite fault likely to be the cause. Thanks
  5. Starting to suspect engine and gearbox mounts. Had a knock for a while which I thought was the drop links, seconded by the mot guy. Fitted new and no better. I think it might be the gearbox mount under the battery knocking, apparently yet another common fault. I've also noticed the clutch pedal moves slightly under application and removal of power, suggesting the gearbox may have some movement affecting clutch position.
  6. Hi guys, Been suffering clutch creep and struggling to engage 1st & reverse for a while and heard about the shim repair for the vRS 02M 6sp 'box. Bought the parts from Darkside and fitted them. The creep has eased and the selection issues seem a little better, but not fully remedied. However, I now have a VERY loud whining when decelerating in 2nd and 5th. All other gears seem OK, and 2 & 5 are OK under load, but when I lift the sound is awful, but occasionally not there. Drained out the 'box oil and replaced with fresh and it's just as bad. WTF is wrong with it ? TIA
  7. Intake manifold flap, £165 (£198 inc VAT). Three bolts, one hose and one wiring connector. Job done in under 30 mins. ECU reset itself as battery was disconnected during. Airbag was the second connector right under the seat. Removed seat and cut out both, replacing with some 48p connector blocks and a length of 13amp mains cable. Back up to my mates for a VCDS scan and reset and all is well, for now ! Thanks for the help and advice ;-)
  8. Just had a mate run a VCDS scan due to the CEL and Airbag warning lights being on. The airbag is probably my fix that has failed when I cut out the flimsy connector under the seat. The CEL comes back with.... 19558 Motor for Intake Manifold Flap V157) P3102 - 000 - No Signal Freeze Frame: RPM: 0 /min Torque: 0.0 Nm Speed: 0.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 12.39 V Bin. Bits: 00000100 Torque: 0.0 Nm Torque: 354.0 Nm 19557 - Motor for Intake Manifold Flap (V157) P3101 - 000 - Open or Short to Ground Freeze Frame: RPM: 0 /min Torque: 0.0 Nm Speed: 0.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 12.39 V Bin. Bits: 00000100 Torque: 0.0 Nm Torque: 354.0 Nm 17075 - Fan 1 Control Circuit P0691 - 000 - Short to GND Freeze Frame: RPM: 0 /min Torque: 0.0 Nm Speed: 0.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 12.39 V Bin. Bits: 00000100 Temperature: 73.8?C Duty Cycle: 9.6 % Readiness: 0 0 1 1 1 So, what's the likely culprit and what might it cost me ? The MOT is due in January, and will it be a fail with the engine fault ? I know the airbag is a fail, so I'll have another crack at that beforehand. Cheers.
  9. Not according to three different MOT garages spoken to in the last 13 months, and everyone else I've discussed this with on the net. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-servicing-repair/mot-changes-2012.html The steering light and wipers did indeed reset and now work, and removing the yellow connector and soldering the wires together for the airbag worked after a VCDS reset. The car still failed its MOT on the console bush, requiring a new wishbone. Thankfully I purchased the dealers servicing/MOT/insurance deal so I had nothing to pay. 100% track record for VW brand cars for me though. VW Corrado, 13 MOT's in 13 years, 13 fails. Octavia, 3 MOT's in 5 years, 3 fails. Fabia, 3 MOT's in 5 years, 3 fails. Trust in the brand, failed !
  10. Wipers now working again, no idea why they stopped ?!?!?! Re-flashing the ECU tomorrow to see whether I need to remove the seat to do the other connector. Also managed to sort the knocking rear ARB bushes out. Replaced the Neuspeed bush and bracket with some Prosport ones off eBay for 1/3 the price Neuspeed wanted ? Of course, another bolt had to snap whilst removing. WTF do VW build things out of, I've got sturdier coffee cups !!!!!!!
  11. Following some of the advice on here I'm trying to sort my dodgy airbag light that has been on for 3 years now. I need it done before the MOT in 2 weeks, and I decided to do the hard wire trick, removing the yellow connectors under the seat. I've done the one under the plastic flap, but not yet the one under the seat. The light hasn't cancelled but I believe this needs doing using VCDS which a mate can do. However, the steering wheel warning light which comes on red at start-up and quickly goes out has now turned orange and stays on. Also, the wiring into and out of the connector was a little odd. Going in there was a brown, white and grey wire, but coming out it was brown, white and green. the really odd thing was that the in-white was connected to the out-green, and the in-grey was connected to the out-white, swapped over IYGWIM. Brown was as expected, brown to brown. Also, the wipers have now stopped working. Checking the fuses to see if upsetting the battery has blown anything. These cars really know how to make DIY a PITA !!!!!!!!
  12. Thanks for the offer, but I need the car back on the road and it's booked in tomorrow for fixing. Out of MOT and clients to teach in it on Thursday, so no time. I need to be better organised next year and get it booked in for the MOT earlier. I couldn't get in at my local council testing station as they only do public cars on a Saturday now, so limited availability soon booked up. Ended up at a garage I know and trust, but he is very strict with MOT's.
  13. Thanks, same part no. as Skoda dealer used. Have them on order but am calling the local Seat dealer to see if they have them in stock.
  14. Thanks for the diagram. I ordered using the Cupra part number sourced off here, and the guy seemed aware of it. He assured me there were no voids or holes and that they were a solid bush. See what I get come Wednesday morning I suppose, but they have to be fitted on Wednesday so no 2nd chance if they're the wrong ones. I really want rid of this car before the next MOT, I don't think I will ever buy VAG again.
