Common VAG fault with several possible causes ranging from broken wires in the loom in the door jamb area, another known fault is the door module itself.

When the door is next open please ensure the child lock system is OFF as the lock will totally fail at some point, and if this happens with the child lock on you are in a world of trouble.

Wires in the door jamb can be checked for damage easily by pulling off the rubber bellows.

Checking the lock involves removing the door card, inner door hanger, door glass and outside handle - to be honest if you go to this much hassle just have a replacement handy and swap it over anyway!

Thanks for the response. I think I’ll just take it to the dealers in that case.

  2. A couple of weeks ago my rear o/s door started to randomly not unlock when using the central locking remote. I was having to reach inside and open it. I was going to get it looked at when it went in for it's MOT last week but it randomly decided to start working again so I left it. I started noticing in the last few days that when I lock the car I can hear the locking mechanism working on that door but it is rapidly clunking like it is struggling to lock......which today I discovered is what seems to be happening. Whilst driving to the supermarket I could hear the lock constantly trying to engage and I'm guessing it was trying to lock itself automatically, as it does when you pull away after started up. When I got home I locked the car and tried the back door and sure enough it was unlocked.
Any ideas on this? Faulty lock perhaps?
  3. My 2016 1.2 Yeti went in for an MOT yesterday and afterwards the engine warning light came on and I paid to have it diagnosed and I’m told that the G140 downstream o2 sensor needs replacing. The dealership had quoted £261.89 for a new one to be fitted, which seems steep (£152.24 for the sensor itself). Any ideas on whether I could source one cheaper?

Yeah thats right, blame the innocent party, driving too fast, did not brake, did not swerve etc etc.

The Morgan was clearly in the wrong but the person in the car behind maybe should have prioritised taking evasive action by turning right a bit and overtaking rather than just using the horn.

It's pretty good on the more scenic roads as well, I had a trip down into the Scottish borders a couple of months back and my passenger remarked that it handled the twisty stuff just as well as his Golf.  He was a bit dubious at first, but after the first few miles he let go of the Jesus handle! :D

Don't expect good fuel economy on that sort of trip though. ;)

I live in a village so get to experience the twisty bits and it is indeed good fun and handles well.

  6. Compressor fitted but unfortunately the system is not holding pressure so Big Red is having to stay overnight :(

I’ve got one of the new Fabias as a courtesy car and I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the little 1Ltr 3 pot in it.

  7. I recently bought a 2016 SE 1.2 and I’ve noticed a kind of loud intermittent grinding sort of noise coming from the engine bay when my aircon is on. I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow to get Smartlink activated and I’ve asked them to look at it, but was wondering if anyone wanted to hazard a guess at what it might be.
