  1. Well it's not that bad. They do have to put the car into and out of the boat... I think their limit is the reserve wheel in the trunk. I seriously thought of bringing it with me in the plane, but then I'd have to pay a penalty for exceeding my luggage weight limit
  2. My car finally got to Portugal. Now they're going to send it in a ship to my place. The problem is (as weird as you may find it) all these cr***y transport companies let their employees and others steal whatever they can from the cars. Original carpets, cool gearknobs, jacks... whatever they can take out of the car. I went to the dealer and already took this: all the carpets, cigarrette lighter and the plastic box containing the jack and accessories from the trunk. My question is: what else is easily removable from the car that can be stolen? I now thought of the rear seat's head support and the gearknob. I couldn't take the gearknob out, if it's hard they won't take it either, but I completely forgot the rear seat. I can only go back there tomorrow, 'cause afterwards I'll fly back home and won't see the car before it arrives in the boat. Thanks for any help
  3. You can easily order the install guide from any dealer in Czechoslovakia
  4. The cruise control is in the middle of it, so there's no doubt where it can be found.
  5. Ok, let's look at a cruise control gadget in a left hand drive vRS We can draw a map too
  6. Sorry, now I got it. When you folks wrote right/left hand drive, I thought you meant the side of the road, and not the side of the steering wheel. Now it's clear why the rest of the world drives on the opposite side compaired with British roads. Everyone thought you meant the other side!! Is this confusing or what?
  7. Careful Shifty... after reading this someone may ask you wether you sit behind it, in front of it, or on it!!
  8. Thx Davy, thnx Mouse, it's good to know those little details. I've never seen the car and thanks to Briskoda, and you guys, I already know quite a lot about it! That would make my life living hell whenever I wanted to overtake any fat woman on the side of the road!!! I've checked the pics - the steering wheel is on the right side... which is on the left
  9. Yeah, here in Portugal, and also in Spain, it's simply known as Fabia RS - although the green V is in the badge
  10. Well... good luck then. Hope it's nothing serious
  11. Most of the cars I've used date back from the Roman Empire days
  12. That's great! They tought of everything! A dash illumination dimmer... That means my face being a green beacon in the night is optional
  13. Goodness! I never thought it would look THAT green! But that's ok. What I really care for is under the bonnet
  14. Unfortunately that's the only number whe can guess. It's a pitty, because the tax disc would surely do the trick... I don't know. Does anyone know wether a pump code would help in anyway?...
  15. That's why I ordered this car, even though it is quite expensive here. You see, when I get to work I have to drive from 100m to a 650m height (in 13km). Having good roads, I still cry for not having my vRS right now! 'Till then, my 63bhp Fiat will have to do... :(
  16. Thanks Chris. It's doesn't hurt to check those things too. I think everything's pretty much covered...
  17. Unfortunately it's impossible to read anything on it with these low quality pics. We'd need magical zooming software, similar to what they use in CSI Miami. The only number we can try to guess -using our imagination - is in the electric power steering pump.
  18. Just a thought... If we find out where the dude lives, why don't we schedule a day to go there all together? How many people could we get? We'd all buy ourselves some beer barrels, and show up at the poor fella's house, all 30 or 50 of us!! The Skoda People's Civil Movement!! No one can stop us now!!!!!! just kiddin'
  19. I agree with you there, besides many covers end up holding some dust between them and the seat, which ends up dirty anyway. I wanted to cover them, 'cause they'll get dirty and attract some monkeys around my neighbourhood: "Oh look! ain't those Captain Kirk's furniture in that skoda??!!" (there aren't many vRS's in my zone you see...) I'd like to save my car from that, but it's only worth if the covers look good. I'd hate to drive around in a car full of green potatoe bags instead of those nice seats. And in the case of the vRS, it seems to be hard to find good ones. Oh well, there goes my low-profile conspiracy plan...
  20. Stolen or not stolen, it brakes my heart to see a vRS stripped like that. One thing is sure, though, usually a car is much more profitable sold in parts than in a single piece. No gypo needed to find that out, every burglar with a piece of brain knows that already
  21. Please note that Freddy means pictures of your dash, we really don't care about your skinned knuckles
  22. Is that loss considerable? I currently use my mp3 reader in my car through a cassette-player adapter. I was going to buy a new stereo with an auxiliary socket to connect the mp3 reader directly, but with the new car coming I was hoping to keep the original CD Symphony. If not perhaps, I should get a new stereo anyway.
  23. At the end of the month a friend of mine will be picking up my vRS in Germany (a March 2006 model), where he'll be checking for any problems in the car. It's got a bit less than 4000 miles, has been used at the dealer's and it's got 1 year warranty left. I'm trying to make a checklist of the known main issues for this model, so that they can fix anything there is to fix before bringing it over. What should he be looking for? From what I've read in the forum, these are the main possible problems: Mechanical - Strange noise at one of the gears (2nd gear, right?) - Engine stutter, noticeable when changing gear, just over 2000 rpm (2006 EGR breathing its own farts) - Uncommon gearstick vibration - Knocking noises going over bumps and/or when cornering (anti roll bar problem or just new bushes needed) - "Moo'ing" rear brakes (German mad cows may have fiddled with my tasty green brakes) Others - Windows washers pumps - Fuel filler cap internal release - Buzzing from the speakers (speakers may have been abused by deaf drivers, or worse... Rammenstein fans) - Check the rear floor for any signs of moisture (rear doors water leaking or last Oktoberfest celebrated in the back seat) - Fraying seats or Fuzzing seat material - Obviously check if all the optionals are working fine (a/c , heated seats, front lamp washers, cruise bla, bla bla) Should he be looking for anything else? I'll be updating the post with any known common issues you think I should add.
