Yes it had to go in correct as there is the bolt tag on the strut so had to be in deep enough for the bolt to locate I just dont understand why its so high makes no sense will do a pic to show you the extra height.

Hi all just an update, So did all the suspension work all went back together well bit of a pia holding the shocks up by yourself while you maneuver the hub back into place lol but all done now only issue I seem to have is the front end seems to sit much higher than it used to by like maybe a good 3 inches or so. When I took the originals off I put a new one against an old one and length was all the same so im at a loss as to why its sitting so high now any thoughts please ???

That grinder really did the trick thanks guys just a quick question my mate called me today he has a fabia mk1 also is about to do his cv joint but is not sure what tool is needed to get the front hub off,drive shaft bolt its not the large nut its the hex/allen key one unsure of size to tell him does anyone know ???

Managed to lend a grinder so that nuts going brown Town tomorrow thanks for the advice guys 😀

Yes looking like cutting it unfortunately I don't own a grinder so looking like hacksaw and a fresh pack of blades and arm ache 🙄

I will try again with the trolley jack put some wood under it as well as the trolley jack was at full height and it had not popped back in no idea why as ive not butchered it in all honesty but will give it another shot tomorrow then ive still got to get it off the bar after hope thats less troublesome lol :P

I may be forced to do that but was hoping for an easier way than hacksawing off if possible i do have a nut splitter as well but it kept slipping on me could get no force on it :(

Hi all. So my r/h track rod end was shot so got a replacement tried to take old one off nut came off half way now just spins. Ive tried jacking it underneath but it now wont pop back into the hub so I cant tighten it or get it off so car is undrivable really until I can sort this out. Hopefully im being dumb or one of you guys has a handy trick up your sleeve

Right just to get the facts straight as Ken seems he'll bent on being a tool when I got the car the ac generator had a fault the guy had purchased a replacement but had not fitted it and yes the gas had all leaked out I've now fitted the new pump a friend has been round and vacuum tested it for leaks I then purchased the correct gas not cheap eco crap as I had already read about it being useless and at the same time I purchased a proper pipe and valve to introduce the gas eith a pressure gauge on it I simply did not put enough gas in I hope you feel better now Ken that I've been forced to give up half my life's story just to satisfy you 👍😉

And also KEN the law is based around the extraction and safe disposal of old refrigerant I'm breaking no laws by adding it or working on it.

Erm firstly this is a help site and I'm perfectly entitled to work on my own car and secondly before you go flapping your gums without knowing the facts this car had no gas in it when I got the car so all I've done is put some in so I've not helped destroy the ozone layer so kindly keep your unwanted comments to yourself if all you can offer is low level sarcasm and unsubstantiated accusations KEN.

Ah I think my refridgerant pressure may be low based on what you said needs more gassing it seems which might explain why they not kicking in will add some more gas and let you know the outcome

Do you happen to know the correct psi my guage should be reading for the coolant pressure ???

Ok so run the ac this morning on cold full blowers for about 15 mins fans did not come on then run it same but on hot still did not come on but i can hear the compressor kicking in and i had the valve on ac and there is plenty gas in it and it was cooling down but still no fans on low speed.

Yeah true I will try it and let you know ac should be good I only regassed it 3 months ago.

Oh did not try that after fuse changed I let it run hot and the fans came on should I still do that as well now then ???

got you I did check the strip fuse as this blew before ages ago I will just pop and check those other 2

So I ran engine for about 20 mins eith ac set on cold but fans never kicked in any ideas ???
