  1. I have sorted the issue . I have bought a Carista device from Amazon and cleared it in couple of minutes 🙂
  2. I have tried one of those Android units in an attempt to improve my infotainment system. However when removing the glove box I had to remove the airbag connector and now I am getting a light on dashboard . It seems the code can be cleared with VCDS and noticed that it used to be a map with users which could help but not sure if still active . I have also seen that this can be cleared with a ODB11 so I can purchase one but there are so many of them and not sure which one to choose as on some it says they do not clear SRS /ABS errors while others seem to rely on software which is a bit of hit and miss Any advice is appreciated
  3. Thank you Nicky for your advice . How much did you paid for your MIB2 in the end ? Which screen did you paired with ?
  4. Thank you Nicky . I have already ordered one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186123072112 . I will test it and see if it meets my requirements. Good thing is that I can return for free without any postage cost . I would definitely like to go for a MIB2 but unfortunately I can not justify spending over a 1k on a car that now is valuated at around 5-6 k
  5. Thank you Happy Sam I will definitely have a look as its full of very useful info .
  6. I've been thoroughly enjoying my Skoda Octavia Elegance, which has been running smoothly for some time now. However, there's one aspect that's been bothering me lately: the lack of Android Auto functionality due to my MIB1 5E0035874A system. From what I understand, my current MIB1 system doesn't support larger screens, which means I'd need to upgrade to MIB 2 or 2.5 to enjoy Android Auto and a bigger display, necessitating the removal of CP. Unfortunately, this upgrade comes at a significant cost, ranging from £700 to well over a thousand pounds. In exploring alternatives, I came across a module box manufactured by Ebilaen, which can be installed between the screen and the glovebox unit. Priced at around £150, this option promises to retain all current car functionalities while seamlessly integrating Android Auto: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004199215635.html?spm=a2g0o.best.0.0.40b52c25noM564&mp=1 However, opting for this solution means I'll still be stuck with the same small screen. Another option that caught my eye are these Chinese 10.1 Android Car Radios, which not only offer a larger, more visually appealing display but also fulfill all my requirements, including Android Auto integration. However, I'm unsure if there might be any limitations in functionality compared to my current MIB system. I'd greatly appreciate any recommendations or suggestions you might have regarding the best course of action. With numerous companies selling these products, it's challenging to discern which one offers the most reliable and feature-rich solution. I'm particularly interested in your thoughts on the following product: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315176410113 Your insights and guidance on selecting the optimal upgrade path would be immensely valuable. Thank you for your assistance and expertise.
  7. Thank you for your replies. Will be good if somebody knowledgeable could share his experience of how to fix this issue which seems to become more common.
  8. This morning went in the car on my way to work and realised that handbrake was down and button was missing with the spring hanging out. I locate the missing chrome button under one chair and tried to fit it back but did not succeed as when pushed it seem it did not grip to the lip on the lever inside. Took the spring out and tried to see if it holds and it now the button will not come off. I don't want to force it as I am sure I will break it. Anybody got any advice on how to fit this ?
  9. Thanks to everybody for advice . The car has been fixed under warranty and the gear selector was faulty . The light was coming up as the Lambda sensor was having a fit as well. Both issued been fixed at no cost to me but on the invoice parts and labor was just shy of a thousand pounds. I need now to have the car serviced as it nags me I have 24 days left . I think I have to use only Skoda dealership for service as I still have warranty until Jan next year and don't want to give them any reason not to honor it. Has anybody used Garland in Aldershot ? They are quoting £159 for an interim service
  10. Nope as MIB 1 does not have the hardware to support it . You need to update to MIB2 which is costly and not that straightforward.
  11. Thank you all for advising me, I have been pretty busy today and had no chance to call the dealer. "silver1011" you are absolutely right if you don't push this guys they never call you back . To say I am dissapointed with their service is an understatement it seems they not interested once they got your hard earned money. I will make sure I will get a full explanation as what happened and will update the thread .
  12. I have bought an Skoda Octavia Elegance on a 2014 plate from Lookers in February .The car came with 1 year waranty and it had almost 20K . I absolutely loved the car so I was well happy with my purchase. Couple of days after bought it I was driving it and had an error appearing on my dash "Error Workshop :leave vehicle only when " I have contacted the dealer and been told that this may due to the fact that the doors are not closed properly . I wasn't convinced with the explanation but I thought it was a one off. One month later I had it again and then again one after another month . However 2-3 weeks ago I had it when on the motorway at 70 mph and 2 days later again while I was doing less than 20 mph into a roundabout . Since then I had another couple of times showing up randomly . I can't find a pattern as why this happens . I have looked on Briskoda forums and than find this thread https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/426096-error-service-leave-vehicle-only-when-selector-in-position-p/ which I have to say gave me shivers as they talk about a serious issue with the DSG. As I have been pretty busy at work I kind of postpone contacting the dealer but yesterday morning when I was returning home I had the management light coming on board. I did not feel any loose of power or entering into a limp mode . I pulled out and stopped the car and start again but the light came back on . So now is there everytime I switch on the engine.I have read in the manual and on the forums about this which again is not good news. I have contacted the dealer yesterday and he replied and said " the problems sound unusual" and they will book the car ASAP to look in depth at the issues. At this moment nobody called me back to book the car yet. I have done 2500 miles since February and on a car that is only 20k bought from a approved dealer which has been fully checked and inspected is not something I would expect. I am getting cold feet as I not sure I can trust this car anymore and not sure how I should proceed about it.I am sure the dealer will fix it but then what if this happens outside of the warranty as it seems quite serious issues . Can I push them to change the car ? What are my rights here ? What would you do in my place ? I am sure that some of you around here could give me some good advice hence the reason of this post.
  13. I am driving lots of short tips , mainly in town and the best I am getting is around 40 mpg on a 2014 Elegance ,1.4 petrol DSG on ECO mode and Air Con 21 degrees always on. On next fill I will leave the car in normal mode and see if there is any significant difference
  14. What do you recon ? Are we going to see the First Octavia PHEV or full electric in 2019 or 2020 ? https://www.parkers.co.uk/car-advice/2018/skoda-plans-electric-car-assault-after-record-year/
  15. Thank you both for replies. I will try the CarPro Ceriglass solution and hopefully it may work in my case as they are very fine scratches and they can be seen only from a certain angle or direct sun . Ajamesr I know you are right and if they are serious deep scratches is almost impossible to get rid of them without marks/artifacts left .
