Morning, I have MY13 Octavia with the Amunsden system installed however I have no power to the display or box in the glovebox, I have checked both fuses and they are fine! Any idea what else it can be apart from both items needing a repair - seems a bit strange they both have no power.

I have lane assist and have turned on a few bits HBA is turned on but I don’t get a symbol - I need to check what speed it’s set to! On my octavia elegance speed is not a factor!

@paulski I haven’t lost any heating yet which I suppose is good news or I haven’t noticed because I have heated seats!

I was informed today mine has the issue MY16 VRS 4x4 whilst it was in for an oil service. As there is no internal to service the coolant this is a design flaw that should be picked up by skoda\VW even if the vehicle has no warranty! It’s a matter of time before it happens unless you are very lucky! im booked in for a full flush on Wednesday I’m hoping this doesn’t get ugly.

I drove to oldham a few weeks ago to view a VRS I was picking up (600 mile round trip) I was left fuming as the car has runs in the paintwork! The guys selling the car from their car lot denied all knowledge of the poor repair ( apparently they never noticed!) beware. Hopefully picking up a 16 plate VRS 4x4 in Grey next week, once the outstanding work has been completed.

I had the front two go within 8 months of one another just annoying more than anything.

if you haven't purchased already id recommend the elegance 1.6TDI owned for 3 years no issues to report and I do my servicing myself.

I purchased Brembo discs and pads from Euro car parts - I got the fitted at F1 auto centre, the fitted front and back for £65 including vat! absolute steal - parts and labour I think was about £350 all in.

It turns out the issue is with the sat nav maps, since removing the card everything is working! How strange!

thanks for the help - is there a way to test which device is the issue? the screen has no power and I have no way of telling if the control unit is the same. I did try and run the VCD diagnostic - however the one I borrowed is out of date running windows XP which I am trying to update so I can see if there are ny fault codes etc.

Good afternoon, I have noticed in the past when it is very cold my Amundsen unit played up - however now it's dead, I have checked the fuse which is ok.. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get it to turn on a possible reset? I have removed the device -unplugged for a few minutes and plugged it back in. (no joy still nothing) It may be completely dead and might need replacing - any tips tricks or ideas are appreciated as I have no use of any of the functions, I don't have the ODB cable to check for any fault codes. yesterday it kept restarting every few minutes which was very annoying. thanks in advance.

Stalking, you are not my type though you are 6ft and blonde can you imagine trying to fit in another vehicle of the class - I tried the A4 and A5 - the cabin space and leg room behind the drivers seat was pointless. I agree with you regarding the travel time etc I used to live in my company Octavia and it was a pleasure to drive, hence I went out and bought one for myself. I just find it funny after 4 year of driving one only 2 days ago I found the heated wing mirror option

Hi Steve (Fletch Cossie - Id know that name a mile off, Its Declan BTW ) have you thought about the under seat sub that alpine do? might save you some hassle with the cabling, Also have a checkout of the upgrades to the VRS in another thread ( number plate VRS 2 low if you are looking for more power too! ) how does your new octavia compare to your old one?

Has anyone carried out an oil change themselves on a 1.6TDI, I am looking to do it myself and was looking for some pointers. Is the under tray easy to remove and reattach? is the oil filter easy to get to will I need to move any cables etc? best place to put the jack stands? thanks in advance.

I hope this picture helps,I also struggled to change my side bulb as the manual stated it needs to turn. As you can see there are two clips holding it in place. This is a difficult procedure if you have hands like shovels like myself.
