Internet radio
The WiFi on the drive check just reassures you the internet radio does work at least but as you hardly of any use. However as I said previously I think you can only access on the go in a seamless way when you have purchased an infotainment data package from Cubix. Sadly You no longer have the option to insert your own data sim on the MIB3 units. I should think you should be able to link it to a mobile hotspot as an internet source but I seem to remember this disables the inbuilt esim and cuts off other services you can of course use an internet radio app on CarPlay or Android Auto

Internet radio
Yes I have an MIB3 unit in my LK and it works fine. But it’s nothing to do with the Connect service. You need to have signed up to the data deal to get the internet in the car. You can then access the online stations and podcast and save them as shortcuts etc. Alternatively you can reconfigure the operation to access via a home home WiFi on your drive. I should think you can also set up your own mobile as a hotspot and use that internet - but this will disable the esim in the car for connected services

Skoda Kodiaq
Hi i think the official answer is that it is not possible, so what the dealer has told you is correct. However I seem to remember when the V C first came out a chap in Cz had a YouTube video of him doing exactly what you want on an older Kodiaq. However, this would no doubt impact on your warranty etc as half the instrument panel had to be removed and so on. Also, it would have been the MIB2 Columbus unit not MIB3. I’m sure you will be able to locate it. I have the VC in my L&K and it works fine, albeit the customisation options are not as easy or extensive as some people want.. it was not an option on my old 2018. SEL and I think it’s a good innovation.

Esim Plan
Glad it all worked for the hotspot eventually. Mine does. Yogi Bear is spot on with his reply. The esim is there it’s just what you pay for apart from the care connect services. You can check when any licences you have will expire in the Shop on MIB3 units and in the Connect app on MiB2. To clarify other points, in MIB3 the sim will download the map as long as you pay for the service. It’s not part of the lifetime care connect. also, you can now upload maps in MIB3 using the USB C slots in the console. The update portal has a guide for MIB3 users, including UK. Once you have a new map you do not have to use esim. Indeed, you can use an sd card as well by plugging in an address card reader with usb c lead (available on Amazon) for about £10) All my SD cards with music from my MIB 2 unit happily play through the MIB3 unit this way rather than use USB sticks

Iphone as a hotspot not connecting
Hi all I was suggesting concerned the hotspot settings on the IOS equipment. When you go into the Personal Hotspot settings on your phone you of course have to select Allow others to join but below the wifi password you should see all the connection options such as wifi, bluetooth or usb cable. They all work fine on my unit. If you dont see these options it might suggest it is more an Apple issue rather than on the MIB3 unit. That's all. The fact that you can connetc to your home wifi on the drive might support this view as well. Forgeting the car, can your phone act as a wif hotspot for someone else's phone? If so, its a Skoda problem - good luck the dealers dont know much about the MIB3 units Regards

Iphone as a hotspot not connecting
I have a month old L&K with an MIB3 unit. You are correct you will have to to disable the e-sim to set up a WiFi hotspot. Simple answer is yes I have linked my car to my home WiFi on the drive and both an IPhone and an IPad as a mobile hotspot. The only problem I had immediately after delivery was getting the data plan on the inbuilt e-sim but after a couple of calls to the provider all sorted. on your Apple device, have you set up the hotspot as usb/cable only or to include WiFi/Bluetooth as well? If you don’t the hotspot won’t work unless you have a usb connection. However if you can see your iPhone listed in the car it looks like it’s not the issue.
