  1. I think you left out the first word........."b a c k w a r d"
  2. I use the built-in Sat Nav on my '23 facelift Karoq SEL (Amundsen infotainment) some of the time, but I've also got GoogleMaps, Waze & HereWeGo on my Samsung Galaxy phone, and all three work into the Amundsen via a wired connection. (There are Youtube videos showing wireless connections for Android Auto - iPhones can apparently connect wirelessly using Apple CarPlay) I find each of the apps has its own features and keep all three on the phone for that purpose. Android Auto is set to auto-start on the phone, and it's occasionally slightly disconcerting to be using the built-in Sat Nav (I like its mapping graphics) & have Waze cut in & announce an upcoming accident or pothole, vehicle on the hard shoulder, etc.
  3. I struggled with the Sat Nav in my '23 facelift SEL & found that I could use GoogleMaps or Waze from my phone via Android Auto. (Latter two had to be downloaded to the phone of course). I don't know whether Smartlink was/is enabled and haven't touched it since trying to circumvent the built-in SatNav. I believe Smartlink is an alternative (but basically similar) to Android Auto but of course didn't bother to try to link GoogleMaps or Waze other than with Android Auto. Considering the complexities of the electronics in modern cars I managed to set it up with no problems (& have since ascertained a little more of the workings of the car's system so now I have a choice of three SatNavs (greedy!) ) and am coping very well with this. The three options all have different properties/options of course, hence my having all three active in the car - I can switch easily between them as required.
  4. It'd be nice if they'd acknowledge a few more of the queries/problems that are frequently raised on this & other sites. For a gigantic multi-national group I'd have to give them, on a scale of 1 - 10, a minus score for their efforts to help & support their customers.
  5. I've recently input & saved approx 2 doz destinations for trips over the next two/three months. They will be deleted after the event but of course won't be that logical to find when needed. If I do the same using Waze on my phone & link to the car with Android Auto there's no problem 'cos Waze stores them in alphabetical order.. Why does Skoda's system appear to be disregarding the first rule of computers sorting data - numerically then alphabetically ?
  6. A question that several (? many ?) would like an answer to............
  7. I've now had mine for just over 6 months; it had a hard act to follow in the form of my Yeti (11 yrs, 142K miles) but I'm very pleased with the way it handles & drives. But - as stated in other threads on this website & on various other forums I remain extremely disappointed with the level & standard of assistance & support that appears to be available from Skoda centrally, and the level of knowledge & training (or, more to the point the apparent lack of both) exhibited by the staff at the supplying dealer. The lack of a comprehensive (booklet) manual has been mentioned elsewhere, and the fact that it's no longer possible to download a .pdf version of the manual doesn't help. Unfortunately I don't have any 9 yr old grandchildren to assist in working through the (fully computerised) built-in "instructions" & while I have a fairly large degree of computer familiarity the current (apparent) modus operandi of 'dumping' the customer in the deep end does not IMO bode well for the future. To paco I can only suggest "keep plugging away at the 'buttons' on the screen - I have solved a few problems that way, but the question remains - Given the money we're asked to part with nowadays should we not have the right to expect a full backup & support service at dealer level ?
  8. Oh ! Has this thread ended ? Lots of us thought it was just getting interesting !
  9. I think we all know the likelihood of that happening !
  10. Most of the problems & queries I've attempted to address on my 6 month old Karoq have led to lots of searching in the printed manual'handbook (joke) and a lot of research on line in this & other forums etc. Regret that I have to confess that the on/off nature of the "Hand Gestures" feature is buried in the settings function in the infotainment - I was probably having a bad day & didn't dig deep enough. Problem now solved - thank you BoxerBoy - I'll now try to find a morning/afternoon or two to go through all the points in the car's settings screens & see if I can find anything else that has proved, hitherto, to be elusive.
  11. I've seen a couple of mentions of this 'wonderful' idea from somebody (in design) wishing to make a name for themselves - the basic gist of the comments I've seen to date seems to be that the feature can be more of a hindrance than a help, by changing the infotainment's current mode/function etc. I have to say I agree with this view, and am wondering whether anybody knows of a way to turn it off. The touchscreen's sensitivity doesn't appear to be in need of any assistance from a waving hand - it seems to be sufficiently sensitive in its own right, and I for one would be delighted to switch the feature off if possible. Any ideas ??
  12. ? ? that VAG will sort the issue quickly ? ? They don't seem to be in any hurry to correct/improve the current crop of infotainment systems fitted to various models in various marques in their portfolio. Auto Express pointed out approx. two years ago that while they thought the cars themselves were good, the infotainment systems (various types) were not fit for purpose. But then they've got our money, so why should they care ?.........................
  13. If recent versions of the handbook are anything to go by, don.t hold your breath. This forum (& others) are likely to be a major source of information, and if dealer staff in your part of the world are (in the area of product knowledge & problem solving) anything like they are in mine......Good Luck!
