  1. Hi all, i have/had a 2007 Octavia vRS TDi Today, i had a major breakdown, involving the destruction of my engine. Basically, the Engine mount on the left hand side next to the Expansion Tank, appears to have become detached from the engine, or at least near enough detached, causing the engine to drop and part of the mount to smash through the Cambelt Cover, smash the tensioner and the proceed to tear through the cambelt causing breakage and loss of engine. This all happened within about 30 seconds The only sign i had that something was wrong was when i heard a Clunk, and near instantly afterwards a high pitch squeal/whine (the belt rubbing) i had enough time to pull off of the DC (junction markers were up as it started whining) and as i went down the sliproad the belt snapped and the engine cut out, i then rolled to a halt in the next road, which was luckily just off of the sliproad. When the RAC man that Skoda Assist sent out to me arrived, he had a look and i showed him the damage. the belt cover had cracked, and lifted the engine cover up enough to unclip it, so with the engine cover removed, you could pull the belt cover further open and see inside. Unfortunately i didnt manage to get any photos of the damage to put here. It is likely that this could be a part failure, or manufacturing failure, as it does look like the mount had somehow become detached from the engine, or else it wouldnt have been able to drop, and the mount wouldnt have been able to then smash the cover and bend the tensioner. the car was taken to my local Skoda dealership, so will hopefully hear more tomorrow. However, it may be worth Sticky-ing this incase it is a part/maunfacturing issue. I'll leave that decision down to the Mods/Admin. The car had just over 3,300 Miles. I had had it for 11 days, im seriously ****ed off now.
  2. mine got dinged t'other night. I need a new front bumper, its cracked, and pushed in a little. Funnily enough, it was a Volvo too, a 2.5 20V Turbo, 85 Saloon, that didnt pull out as a car was about 4-500 metres away, i went to go and this green thing stopped me. Also my undertray or something behind he bumper is vibrating rather loudly between 1500 and 3000 revs when i throttle off, sounds like a really blowy exhaust, but isnt. going in Friday to get the resonance sorted, then a bumper later in summer. Oh, and i had only had it 6 days then... bummer.
  3. There is Badge Snobbery on every automotive forum out there Im generally not fussed by other marques, im a Regional Organiser for the Vauxhall Owners Network Club (I have a modifed 2.0 16v Cavalier Track/Fast Road Car), im into Fords a lot as my family used them for Rallying and my cousin has a very nice Escort RS Turbo, and my Uncle has a Rally Prepped Escort Mk2 RS2000, and 2x Mk1 Mexicos. Anywho, onto Skoda and Street Cred. I have found that the people most likely to give you stick for having a Skoda, are the people most jealous of it. Generally they know it (the Marque) has become an excellent example of a decent car in terms of build, reliabilty, comfort etc, all sold at a VERY reasonable and hard to beat price. Especially against well footed Marques/Models like a Ford Mondeo, Vauxhall Vectra etc etc look at the vRS Range as the prime example, overlooked as "Hot Hatches", but extremely capable, very well specced, and generally
  4. My vRS TDi is 1 week and 2 Days Old - 2900 Miles Bit gay as i will have the car for 100,000 miles, and said id do 40,000 a year... Might not be keeping it the 30months estimated if this rate of mileage continues...
  5. Thats the Missus's heap. She kept my track car in that state for nearly 6 months when i let her use it as a daily, so got her the E-Scrot instead. As for Bulbs, i just saw them in Halfords while looking for Silvatecs, found out the flashed orange, and that the Trade Discount Card i got through the VxON Club worked on them and bought them. Knocked
  6. Got some bits over weekend, just to tidy it up a bit in my eyes... Got some stealthy indicator bulbs, not Silvatecs, they are a Halfords bulb, a bluey-voilety-silvery-goldy thing, that flashes orange. Got Trade discount on them too! So the set of 4 worked out about
  7. Reading the Manual on my vRS about the Indicator Bulbs I need to know... Are they the the type with Opposite Bayonet Pins, or Offset Bayonet Pins? It doesnt say... Cheers in Advance
  8. Oh go on then... Thought everyone would be bored seeing them as 130 people have added themselves to the vRS2 Ownership list...
  9. All went fine Cheers all! Awesome Machine this thing...
  10. Cheers all. The car is being delivered to me, im not collecting it. but yeah, ill make sure i do all the checks you suggested... Thanks again...
  11. Hi All, Im finally taking delivery of my vRS tomorrow But, need to check it over when it arrives. Now, are there any potential issues i should look for? other than the obvious - scratches, damage, wrong spec etc etc Oh, and i have already found out on here to look for them rubber suspension wedges that they use on the transporters... Anything Else?
  12. My Comp. Car vRS TDi should arrive in my greasy mitts on Friday 25th... Been waiting 3 months...
  13. I'd have had a White one... had to settle for Black instead... ho hum.
  14. sooner than mine.... and your's has more spec? awwww.
  15. Does it look like this problem is slowly disappearing now? Im hoping that VAG are sorting it, maybe it's a reason behind the longer estimated delivery times at the moment...
  16. I have them on my Vauxhall... H4 Bi-Xenons, temperature 6000K Very impressive, and a lot better over standard bulbs!
  17. My vRS is on Order currently, it is to be my company car. However, due to the nature of my work, i can get filthy. I am looking for Front Seat Covers and Floor Mats. Not anything ****e, but heavy duty covers for the fronts, (anything with the vRS logo would be nice ) I Have found floormats on eBay with the vRS Logo Embroidered on, which ill likely end up with. Does anybody know of any seat covers that may be 'vRS' Emlazoned? Or where i could get some?
  18. Performance Ford magazine did an Air Filter test on a S2 Escort RS Turbo, the most power gains were recored with the Standard Airbox and a K&N Panel Filter, around 5BHP (Testing was carried out on a Rolling Road) So, i would imagine an increase on the vRS would be possible.
  19. It's not going to Cause any warranty issues unless you are unable to swap over a Standard Style Panel Filter. It's not difficult, and a 5-mins Max. job... The Panel Filters are proven to perform well on an otherwise Standard Induction system on the Vauxhall Engines (Which i am more familiar with TBH), Especially the VX V6's; so i can't see why it wouldn't improve on an otherwise Std vRS setup...
  20. If a club stand is booked, i think you can get discounted rates for track use/entry well i know we do with the VxON... IIRC, i ordered £40-odd worth of time in spetember, and ended up getting just over half back!
  21. Well mine is through a leasing company, and the order was confirmed on thursday. Spec is; vRS TDi 170 Hatchback Black Magic Dual zone air con, jumbo box and rear electric windows but i dont mind waiting, ish.
  22. Erm... I'm guessing that is the Stud Pattern PCD, not the overall Diameter... EDIT; sorry, realised you were also answering the Original Question... My apologies! haha
  23. Sorry if its a Hijack... Are the STD discs 312mm on the Octavia vRS II?
