  1. My rejected mk4 had the Climatic problems. Mine defaulted to full heat when it messed the bed. Mine also had other problems too.

The dealer had the car back twice stating they had fixed it, they had not.

I feel for the person who purchased it next as it has been sold. April registered 1.5 etec SEL in Titan Blue.

  2. When I had my mk4 it also had Auto Hold problems. The software (believe to the abs module) was carried out but alas did not fully fix mine.

Auto hold was one of the reasons my mk4 went back. The auto hold in my replacement Superb works without fault. You’d of thought the systems would not be a million miles apart but…

@awahwah - Out of interest, how does that time frame align with what they were told when they ordered it originally in March? Was the estimate roughly accurate?

A factory fresh order to my spec was quoted as 16 weeks but there was a standard spec model supposedly scheduled to hit the UK in September so I  went for that one. Fingers crossed that it arrives this year!

Looks like a 2 week delay. My father in law did make contact with the dealer though and expressed that if they cannot deliver in the agreed time frame he would want to look at other options. Maybe that focused minds.

  4. Another vote for the Superb having come from a mk4 Octy that I rejected.

I have the TSI 190 SportLine, more than enough get up and go. Mine was an exe Skoda UK car with 1300 on the clock. After all the discounts various parties gave me, it came out as £9 more a month than the mk4 etec.

Very recently went down West Country,  great drive and returned in the mid 40’s. Wasn’t hanging around but not driving silly as the kid was in the car. Was very happy with how it got down the road.

Thinking about buying one mk4 but these fault reports make me a bit worried. I understand that probably I won't be the one that suffers from that but anyway I'm willing to find out a bit more about that.

Are these considered to be serious errors? Basically I don't care much about navigation, info system etc. If engine works fine, lights are on, aircon works nicely then that's not the worst case. I understand that you might expect everything to be 100% perfect for a brand new car but in case (I hope it won't happen for me) something is not fine, I'd like these faults to be minor ones, not stalling engine or like that.

You mention Air Con, this was one of the faults with mine (rejected I add). The Air Con for me would black screen and default to full heat with full heated seats. A power cycle (engine off) would resolve but that is not feasible while on the Motorway.

    Your millage May very.

    Hi Awahwah

No, they new about the issue. I thought the SOS alert instructing me to return the car to the workshop was to get the new 1803 software update. Sadly not, on arrival they advised that the SOS alert may not be resolved as they were waiting for the new update from Skoda. But they would book the car in and load the latest software updates (although the system was slow). Screen still locked in loading settings mode! I suspect the SOS alert was just another one of those software glitches.

Well I hope they sort it for you.

Ok, so car went into workshop all day today for a much awaited software update to resolve management screen issues and a SOS alert. Advised on arrival that the SOS fix wasn’t available yet but they would update the car to the latest software ( also advised that the system with head office was slow today). Total waste of time. I am still getting the constant “updating settings” dreaded turning wheel, the management screen functions are still unavailable ( no radio etc.) although the car is deemed safe to drive. They returned the car and will call me once the SOS software fix is available, it is expected soon. Apparently if you enter a signal black spot . i.e. Portsmouth! this can trigger the SOS alert and by association cause the management system glitches I am experiencing?

I can access the management screen at the pre ignition stage but most of the functions will only display at ignition stage and as soon as I do this I get the constant “system updating” screen, although at the pre ignition stage I did manage to access the vehicle settings screen (see below). However, this hasn’t changed at all, so I don’t know what if anything has been updated. Nothing resolved!

Guess you go to Botley for service?

Chances are that they will download and install new software and firmware updates to correct all of the issues you've had prior to sale to the next victim  owner.

I wonder why they didn’t do that for me…either way, I don’t care anymore:)

  9. I’ve joined the club too. Mine had multiple Infotainment, Lane Assist, AirCon problems.

Yesterday was Hand back day and I almost didn’t make it. I dropped my girl off a preschool. The car got us there without any problem. Locked it, walked her in and went back to the car. Unlocked fine via Kessy. Tried to start it, message telling me the key was not found. Several attempts of locking and unlocking made no difference. I needed to walk away from the car before it worked.

In contrast, the Superb that replaced it just works.

My impressions from the very short time of owning it. Lots of promise poorly executed.  I will say, if I was told at point of sale that I’d be a beta tester, I would of worked with Skoda but they are never going to tell potential purchases that.

Mine has just appeared on the dealers website, I do feel sorry for the person who buys it.
