  1. @TMB occasionally my battery light doesn’t illuminate is it worth replacing the sensor. How complicated is it to replace with a basic tool box and cost I had a similar problem with my sdi, turned out aux belt tensioner was just bouncing around and not actually doing anything. Might be worth just a quick visual inspection on the belt and tensioner when engine is running keep an eye out for any slipping and excaessive movements on the tensioner ? @aaydjrlb
  2. @TMB thinking of changing a few switches/ interior lights would it be better to buy official Skoda?
  3. https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2002/p/car-parts/electrical/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/car-switch-and-car-sensors/?465440141&1&1838d6e858b5cf186cd5d1c6f77b1387813da28e&000539 This one? @TMB
  4. @Lofty79 actually just bought a blanket to protect the back seats lol. @clarendon462 Yea i wasnt planning on tuning engine, more just mods to tidy interior/exterior probs a daft question, but interior wise, are all the mounts for other interiors the same thru the fabia range the same e.g. seat rails if I wanted to put a new seat in. would they also be the same from the vw/seat ranges too? interior colour lighting im not too sure a lot of the taxis in my area have a nice cool blue are those just after market from ebay do you rekon?
  5. Hi All, I own a 1.9 Sdi Estate (already preempting the jokes) but I am keen to get into some light modifications, more for learning purposes but also maybe to help the car look a bit more respectful on the road. At the moment it is totally bog standard, as it is a first car performance mods should be declared, however I quized my insurance company on putting other skoda parts on e.g. some of the 5 spoke alloys often found on other models and the operator said she was not sure, as they are official skoda parts. Any ideas guys ? or any modifications that can help smarten the combi shape up. probs should start with removing the SDI badge lol. Thanks Again Guys !!
  6. just on looking at the add ons you have done, looks quite smart, thinking of doing this to my comfort model estate
  7. Nice one Wino, getting it Monday evening or Tuesday but I will.
  8. Good thread link cheers, I’ll give it a once over when it gets back to me, my mechanic said he was gunna check the whole charging system over anyway as precaution, unfortunately my skoda is a basic comfort model, so no AC will that mean alt. Sensor is different to the one in the thread?
  9. Cheers lads!! managed to get a recovery guy to jump me, charge the battery enough to get to a local garage, guy recommended a new belt and tensioner as it was wobbling all over. As for lights on dash, when the battery died, the battery light did not come on, so could it be the sensor wire too? When battery was charged I’m sure the light did come on. Car is up the garage till Monday getting those parts on so I’ll keep you all posted. Once again appreicate the support lads, first breakdown was quite a shock when it all went pear shaped lol
  10. Hi guys last night I was driving down the bank to quayside those of you familiar with Newcastle will know the one. Noticed dash lights were a tad dim, turned them up then they went right down, lost power steering so I pulled into a car park to inspect as the aux drive belt had been squeeking, found it still attached maybe a bit loose, dashboard lights started going crazy so I decided to shut off the engine as precaution and of course when I went to turn the key ... The lonely click of the solenoid and no starter motor engaging, I was blocking 2 cars in the car park so I pushed it into a motorcycle parking bay, as it was the only free bay, paid until 11:15 today on the metre wrote a note and left a voice mail on the parking company’s system explaining why I’m in a motorbike spot. Gunna try to ring insurance because I’m sure breakdowns are included, if not maybe try the AA/RAC and maybe worst case try the local garage any suggestions, much appreciated Skoda Fabia 1.9 SDI Estate
  11. Cheers, I’ll look into it I’m assuming the code relates to the part requirement?

  14. Morning Guys, Just been told my reverse lights are not working by a passer by. I have subsequently checked the fuse, lamps and connectors and they are fine, my suspicion is that it could be the switch on the gear box ? Any previous experiences or any ideas let me know, as for now I will just avoid reversing. Cheers !
  15. Gunna give this one a go. I’ll let you know on the progress. This oil says it conforms to the vw specs and the reviews say it’s suitable. Cheers guys !!

Brake disks and pads on monday / tuesday then i think a good service, I have ordered a haynes manual but for the sdi does it require any different oil a friend who is a vrs owner said it is probs different to his oil. cheers,
