  1. I originally was going to go to the first one in Sherwood Forest when it opened in the late 80s but my dad (who was paying for it) said it was

so phonomenally expensive that we did'nt end up going.

Anyway, now I have a family of my own, I took another look in January of this year & for a short break it was really cheap & really good (longleat). As it happened, our Octy vrs got nicked from outside the house in the early hours of the morning we were due to leave! After borrowing a car, we found that when we got there we had been given a free bottle of wine, box of Belgian chocolate and free bike hire for the week!

So, I was very impressed. SWMBO got a massage too so it was relaxing all round. So I guess it depends where you go & at what time of the year as to whether it's good value or not.

    Hope that helps :)

  2. I have an iPhone (in fact I'm using it now to write this!).

It is the best phone I've ever owned. Although other phones do have better features here or there, as an overall package it's really unbeatable. The ease of use and the fact that each feature fits with each other one seamlessly.

However, it's not perfect. Best bet is to check the apple website Apple (United Kingdom) and click on the iPhone section to see if it suits you.

    Hope that helps :)

  3. Hey everyone.

    A WARNING!!!!

Just phoned up the dealer on Autotrader to check how low he'd go to resell the Octy back to us & the guy is a LIAR and a CHEAT.

    Here's the phone conversation:

Me: Just phoning up about the Octavia - what can you tell me?

Dealer: Yeh, it's a lovely car, HPI is all clean.

Me: So it's not been stolen or anything?

Dealer: No, no nothing like that. Had 1 owner (erm, interesting as I was the second owner and the insurance company is the THIRD owner). In fact I knew the guy.

Me: Hmm, interesting. So how do you know me then?

    Dealer: Errrr....

He then proceeded to get very shirty and offish abouth the fact that he had just lied to me about every fact of the car (including the fact that it had been damaged in the police chase!!!) and said I should clear off! :rotz:

Well, that's him out of a sale - I was considering a bargain buy!

So buyers beware! Don't go near! Or if you fancy winding him up you can play the same game! I'm not recommending that btw :D

  4. Hey everyone

Just thought I'd let anyone who wants it know that the Insurance company or someone who's bought it at auction has put my octy up for sale!!! Reg no OV06 TZF. A bargaining chip might be that it says it has service history, but I actually have that in my cupboard since it wasn't requested by my insurers...

    Autotrader.co.uk £8495 :D

  5. Big thumbs up to all who've helped here - I think I will keep the new car - apparently the old Octy had been used in a burglary "spree" in Gloucester during the night and the coppers wanted to make sure it wasn't ME who had done it!

It was only found by chance, as in the pursuit from one of the burglaries, it lost the fuzz in a cloud of dust!!! Ahem. :D

Yes, it does belong to the insurers now, who give us first refusal, but I think they can keep it.

So, anyone who wants an Octy for cheap should go to their local auction house now!

  6. Hi all out there - this is my first proper post (just replies before) but my Skoda ownership has now gone down to 1, as my Octy vRS was nicked on Friday 9th :thumbdwn: It's race blue with the 18" wheels and green brake calipers (the only one I've seen in my area - any others I've seen are the later models with the red ones, mine was an '06 model) and, of course, a Briskoda sticker on the back window (plus the dealer Perry's it was bought from).

It had two of those Isofix child seats in the back which are impossible to remove without three arms and steel-plated fingers, so if anyone offers you a cheap Octy and has broken and bloody fingers, call the cops!!!

If anyone sees it...sniff...please call the police! Stroud, Gloucestershire area.

From a rather cheesed off Briskodian! :weeping:

  7. Interesting to read the posts in this thread...

I've tried BP Ultimate diesel, but with the nearest garage that sells it being about a 40-min drive away, it's not that economical to go there every week!

Anyway, I find that Shell v-power diesel makes the car run more smoothly and I also get more mpg out of the tank

That's just me though. Best advice, suck it and see. Tesco fuel is almost the same price where I live so I'd rather put the better stuff in :)

  8. people who tailgate even though you are travelling at the correct speed (in town), and, people who drive at 40mph where national limit applies and continue at same speed through towns / villages.

"Average Speeders" I call them. We have a section of road by us where it goes from 60, to 40 to 30. Every and I mean EVERY morning, some eeejit will do 40 through the 60, causing an enormous tailback, then sail away at 40 through the 30 zone...past the two schools...grrrrrr

  9. Didn't get the choice, but then again, I never asked as I figured it would just hold things up...been waiting so long now I'm glad I didn't

Update! Getting mine Monday, yay! .:yummy:

If in doubt - complain to the manager & threaten to go elsewhere!

Don't think I'll be in work on Monday...:D

  10. Did they ever make a 160bhp variant? I thought it was a 150bhp (the one with the red TDI badge - as opposed to the TDi with the red D and I - I used to own one!)

If so, it's news to me! :)

PS 1.9 was also originally a 110bhp before it was replaced with the 115 bhp
