Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
Hello, is anybody able to point me towards the latest firmware for 5Q0035874C? (Amundsen MY18 with dab) I'm on 0471. I believe the latest is 0480. Much appreciated 👍

SOS error - is this normal?
Not sure what's relevant so I've grabbed it all (i think!) I did have a couple of possibly relevant DTC stored, not sure if they're relevant but the time is correct on the top one

SOS error - is this normal?
Thanks, i think you're that it's location sensitive. I guess there are multiple faults that all show the same SOS message on the dash? Good to know that your nav still works when you have the error, that leads me to believe the GPS antenna (or wiring) is at fault in my case. Need to keep my code reader in the car and see if anything comes up when it occurs.

SOS error - is this normal?
Morning, I'm sure we've all had the annoying SOS error from time to time. What I want to know is if your nav and Android Auto connection also stops working when the SOS error happens? It seems like my problem is linked to GPS as when i get the SOS message, the nav doesn't work, or AA, and the little location thing in the MFD just shows an arrow without the compass direction. Wondering if I have a bad GPS aerial connection or something as when it's cold it seems to occur more often. edit- also it never occurs during a drive, only when starting the car. If it works when I drive off, it will stay working all day.

All season tyres to fit 19 inch Xtreme wheels on VRS?
Thanks mate, I'm in Essex SS13 postcode. I'd seen the BluEarth before but they review badly. Must admit I also ignored the Quatrac Pro as had bad experience with Vreds previously. According to Tyre Reviews they're actually not too bad so that could be an option... The wheelspin in general on this car is bloody terrible though. Combination of the lag on the throttle, DSG changing up (or not) randomly and overly firm suspension. Nothing happening, nothing happening, nothing happening ... BURNOUT!! 😂 It's so much worse than my MK2 VRS was, it's honestly making me think of chopping the car in 😔

All season tyres to fit 19 inch Xtreme wheels on VRS?
Anybody know of a decent all season for these wheels? I had wheelspin in 4th gear last night and I wasn't even trying! The size is 225/35 r19 Ideally after something premium like Cross Climate 2, Bridgestone Weather Control, Hankook Kinergy 4S2, Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 Have searched on many sites and only finding cheap chinese tyres.

SD card stuck
Interesting, mine was from there as well... Still wouldn't have any problem recommending them. I had a couple of quibbles with the car and they sorted it no questions asked.

SD card stuck
Hi mate, unfortunately it was a dealer job. I think you'd need some kind of tool to release it. It certainly wouldn't budge at all with needlenose pliers. Where did you get the car from out of interest?

Lets see your painted diamond cut wheels (19" Xtremes)
Found a couple of old threads but all the examples were black or anthracite. My car is black and I'm not a massive fan of dark wheels on black cars. Was thinking something like this but I'm not sure im brave enough lol

Rim protection on 19" extremes
I know 235 is the width but will fitting 235s change the speedo accuracy as an unintended side effect? Mine's already pretty much bang on with GPS so I don't want it to under-read.

Anything I can do to improve the DSG on an 18 plate VRS?
Car was in for a 4 year (major) service ('18 plate), I don't believe the DSG oil was due a change yet as the car only has 25K miles. The person I spoke to was the service desk person, seemed to be the only person there anyway as I was collecting at the end of the day after work. I assume firmware updates aren't normally done automatically during Skoda main dealer services?

Anything I can do to improve the DSG on an 18 plate VRS?
Well it's now been to the dealer "we can't find anything wrong sir". Now here's a question, is it difficult to check/update the gearbox software? The dealers were evasive and non-committal regarding the software and versions, which leads to be believe they didn't actually bother doing the checks I asked. Typical main dealer I suppose. Tempted to stick a DSG map on it next time I've got some cash burning a hole in my pocket. If I do i think it will be the tvs engineering stage 2+ map as recommended by a few on here 👍

Yeah i mean maybe it's 1100 or whatever, but very near 1K on the rev dial. Miles off the boost threshold anyway so there's no way you could accelerate at any reasonable rate. I don't think there are any faults, other than the usual DSG moans I see. It's generally smooth and fast changing. It's tempting! TVS is the one I've been recommended a few times now so if the dealer can't sort it, i will look into it.

Yeah I do that when driving for enjoyment, but i can't be arsed on my commute. The gearbox should just do the right thing. The worst thing is that I have a long 50 limit on my commute and whentraffic drops to 40, it keeps 6th gear with the engine @ about 1000RPM so there's just nothing when the traffic gets going again and it's really quite reluctant to change down unless you stab at the throttle. Thanks mate, I will. Do you know, are firmware updates made available to indies or just main dealers?

Thanks I have a service booked for early September, so I will ask then. Hopefully they don't want silly money for the update(s). Thanks - Which one do you have Marky?

I've got a VRS 230 and I've started to get a bit fed up with how the DSG works. Basically it wants to keep the engine at about 1200 RPM. So at around 20mph it changes to 4th gear, at 40 or something it's in 6th. Whenever you want to accelerate, it's off boost so it has to do a gear change (or two) before it gets going. It makes the car feel so slow compared to my old manual which just felt effortless. 😒 I basically want it to target RPM at say 2000 like you would when driving a manual. S mode is too extreme for normal driving as it will often keep the RPM at around 4000. Is a DSG remap the only option?

SD card stuck
So good news and bad news on this. Good news, the card has been freed, undamaged. Bad news, it was an SD card locker theft prevention device, so presumably I've paid top whack for an ex-hire vehicle. 🤦♂️

SD card stuck
Haha, yeah I did know but that would have been a proper Homer Simpson d'oh moment! 😄 It's completely solid, can't push it in to make it click and release. Shame they didn't put a little pin hole to release the mechanism like you used to get on old cdrom/floppy disk drives (showing my age there i suspect!!)

SD card stuck
Thanks, that's what I feared. The card in slot 1 is wedged solid, so I guess I'll be visiting a garage then 😪 (unless anyone knows a trick to release it)

SD card stuck
Hi I've just got an '18 plate VRS with Nav and it has two SD card slots in the glovebox. There is an SD card already in the left slot, but it is stuck fast. Nav does work, but i want to update the maps. Just checking - is this card meant to be stuck (and therefore I should just put the update on another SD and use slot 2 )? If not and it's a fault - is this a known issue and is there a way to release the card? There is nothing to grab onto without risking breaking the sd card, there is only a tiny bit sticking out. thanks!