  14. For what it's worth (slightly historical) ordered Jun 22, delivered 1st week October - did have several optional extras if that has any bearing on production time
  15. I have a Samsung J3 (2017) which has a USB-micro socket for charging/data input or output. I have a short cable USB-C to USB-micro & a phone holder next to the socket. I use the phone for SatNav purposes as well as the occasional call, and the phone charges OK from the USB-C socket. This on a '23 facelift Karoq. System keeps the phone well charged - necessitated by having to use either Waze or Google Maps as workable alternatives to the dreadful built-in SatNav.
  16. I drove a Yeti for 11 years (142k miles) with a tyre repair kit in the boot 'well'. These kits are said to need replacing after three years ( ? solution degradation ? ). I never suffered a puncture so never used the kit which (the original) was still in the car when a friend bought it last October when I took delivery of my new Karoq. I did receive a reminder on every service invoice over the last eight years that the tyre kit had expired & needed replacing!
  17. Off at a slight tangent.........I wonder if anybody at Skoda HQ belongs to or monitors this forum, and whether any notice is taken of the points raised, questions asked & 'complaints' posted by their customers? (I think we already know the answer to the second part of that question).
  18. When I contacted Skoda @ Milton Keynes 3 or 4 weeks ago I spoke to a (seemingly) very helpful customer liaison/service chap who took on board the problem(s) as described & then offered to download the manual for me & email it (or send a suitable link) - he was utterly amazed (?gobsmacked?) to discover that there is no downloadable version of the manual & promised to elevate the case to senior customer service management, promising that I would hear back from them "within a couple of weeks". I';m still waiting.
  19. Nice to discover that there's yet another who has the same problem. Unfortunately my Garmin, used for several years in my Yeti, was starting to play up, and (foolishly perhaps) I made the mistake of thinking that a brand spanking new car, costing megabucks, would have a system built in that removed the need for any add-on facilities. I'm in two minds as to whether I should bite the bullet & buy a replacement Garmin/TomTom/Whatever or use my phone or tablet (which would require a SIM card) as a result) and totally ignore the alleged wonderful facilities provided by by new £36K+ Karoq. I'm still deliberating as to the way forward - I can't help but feel that it will involve some external add-on device(s).
  20. See my reply to OldKaroq below.
  21. Basic Infotainment system in the 2023 model is based on the Bolero - I paid extra to upgrade to the Amundsen. It does not have the Bolero's feature of resuming where you left off when using the media player (I have a music collection of over 1000 albums on a 128Gb flash drive in the c-port) and if I have to switch out of media & then back in I have to start from scratch in selecting where I want it to play from. On the Sat Nat front I'm still trying to get to grips with it's alleged 'system' after several years of using a Garmin (with many pre-set destinations capability) - so far I've not discovered a way to input any likely destinations, and indeed I've seen other posts (maybe here, maybe on other threads) that imply that you can't even input a UK postcode into it to search on & put a route together! Customer friendly ?? or what. Another session at the dealer likely in the next week or so.
  22. Thanks for the link smipx but this is one that I'd already found & downloaded plus it doesn't include the gizmos & gadgets that were added & upgraded or enhanced in the 2023 facelift version of the car. As mentioned in a previous post there is no downloadable version of the 2023 manual, the booklet version that was in the car issilent on most aspects of the Sat Nav, and even Skoda @ Milton Keynes have been unable to supply a full version of the 2023 manual in any format (book or download). The search for an answer goes on....................
  23. The clue is, I feel, in the name of your model - Edition. With the Karoq now available in only SE, SEL & Sportline versions the designers seem to have gone to town on remodelling/re-mapping the car, rejigging several aspects of the options previously available. One element that seems utterly unbelievable to me is the lack of a full user manual in booklet form and the provision of an online version which is NOT downloadable in .pdf format. I have posted about this seperately. I mentioned earlier that I am, satisfied with the car, and that is true, but like several other posters I have been unable to fathom out the infotainment system (specifically the Sat Nat element) and after having sessions with the dealer & with Skoda @ Milton Keynes I am now seriously considering a complaint to Trading Standards. If I have to resort to using Waze on my phone I've effectively wasted several hundred pounds by having the Amundsen option fitted Is it unreasonable to expect a manufacturer to supply instructions (either in booklet or downloadable form) that a customer can consult with a view to ascertaining how the products actually works? I paid upwards of £36k for my car - spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar doesn't enter into it.
  24. The reaction of your dealer, and several other responses (to various topics) that should give definitive answers, lead me to wonder what level of training dealers & their staff are required to undergo. I collected my SEL in October and am generally pleased with it - after eleven years & 142k miles in a Yeti. I decided to go for the electric seats, and discovered that this meant that the folding tables would not be included/fitted. It's no great thing for me as they would not (if supplied) have been used that often (fingers-of-one-hand-in-any-12-month-period syndrome!), so I just accepted it. The response from your dealer seems to imply that the tables are only available with electric seats! Curious ?
  25. When I queried this with my dealer he confirmed what SWMBO had said regarding the stop/start in her Citigo - that the engine needs to have warmed up for stop/start to come into play. If you're doing mainly short journeys.........
