  1. Nice write up, and good pictures. I look forward to following your racing carrer
  2. GRRRRRRR... Best I could find was £1200, Living in a Liverpool postcode seems to be a bigger bump in price than anything else! Im 34 with 15 years no claims...
  3. Ahh right, I have never noticed before. O well... You Win again DVLA. Thanks
  4. Hi all, I picked up my car at the end of January 29th, I just noticed today that my TAX disc runs out In December. Is this normal? I would have expected it to be registered in January so it should have a full year? so Jan-Jan I could maybe understand this if I got it at the start of the month, but not the last day of the month. On a completly unrelaited note, I saw my First VRS on the road today... a very nice Blue with White roof. Driver flashed, I was to slow to flash back, but he got a thumbs up and a big cheesy grin
  5. I have a similar intermittant issue, but alot more intermitant than ours. (Its happened twice in 6 months) I can usually open the doors no problem so Im not panicint at the moment, but your issue, aspecially with the kids in the car would worry me a bit more... I too wondered about the "unlocking in an accident" schenario while reading your first comment. The first thing a car is suposed to do is unlock the doors, then trigger the air bag... I'm assuming is would use the same mechanism it normaly uses to unlock the doors. So in theory this could happen and the doors would remain locked. Bit of a worry even if a very rare chance. Link to my issue, (But not much help to you) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/208017-key-not-locking-doors/
  6. Thanks Guys, Good to know its a Quirk of the car Its working fine again now, so will leave it till first service in a few months, unless it happens again! Ta.
  7. Hi All, I got out of the car this morning and clicked the key to open the back door, nothing happened. So I then put the key in the front door and turned (In both directions) and nothing happened? After a bit of faffing with keys and fob, I got in the front seat and managed to wrestle my laptop out of the back footwell, then the alarm went off. I then couldnt switch the alarm off with the key fob! (The battries are ok, as the red light on the key still flashes) I then got in with the alarm blarring and started the car, this stopped the alarm, so I switched off, closed the door and locked it with the key, (Which worked this time.) The fob not working has happened to me a few months ago, and I read on here is was a fairly common problem, But what about the key not working in the door? Has this happened to anyone else? And is it something I should be speaking to the dealer about? Cheers
  8. Welcome. Wait till you get used to the gear box and try it on a decent "A road"... I Just got back from the lake district... Still Grinning. haha
  9. I havent noticed it on mine. what colour is your car? (Mine is Blue, so not easy to see dark patches) I have just driven though the lake district at speed, and noticed lots of black dots on the front of my car though...
  10. Hmm, I just noticed the string on my door... hadnt seen that before. In the past I have spent upwards of £500 to get a decent system in a car (Clio 172, that had some rattles), It is pretty anoying having to do this to a new car, but as you say. the money can be offset on an octy service. worth getting it done as it sounds like this is a bit of a sore spot. I Hope you are liking the rest of the car!
  11. Hi Scott, Sorry to add this, but I just tried my car with the settings you posted, I have no rattles upto about 20! so it must be curable? Although it does sound like everything has been tried on your motor. (It is almost impossible to sit in the car with the volume on 20 and it can be heard clear as day from outside the car..) with the vol on about 14 I can stand outside and feel the door panels moving. Not sure why I have no vibration sounds? I tried the Band of Brothers sound track with lots of high pitch orcestral stuff, and some Akon with Deep bass. There was no bad noises from the car at all. (Besides Akon) My usual settings are: Bass 2 Mid 5 treb 5 loud on gal? 2 I have the Fade and Balance set to zero and the "Gal" set to 2? I have no idea what "Gal2 is? (There used to be a setting on my old radio that did some trickery, because the speakers where low down in the car, to try and lift the centre of the sound stage up. Could Gal do this? it isnt mentioned in the manual...) As it sounds like the vibration is caused by certain frequencies in your car, new speakers probably wont cure it. Im assuming the sound dedaning stuff the dealer put in has been left in? Looks like I have been lucky, This car was out of the showroom, is it possible it has been tweaked to be a good demo car for people to sit in while making their mind up? --- EDIT --- Might be a silly question, but do you have anything in the door pockets which might be rattling?
  12. haha, What did you tell her? just going to the shops love... I guess it is run in now as well. On a relaited note, the Touring cars are at Croft this weekend.
  13. Nice video. Was there anything there going faster than you on the track? or was this just selective editing ... The Atom (And quite a few of the others) "Should" have left you for dead. The car looked pretty sure footed in the wet as well, What tyres did you have on it?
  14. haha, Thank Junoman, I dont think he will get stung again... I didnt look around hard enough then. I did see two MK 1s as well, forgot about them
  15. I went to Oulton park last weekend for the BTCC. So as loads of hot hatches and fast cars are usually sighted in the car parks I placed a bet with my mate that we wouldn't see a VRS. (Which I won so he needs to get the beers next weekend) I still havnt seen another one on the road! Results for the day: Bentley Continentals 4 Porsches (Lost count) about 25 Ferrari 2 Fabia VRS 0 Fabia Monty 1
  16. I had a light flash (Couldnt tell you wich one tho) when I was taking someone for a spin as well, Im pretty sure its cos I booted it too hard whle it was cold.
  17. I was told thet the 10k is a guide on the Mark I, and it depends how it was driven? so it was likley to come on erlier if driven hard. No Idea if this was all lies to get more services in at the rate mine was asking for services it would have had 12 in 100k.
  18. haha, maybe we should have a JRW calender, and another one for the rest of us. I really liked Octy Nik's one as well, but piped by yht obvious choice. Great work
  19. As a follow up to my comment above, Mine hasnt used any oil at all on 4k miles now. As mentioned, driving ecconomicaly(Ish) I probably hit the red line a few times per 50 miles for the first 1000. (There is one section on the drive to work where it is impossible to accelerate slowley )
  20. Doh, Thats bad news Stu, dont let it get you down though! I noticed a rattle on mine, but it turned out to be the tax disc holder I attached, and sometimes the USB stick if I havnt pushed it back far enough. :S I seem to have been lucky as I dont have any rattles at the moment Even with the stereo up loud... (Sorry)
  21. I think it has all been said already above, Also dont worry about asking "Daft" questions... it was all a bit new to me as well, so I just gave it a try. The witchcraft used in the gear box seems almost foolproof, it wont let you drop down too many gears, if its going to put the revs through the bonnet, and it wont change up if the revs are too low. I usually drive in D and then knock it over to manual when I want "Briskness" but as said, you can just drop a few with the paddles whike it is still in D.
  22. Fuel Cap and door handles where on my list, but the biggest "issue" I have is that when you pull the front washer stalk, it takes about 2 seconds to start squirting. (or is this just mine?)
  23. hehe, havnt seen a tyre threat for a while Im on Dunlop Maxx, only 4k so far, no signs of wear yet.
  24. Hmm, I thought it was, but maybe not illegal per say, but you are not in control of the vehicle. But trying to prove it in court if an accident occured would be next to imposible... I got 82mpg in my old VRS, one of the most boring drives of my life! (round trip from liverpool to wolverhampton on the M6) god know what this must have been like.
