  1. The garage i bought from was not a skoda dealer and not the original supplier of the vehicle, it was a renault dealer who must have taken it in as part-ex. The reg certificate is in front of me now: Section 1, registered keeper, me Section 2, Previous registered keeper, his name and address, he acquired the vehicle on 03/09/2007. No. of former keepers: 2 Section 3, Declared new at 1st registration. It doesn't add up to me. Original Skoda dealer must have registered it on 14/12/2006 as that is the date of 1st registration on the reg doc.....so how did the first owner have it 9 months later? Cheers, Dan
  2. Does it tell me? It just details the previous owner who got it in May 07 if my memory serves - would have to check the reg doc.....so, if it was registered in 2006 surely the dealer couldnt have it registered for a year before selling it?
  3. Guys, I bought my 56 plate vRS, never looked at reg doc and was told by the salesman that it had 1 previous owner.....the reg doc came through the post this morning with my name on it and it lists 2 previous owners .....2 owners in 2 years doesn't feel as right as 1 owner from new......do I have a leg to stand on? Cheers, Dan
  4. This any good for £99 guys - saw it in my local halfords at that price yesterday....? Ripspeed DVD733B DVD/CD/MP3 Player from Halfords Price £149.99 New Tempted to put it in my Fabia vRS......if it has video in then surely it would be possible to hook up a freeview box? I know it plays DVD video and has USB/Line-in.... Cheers, Dan
  5. The rear drivers side door on my Fabia vRS (56 reg) wont open via either inner or outer handle unless I give the outer handle a firm thud with the palm of my hand.....any clues?? The door opens and closes fine then until I lock the car and unlock again the rear door refuses to open until again I hit it!:thumbdwn: Help! Dan
  6. Guys, I am starting to doubt the mpg readings I'm getting in my '56 plate standard Fabia vRS......on a 300 mile motorway trip it told me that I averaged 67.1mpg but driving 10 miles into work, stopping and starting in traffic, it tells me I averaged 69mpg??? Any ideas? Could the reading somehow be incorrect? Cheers, Dan
  7. Hi all, Picked up a silver 56 plate Fabia vRS today in Middlesborough, drove 300ish miles up to Aberdeen and averaged 67mpg!!! Or so the computer told me, is this possible? I wasn't driving too smoothly and did have a bit of fun on some twisty roads......67mpg??? If this is real then WOW!! Couple of niggles with the car, the first I assume will be covered by the manufacturers warranty - the drivers side rear door won't open, either by using the outside or inside door handles....all other doors open fine although the drivers door handle sticks sometimes, maybe a bit of WD40 will fix that? Also there's a nasty black stain on the light part of the drivers seat which I hope will come out via a valet/steam cleaner. My main question is about the rear door not opening....any ideas? Cheers, Dan
  8. Guys, I have an Octy mk II vRS (2006) but am away on business at the moment. I need to know if mine will have a feature to disable the passenger airbag with a key as I am picking up my new 37" TV before I have to get my toddler from nursery (forward facing seat). Cheers, Dan
  9. Hi All, I bought myself a nice new Nano video (the widescreen one) and want to know if I can get a lead to fit (if I can fit it!) into my Stream head unit to listen and power the ipod? I have seen an 'aux' option on the display and wonder if it can be utlisied for this? Cheers all! Dan
  10. Hi All, My wife has a 52 plate 1.4 MPi Blackline and must have hit a pheasant or something. I noticed that part of her lower front bumper grill is missing (not the main grill on bonnet), anyone got any ideas where I can buy one? It seems to be a multipart assembly so hopefully I can just buy the piece I need and clip it in. I haven't had much luck in scrapyards so far. Cheers, Dan
  11. ****!!!! To top it all off My wife just told me on the phone that a letter arrived this morning from the police saying I have been done for speeding!! It was on the morning when I was late to go down and take the vRS down to the garage and it turned out the salesman was on his day off after saying 'see you tomorrow' the night before............ironically I rushed down as I thought I was late and he wasn't even there!! I shouldn't have had to go down at in the first place!! 67mph in a 50mph stretch.....ARGHHH! 3 points and a fine here I come :(
  12. What I have learnt from all of this, and what I will do in future if I buy another new car is to ask for them to give in writing that the car is coming direct from the factory to my exact spec and all extras will be fitted at the factory. The other things like never being called back etc etc is just them being slackers really. :(
  13. Have spoken to Skoda Customer Services: "Sorry sir only the garage can decide whether to give you the other head unit" In other words "You're screwed" A strongly worded letter shall be written!
