  1. agree with the manny. drove it this weekend in my missus Pug 307 (sorry!) and it was a joy to drive (even in a peugeot)
  2. yeah maybe i will just wait a while and get the racing blue colour..... saying that.........im not too sure i can wait that long. they still look great in silver or black!
  3. Thanks for all your input everyone. i certainly feel a lot more positive about a mk1 now after listening to your comments. havent started shopping around much yet so i didnt think £7k would get me sumthing as new as a 2003/2004 plate. saw a lovely black one in a skoda garage just outside pontypridd for £10k and that was on a 54 plate so i was guessing when i thought i could only afford a much older model for £7k!! now i feel so much better! The racing blue colour is a brand new model i take it? coz i havent seena mk1 in that colour??? i love the colour! and thats the one i want.........but i guess im gonna have to wait a few years to afford one of them!
  4. ok. cheers should i be worried if mileage is high? im guessing quite a few of them will have been "ragged" by now?? would i get sumthing decent for £7k??
  5. Excuse me if this question has been asked a million times but im new to the forum and looking for a bit of buying advice. i desperatly want a mk1 Octavia Vrs and although every review ive read on the internet has nothing but praise for the car, i have just beeen informed by a friend that hes heard that the 2001 model had quite a few problems engine wise. Can anybody clarify this? my budget doesnt allow me to get a newer version of the car and pricewise im looking at the 2001 and 2002 models possibly. Are there any things in particular i should look for in the mk1 octavia? having never owned a skoda of any kind im really uncertain on what things to keep an eye out for. im guessing service history is a must. Were there any recalls with the mk1? Any tips, problems, issues to keep an eye out for would be invaluable. Your help in this matter would be very much appreciated. cheers, Andrew.
  6. yeah definately werent me mate if it happened in scotland...........never been up north sorry....
  7. sounds about right!! i love my capri but i think its time to move onto something a bit more modern!
  8. well the missus quite likes the peugeot 307 so i might get her one of those and myself an octavia vrs. will take your advice though and test drive both the petrol and diesel versions.
  9. to be honest, ive never had a diesel and have no intention of gettin a diesel. i drive a diesel van to work and thats quite enough for me! obviously modern diesel engine cars are no longer slow noisy smelly things, i appreciate that, but call me old fashioned, you cant beat a big powerful gas guzzling petrol engine! ive heard so many good things about the octavia vrs and there doesnt seem to be anything bad to say about them. hopefully they are very reliable and servicing quite reasonable? the only problem i have is that the dragon (i mean the missus) already says that the mondeo is too big...........the octavia isint exactly small is it??? im thinking of buying her a small car, selling the capri and gettin myself a nice new vrs to run around in. sound a good plan??? :-)
  10. hell yeah......very scary in the wet!!!
  11. G'day everyone. My name is Andrew and i live near Swansea in South Wales. Currently driving a Ford Mundano (zzzz) but when its dry and sunny i drive my 1984 Ford Capri 2.8i (please dont laugh!)..... Seriously thinking of changing the V6 mondeo for a Skoda Octavia Vrs. I absolutley love the look of them and desperatley want one in the future (even though i havent even driven one yet!!!) Any buying tips and hints on what to look out for on a used Vrs would be very much appreciated! Thanks Andrew
