  1. Hi Guys, I get my new VRs tomorrow can any new owners tell me if the old matts fit? it does look possible, also are the fixings on the old (Vrs) mats part of the car, or can I transfare them to the new car? Cheers
  2. ) yep price looks good economy is the big one at the moment... Skoda offering tax free at the moment, so nearly 3k of the price. (I think need to check this when I get there.) Cheers
  3. Hi all, I have had the "Old" vrs for 4 years now, just coming upto its 4 year birthday at end of Jan, I am strongly thinking of getting the new Vrs, would you recomend this move from the desil to the new 1.4? I spose the charger/turbo combination removes the turbo lag, which I didnt really notice in the old one anyway. Im going in for the MOT on monday, so will have a chat with someone in the garage, but just thought I would ask the users. Will I be disapointed? I went from a clio 172 to the Vrs last time and was plesantly suprised, I will mostly use the car for comuting and long runs to north Scotland so cruise control and ride comfort would be nice. Cheers
  4. If the original poster is still reading this thread... I had mine remapped a few months back. (By wheel warriors, angel use these chaps in the merseyside area) A basic longish run I do from liverpool to Wolverhampton, (85 miles) I got about 65 mpg on average with good traffic conditions. After the remap I got 70mpg. would have been higher but I got stuck in traffic for half an hour!. the long term average I have noticed has dropped from about 50 mpg down to around 46mpg. This is based on my 25 mile usual route to work run which I probably drive a bit agressevley. I am very please with the remap and I havnt had any of the issues others mentioned about clutch slip etc... (I was worried about it but i drive carrefully and I think I have figured out where aboughts in the power range it is safe to boot it now
  5. Hi all. well after several posts and PM's to members I finally got it remaped! I cant beleive the diffrence it makes! No change to the engine note. It just goes quicker with no fuss. I havnt spotted any clutch slip as reported by some but maybe Im not trying hard enough? hehe. There isa little bit more smole when pushing on but no change when driving nicely. Thats it for me though. no more mods or tweaks. I am interested in the MPG increase as claimed. As I do several long runs upto Aberdeen and Wolverhampton. The best I have had back from Wolves has been 82mpg! with reasonable speed (About 60-65 most of the way) and traffic. Im planning to get the car put on a rolling road some time in the future but out of interest does anyone have the graph output after an angel tuning they would share? My friend has one for his highly tuned civic type R (In the reagion of 8k spent so far) and my beast nearly keeps up with it now! No real point to this post, just thought I would share and say Big grins from me Brin
  6. I bought F1's for the front of mine about a month ago, I think they are better than the originals. Mine is standard 130 atm. Interesting reading the post above from Philip26 about poor grip in second gear with a 174 bhp, but its better around corners. does this mean the conties where in a straight line in 2nd gear? Sorry for the post hijack! but I am thinking of remapping the car next month and am expecting similar stats as Philip. (I had Michelan Piolet Exalto 2's on my old clio 172 and though they where really good ) To bring it back to the op's question, I am happy with the F1's so I would go for them.
  7. yep, all sorted whatever i did in the semi dark this morning weemed to work, the water must have been frozen because it is all working now. I just need to get a new fuse for the reverse light. I only need that when parking at work so should be fine till the weekend. I spotted the reverse diagram as well. very sneeky of them.
  8. ahh cool, thanks for that. I will swap it over at lunch time and see what happens... Isnt swapping 5A for a 10A a bit risky?
  9. Hi all, On my drive into work this morning my window wipers and washers stopped working, it was about -2 degrees so not a major issue, At least it wasnt raining. Anyway. I have swapped over fuse number 13 with 15. (Reverse light and window wiper) So now the wipers are working, but Still no window wash? I dont think the water is frozen, as I just put in lots of antifreeze yestrday, but should I be able to hear a pump fire up? Can any one help? I cant see a fuse labled for washer motor or anything like that? Cheers
  10. I had a very minor vibration noise from some where around the glove box as well, I think it might have been the wire to the glove box light. I recently took the box out to fit a multichanger in there and when I put it back the noise stopped. I would take it off and maybe have a look at the wires. its really simple. You just take out the five screws and the right side will drop down a bit (Right hand drive car). Then open the passenger door and and push the trim off of the end of the dash board. Keep hold of the box when doing this as the wire for the light and the Air condition pipe is attached on the right side. Then just have a bit of a poke arround. I cant remember seeing anything else which would rattle down there. As said above the tray might be vibrating a bit. I took this out to put the changer in... Speaking of holding the box while accelerating. After I put the radio in I had a minor problem with it falling out when I accellerated! I didnt have the right facia platete at the time so I didnt secure it in fully. HTH Brin
  11. hehe, well all positive for Angel... Damnit you guys, I was looking for a reason not to do it It will be a few months away yet. but it looks like I am going to get it done. Chris22 I will post again after I get it. If you can hold out that long If not, I will look out for your report. Cheers all.
  12. Hi all. I know this is probably a bad question to ask, but are there any horror stories on the forum where a remap has gone wrong? I have read about engine mounts breaking and things, but is this common with a remap? I have seen a company called Angel Tuning (I Cant get the link to show the site it just puts this>) Chip Tuning VW, BMW, Audi and Alfa Romeo - Angel Tuning which looks to give good results. They will even take the remap off for a service. My Vrs is about 6 months old with 5k on the clock. I am was happy to stick with the standard car for now, but I am just puttung some feelers out. I want to increase the power and do all the usual springs and ARB stuff. Im not interested in changing the sound with Exhaust and inductions kits etc.... I am assuming the remap will change the sound slightly? This recent interest has came from a drive following a friend down to mid Wales along A&B roads, He was in an Audi TT 1.8 turbo, and I was able to keep up with him. he was quicker pulling away rom lights and things, but I was easily able to keep up when overtaking. Made me feel good I was thinking if I had a tiny bit more poke, I could have shown him who was boss. hehe. I dont think he was trying to hard to loose me tho...
  13. New member making my first post here. Recently bought a Fabia VRS, from the main dealer in Liverpool. My previous motor was a Clio 172, I was a bit worried with the drop in power from the clio to the Fabia, but I am loving this car. (It has nearly twice the torque so I havnt really noticed a drop in performance between the two in real life situations). I have had a quick browse through the forum and it looks full of usefull stuff. Cheers guys and gals. Brin