  14. Just had a look on that Skoda accessories site (cheers for the link!) and the Stream is £448.99 but the Stream MP3 is £444.15??? Cheaper for the better one? Eh?
  15. Hi Guys, Just logged back in after taking our little girl swimming.....believe it or not we pulled up next to a new race blue vRS in the car park...looked great...and had the 'proper' parking sensors, I looked through the window and right enough it had a stream mp3 in it....but this must have been the newer model as it had red calipers....I got mine painted red but they would have been green otherwise. Hopefully this answers most of your queries guys: - The car has done 4000 miles now so the 1000 mile return thing won't be valid - Although I ordered the car a fair while before picking it up this was down to my choice as I wanted to wait until my 3 points went off my license before insuring the car (August 1st 2006).....I always thought it was from the factory and wasn't told otherwise at any point before the car was handed over to me. - This whole crazy story that the owner was feeding me about ordering a car from the factory so that they could take off the bumper and put it on mine....well, god knows what's happened there, especially as I now have just a new bumper that has been sprayed. That car wasn't from the dealer network though....if indeed they did order a car at all and weren't yanking my chain. - They are a main dealer - full Skoda outfit....shocking eh? Thanks for all the support guys, I'll let you know how I get on when I speak to Skoda customer service tomorrow.
  16. If you look at my other posts you'll see I have posted under the 'dealer' section...... Thing is it never said 'factory sensors' just, 'rear parking sensors' on the paperwork......if only I was told at the start that they would be retrofitted it would have saved a lot of hassle.....apart from all of the other items!! I just want a stream mp3 now and I'll be happy(er). The lack of parking sensors I will just have to live with I suppose.
  17. Too right Dave. If I wasn't a laid back guy anyway I reckon this would have given me a nervous breakdown! But as they say "if you don't laugh, you cry"........I just won't recommend them to anyone in future.
  18. Hi all - I am new on here but it's great to read so much info on the Octavia vRS. I am writing to Skoda customer services (and probably my solicitor) about my saga so thought I may as well 'draft' it on here for you guys to read first: I ordered my new race blue vRS around June 2006 from a garage which is around 85 miles from my house. I ordered dual zone air con, cruise and then the next day I called up and asked the salesman if I was too late to add rear parking sensors onto the car, which he said wouldn't be a problem - we agreed I would pick up the car on August 1st 2006. So, all was good at this point and I couldn't wait to pick up my new race blue pride and joy. So, August 1st came and I went to pick up the car with a friend of mine. It looked great sitting there and we looked over it - I noticed when I opened the boot a small cheapy maplin style speaker hanging down by it's wires - when I asked the salesman he told me that it is meant to be stuck INSIDE the cabin by the bootlid?! I then looked at the sensors and they were horrible black discs protruding around 8mm from the bumper. I was a little dissapointed and drove away. When i got home I noticed a bit of the roof trim at the back was hanging down and a clip had snapped.....A few weeks later I was reading autocar magazine and came across a full page Skoda advert for my very car, I read at the bottom 'car shown has rear parking sensors etc etc'.....wait a sec! I can't even see them, I thought to myself! They were colour coded and as I now know and I'm sure you know are just slightly recessed in the bumper. I want to add at this point that whenever I put the car into reverse the system would wildly beep - even if nothing was there. I called the garage right away and spoke to the salesman who was as confused as me, he then told me he would check......nobody got back to me so a few days later I called back and spoke to the 'sales manager'. This is where the fun begins. Apparently I had been told (********) that the car was coming from the dealer network and that if a new car from the factory had been ordered it would have taken longer to arrive....????? What?! So the sensors which were on my car had been fitted at the garage and were NOT as per factory. I was raging! I spoke to the owner of the garage and it became the salesman's word against mine at this point. They agreed that they would take the car in, change the control unit as it was beeping away to itself, try to colour code the sensors and recess them or get a factory bumper.....I told them all along that I would only be happy with it as I have paid for as it comes from the factory - i.e. factory sensors as in the advert. Anyway, the car went in and to rub salt into the wound they gave me a new octavia estate as a courtesy car....with the proper sensors which display distance on the stereo display, they worked great and only beeped when I actually got close to an object at the rear of the car. I spoke to the service department and told them about the roof trim, also it was quite difficult to push the in-dash cd in to the head unit, I mentioned this in passing but the guy said they'd put in a new head unit - which was nice of him I thought. I picked the car up - they had simply colour coded the sensors and apparently put in a new control unit for the system. When driving home from the garage I noticed the roof trim was still hanging down - then I tried to listen to a cd