  1. Afternoon everyone.... 2014 Superb Elegance Estate 170bhp.

For some time now the drivers window has lost its memory every time the ignition was switched off, then the other day the motion locks began working intermittently as well as windows from the drivers door switches, now now of that works and in addition the offside doors will not lock.

My guess is that several wires in the drivers door loom are broken, the car is used for private hire and has 261,000 miles up.

The local Stealer has just quoted me £168 for a new loom, I was too shocked to ask if that was PLUS VAT.

Is there a go to place for parts like this please.

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like you're getting wear on the inside shoulder which is common enough. Is it a Greenline or standard model?

Most likely it's a combination of sagging rear springs & dampers and wheel alignment being a bit off. I posted details of the geometry in the thread below. See what your ride height is like before going any further.

Standard not Greenline....Im more concerned they only lasted 6,800 miles...on the back, fronts still got plenty left..

  3. Evening All, I have a 2014 Elegance Estate with 238,380 up. I bought it with 153k miles. It had a set of flebay Eurovis tyres on, then it has had 2 sets of Nexens which lasted just under 20k a set, the n/s rear always needed replacing before the others but I always change in axle pairs or full sets. Anyway, I didnt think 20k was particularly good out of a set and in Sept Costco had an offer on Goodyear Eagles so I fitted a set.

As the car is a Private Hire I'm normally very fussy about things like tyres checking regularly. I was stunned this morning to find that after only 6,800 miles the rears were on the markers, now changed for new Nexens on the rear, plenty of tread left on the front Goodyears.

Anyone else had anything similar, being front drive Im used to front tyres wearing faster than the rears.

  4. Yes, Ive seen that, but thanks for looking

I had the car in at the local Audi Indy the other week for another matter, they checked and said its the potentiometer for the flap motor.

Ive just had the Columbus unit out to see if anything is visible but cant see anything. The Indy did say the dash has to come out, Im guessing seats, centre console then centre dash.

The thermistor is not quite as accessible as the Golf or I would take it out and test it.

    Unfortunately I dont have VCDS

  5. Hi everyone, I have a 2014 Superb Elegance with Climatronic, diagnosed by Indy with inoperative driver side flap motor, warm air on passenger side but cold on drivers side, have done the flap reset to no avail.

Has anyone changed one please? Can someone point me to a diagram/schematic so I can see exactly where it is please?

If I change it will it need VCDS to set it up?

  6. Anti clockwise from under iirc.

And if you look under the scuttle on the passenger side you should see a threaded screw hole ( believed to be for a l/h drive cars wipers), this is where water can enter and drop down onto the blower motor. I squirted some silicon into mine...problem solved.

I decided to buy new because most of the wires were cracked and some snapped thought might aswell do it properly while am keeping the car, it cost me 144 quid not the cheapest but I like my car😁

Blimey, thats not cheap is it?? My drivers door window loses its memory and doesnt go up/down on the key, but at that price I think it can stay like it.

  8. Had mine done today, they said it would take 3 or 4 hours (because we cant work on it until its been cleaned), left it at 09.15am, had a call at noon to say "its on the ramp" and appears to be due a cambelt, brake fluid change and air con service, the usual attempt at upselling but no pressure when I said it had all been done.

I was expecting another call to say I could collect it but I ended up calling them at 4.30pm, full of apologies that I hadn't had another call to go and collect it. They had washed it though.

  9.

This is a video of a Passat with a snapped aux belt, it shows changing the tensioner ..

I cant believe you have to take all that out to change the tensioner!! Not a job for lying on your back on the drive eh!?
