MIB3 map update
I've got a couple of adaptors similar to this - one that projects the flash drive towards the front of the car & one that projects it sideways. I have a flash drive with a collection (approx 1500 albums) of music and both adaptors can be in situ without getting in the way of each other. Both adaptors, with the flash drives inserted, sit out of sight under the cover.

MIB3 map update
Nice that we have no certain way of knowing if/when what we have done has actually had the desired effect !

MIB3 map update
Would it be unreasonable to think that the "Navigation database" in "Menu > Settings > System Information" will only be changed when the update process has completed? Given the size of the maps database (whole of West Europe, I believe?) it doesn't seem to have had long enough to update everything (time-wise or, probably more importantly time-ignition-switched-on-wise) but the Navigation database has changed since yesterday from 23.12 to 25.6 so I'm hoping the task has been completed & I can safely remove the flash drive?

MIB3 map update
Nice graphics on Map Creator. I'll keep it bookmarked for future reference.

MIB3 map update
As I said at the end of my post........"Fingers crossed ! !" I do occasionally use Google maps & Waze as I find a lot of the supplementary information they provide is very useful. I do, however, prefer the graphics used in the built in system; if I can get that up to date I should be able to cope with anything. (Will now wait for the whole thing to gp t*ts up & have to go back to square one.........)

MIB3 map update
Some (most?) of the technical aspects of this topic must be leaving most users (myself included) feeling totally out in the cold. I started using computers (desktop IBM PC-XT) in 1976(?) and have tried (with a fair degree of success) to keep up with the march of progress, but developments over the past, say, ten years have left me scratching my head on a very large number of occasions. I have just tried to update the maps on my Amundsen MiB3 system ('72 plate SEL) & encountered the stalled unzip problem mentioned by a few. I eventually managed it by ignoring my dedicated zip/unzip programmes & resorted to the built in Windows 10 context menu "Extract All...." command, and this seems to have worked. It took a couple of hours but appears to have completed and I have now plugged in the flash drive so hopefully might see some actual results in the next couple of weeks. (I was particularly keen to update the system as a new stretch of the A30 (mid to west Cornwall) which opened just over a year ago was not reflected on the currently installed maps version, and the system kept (keeps?) restricting me to 40mph when using cruise control - hopefully I'll have got rid of that problem with this update.) Fingers crossed ! !

Unlocking with Kessy
Be warned !! (only joking) You'll almost certainly forget to keep your distance when using the virtual pedal & will curse everything about it...............until you step 18/24ins away from the car! The "prevent being smacked in the face" argument is probably true, but in my experience the boot will stop moving (opening or closing) if it meets any obstruction. Perhaps your car doesn't like your face!!!

Wireless charger cooling
Nice ruse on the part of Skoda - turning on the Apple Wallet payment option automatically. Charging you to import (if only temporarily) your phone to the car now, are they?

MIB3 map update
I think I've successfully updated my Mib3 Amundsen maps database with a download to flash drive & plug-in-and-leave-it in the car. The car was telling me (before update) that the database version was 21.12 (car purchased October '22). It's now showing version as 23.12 so I'm assuming it's done the job. One thought occurs to me - the download (when unzipped & copied to the flash drive) comprised 710 folders - presumably this volume of content covers multiple languages & locations. I didn't sit waiting for the update to work - I let the system do it's thing - but I can't help thinking that the vast majority of what I put on the flash drive was not actually necessary for (or input to) my system. Can anybody with, perhaps, a little more insight cast some light on this aspect?

Seats
I can't think that that level of cost is warranted.

"normal seats will need to be put in" ?? Sounds a bit kackhanded ?

I can't recall how much they were asking two years ago, but I can't think I would have gone for it at that price!

I thought (and still think) it was worth it. Not only when driver & passenger swap places, but after a service or, a couple of days ago, a decent, detailed in & out car wash/mini-valet. Once you've spent a little while getting everything how you want it & memorised the settings, one push of the button & the seat & door mirrors return to where/how YOU want them. One other thing you get with this - if you move the door mirrors control knob to 'left' then engage reverse the passenger side mirror dips to show the kerb/roadside. Can't remember exactly how to set this up (you'll doubtless find help on this forum); I'd bet that you'll find this feature very useful for helping to avoid minor scuffs & scrapes.

Central locking
Can't be the software..........The software is extremely robust. ?Where have I heard that before ???????

Moving on - clearing infotainment, phone and contacts etc
Nice to know that on that, if on very little else, Skoda got it right before it left the factory !

The details of the various specifications seem to change every five minutes or so (joke!) so it's very difficult to compare, say, an SEL from 2020, 2021, 2022 etc. without having a precise list of any particular car's features (basic plus any options). I ordered a '23 facelift SEL in June '22 and picked it up in the October. One option I went for was the "Convenience Package" (as defined in the April '22 brochure) which includes electrically adjustable front seats (with three memories). I can't think that a feature such as that will have been done away with.

Wireless Android Auto issue
Isn't it nice when something on a modern vehicle (albeit an added extra) is actually made to work as hoped for. Now see how long it takes you to forget it's there !!

12v socket and dashcam power feed issue
My Nextbase 522 + Rear Screen Camera were fitted by the dealer, hard wired to a permanent live feed & power cable routed up A pillar. Power/data cable to rear screen comes off camera & is routed under the roof lining. 522 apparently has a motion detector which turns it on when the engine starts & off when the engine stops. This includes when start/stop engages at, say, traffic lights. The re-start is so quick I don't notice it. It also turns the cameras on if the car is parked & is nudged (or worse) by somebody else so no more anonymous car park hit & runs. I see that Nextbase offers an installation service at your home but don't know what this costs or if it's available as a separate service after purchase of the camera.

Heated Front Screen
Where you live & drive will obviously have some bearing. I (in Cornwall) haven't got a heated screen in the Karoq & didn't have one in my (11 yrs) Yeti. I don't find it a problem, but I did go for the pack which included the steering wheel heater - a bit of history in my family of circulation problems in older age. Now in my second winter with the Karoq & I honestly feel the heated wheel has paid for itself. Each to his own!

Heated Front Screen
Give it time... The EU will doubtless make it compulsory before too long & manufacturers will probably find it too fiddly to not fit to UK bound vehicles (with appropriate adjustment to car's price).

Wireless Android Auto issue
Better idea. I had the (front & back) dashcam (Nextbase 522 + Rear Window Cam) fitted by the dealer, hard-wired to a permanently live fuseway. The camera turns itself on when the engine is started (vibration detector) & will do so if the car is 'nudged' in a car park, so (hopefully) no scratch & runs anymore !! It turns itself off when it detects no engine vibration - even when waiting in a queue & the stop/start has kicked in - but is immediately back in action when engine restarts. I've virtually forgotten that it's there !

Wireless Android Auto issue
You seem to have covered all angles. As long as you remember (when going on the occasional long journey) to make sure you've got the cable with you!!
-
Wireless Android Auto issue
1) Do you have a phone with wireless charging? 2) Does the car have the wireless charging pad? You might still have to address the issue of battery drain on the phone if you can't charge wirelessly (for either reason above).

Heated Front Screen
I'm not overly fussed at not having one, but would be interested to know how much ???