in my boot changer and no bass at all, it only played treble!! Then when I was putting the car into my garage at home, the sensors went haywire again! GRRR! By this time I had been more than patient with them and I called Skoda customer services. They spoke to the garage, who lied through their back teeth and made it sound like I knew the car was not coming from the factory etc etc. So, I called the garage again (by this point my better half had passed her driving test and I bought her a fabia from the same garage....a few problems there too but let's stick with my Octavia vRS) and told them about the problem with the stereo and the roof trim and also that I am still very unhappy with the parking sensors. The owner of the garage told me there was nothing he could do and was really quite short with me on the phone.....what happened to 'the customer is always right'?! At the end of the call I told him that I wanted a new bumper without sensors and refund for the sensors, he reluctantly agreed but told me some bulls**t story about how he couldnt just get a new bumper and that he'd need to order a new vRS from the factory and register it in his name?! This would take up to 12 weeks for delivery...... So, 3 months later I called them (it's always ME phoning THEM) and I was told that all was in order to take my car down to sort out the bumper. They also told Skoda customer services the same story about the new vRS from the factory. So, I agreed with the salesman on the Monday that I was going down to get the bumper fitted and that I'd be down on the Tuesday morning and that I could get a courtesy car again, the call ended with him saying "See you tomorrow". So, I travel down on the Tuesday morning (note: listening to some MP3's which I had burned to a CD and playing in my in dash head unit, the dash cd sounded fine, the lack of bass only came from the changer), get to the garage and ask at the desk for the salesman....."Oh, it's his day off today"......WHAT?! He hadn't sorted a courtesy car......it gets better (worse for me!), the owner of the garage came out and told me it would take longer than a day anyway as it's a new bumper I am getting and it needs to go and get sprayed at the bodyshop?! What happened to the story about the new car and the bumper?? I am still patient but secretly raging inside. Skoda customer services were also confused about this and called the garage, they were told that, after seeing the vRS they had ordered and to make me 100% happy they had decided to put on a new bumper so it'd be a perfect match....why couldnt that have been done months ago???? 'Cowboys' springs to mind, but they are a main Skoda and Proton dealer. Back to me at the garage (for the umpteenth time....I managed to get a lovely :thumbdwn: proton car and I had to pay £10 to my insurance company to swap over my cover for 3 days so I could drive their car)....the owner was apologetic but words don't go far in these situations. Friday came and no call......I called the garage and was told it wasn't back from the bodyshop yet.......the phone rang at 4pm and I had to travel down, in rush hour, to pick up the car. I got caught in traffic and it was looking like I would get there at approximately 6pm - so i called the garage on route on my mobile and they were quite off with me saying "It had better be 6 as we'll be gone after then".....So not only am I put out on a Friday night and driving miles to collect my car after there numerous errors but now it's like they are doing me a favour for staying there waiting for me?!!! As it happened I got there at 5.45pm and looked around the car - the bumper looked fine and the roof trim had been fixed....the guy also told me that a new head unit had been put in and all was ok. I got back in my car and drove off, all seemed well UNTIL I put my mp3 cd in the dash and it spat it back at me saying "CDROM"......OH NO!! I quickly realised that they had put in a stream instead of a stream mp3 head unit......I drove home, still very very p'd off about how I had been treated and I have spent around £22,000 at this garage not to mention the phonecalls, my time, inconvenience and fuel! Not cheap! I called the garage owner on the Saturday morning and I told him the problem with the stereo....his reply was "I'll get a stream mp3 ordered and get someone to come up and fit it".....this was satisfactory. HOWEVER, the phone rang 10 minutes later and it was him again......."Bit of a funny one this"......oh here we go, what does he mean by that? Apparently, the first time the head unit had been changed due to the sticky in dash cd slot, they had changed it out for a stream mp3 IN ERROR and now it's been changed again, it's been changed for what it should be, a normal stream.....in other words he was saying 'tough' to me.....so I'm now stuck with a stream head unit....but I WILL fight this and contact Skoda customer services, I think that shortly after I bought my car Skoda changed the vRS model to have red calipers and the stream mp3 head unit as standard....I'm through with dealing with the garage, you'd think out of courtesy and for all the inconvenience they have caused me that they would just get me a stream mp3 as it was their error. I am hoping to receive my refund for the sensors this week....and hope it's the correct amount.......I love the car but this whole experience has ruined the experience of buying my 1st new car. So guys, thanks for reading my 'essay'! Not good eh? I'll let you know if it gets resolved. PM me if you want to know the garage name, I don't want to put it on the public forum.
  19. Very poor service, bought 2 cars from them - had problems with both.
