A skoda octavia is a family motor and looks daft with a pretend rear wing ,a gt3rs has one to keep its back end planted as its a very fast car ,but its each to their own if you like it thats good its just different tastes ,i hated the civic type r it looked like an 8 year old had designed it but it was a fantastic thing to drive .

TW I know about automotive software, firmware and electronics. I know F all about mechanics and changing a wheel or fitting petrol is my limit :-) Its funny you say that because the fellow that does my mot knows all about mechanics and f all about electronic software issues .

Maybe its with the advent of electric vehicles ,those sort of changes would kill off most of the small places ,but gov says alot and does little usually, they have been talking for years at possible having mots every 2 years but not heard much about it for a while .

Well enlighten us .what are these changes that are coming .

Nobody said insurance wasnt going to be an issue just mot ,anyone with half a brain knows insurance will be more difficult ,but its all doable it just costs alot more money and finding the right one ,plenty of highly modded cars on road and fully legal.

Just bought 6 litres of oil and a filter for mine £59 quid ,another 12 months has passed ,so car up ramps me on my back in the morning ,at least the vrs tsi is a very simple job .

Why not put 5w30 in it then same as the golf r runs ,which is hot hatch rather than a warm family hatch .

You allready know the reccomended oil for the 245 is 0w20 as discussed in a previous thread today so why go against the reccomended vw stuff ,the 220 and the 230 ran 5w30 the 245 ran 0w20 to pass emmisions .

The 220 and the 230 run 5w30 the 245 was put on 0w20 to pass emission rules.

I never said it would not require lots of electrical changes ,ive no idea if he told insurance i assume he did as cars are his business ,as for mot i suppose it went like any other mot ,what needed checking will have been checked ,people have been swapping engines etc for years and its not a proplem to get cars mot ,if you have the skill know how and equipment anything is doable.

Theres a fellow on you tube put the rs3 engine and 4 wheel drive into a mk3 octavia vrs .
