  1. Okay a simple test: Car prior to remap had the best 0-60 times (trial and error approx 50 times in the span of 1-2 months) of 6.24 seconds. Remap done, dyno’d at 195bhp with misfiring issues (and an overdue oil + oil filter replacement issue) possibly holding back the 10-20 extra horses. spark plugs sorted, car worked wonders. Now best 0-60 time i’ve got recorded is 5.75 seconds. This time i did the launches around 15 times and within about 1-2 weeks of replacing the plugs and different weather conditions and different roads I achieved that without adjusting it further aside from the plugs. this clearly tells me the map has worked, i just do not want to dyno it for one final figure unless im absolutely certain i dont have any misfiring issues what so ever. So if i need new R8 coil packs as insurance, ill do that. ive attached engine replacement invoice
  2. Thats awesome. Im really keen on getting on the dyno once more but not until im absolutely certain theres no misfires or anything that will hold back the slightest bit of power so maybe a fresh tank of oil and a new oil filter along with this misfire issue rectified will give me some great results i hope I’m really keen on doing a Fabia VRS meet has anyone done one or been to one? How to organise one?
  3. I have no issues with people having different views, I actually encourage that as it gives me insight into what other option is possible or what someone else thinks is the right way and why. I take offence when people use silly sayings like blind leading the blind really unecessary if you ask me.
  4. I appreciate that but theres a way you advise someone in a preventative manner and theres a way to make it sound they’re being stupid and have no clue what they’re getting into. My car is and was always the CTHE code, when i bought it from Skoda Eastbourne they advised me the previous owner sold it to them and they replaced the engine and all its components (which they’ve provided me with an invoice as evidence) so what the reason was or why the engine change i didnt question i was just really happy with it and still 8 months down the line more happier.. i’ve just come here with a common issue that has nothing to do with any modifications ive done but as a result of the dyno. I was driving it for over two weeks post-remap with no issues the second i drive away from the ramp of the dyno its misifiring
  5. Not really sure where you got launch control from as I never mentioned i have that or anything. i drive very sensibly, at times i put my foot down and only get pops and bangs high in the rpm range which i dont always visit. Yes pops and bangs can be bad for the engine but mainly in the lower range of the RPM’s. Between 1-4k i dont have popping and banging. this is my project and ive modified it to my appeals. Whether you or anyone else believes its a wrong decision or inadvisable is down to your liking but each to their own, same how some have miltek exhausts others dont, some have GFB DV+ and find the turbo work alot better like myself and others dont. Opinions vary, and I just think it completely sucks for you people to be so pessimistic about a new comer that’s trying out things that may have been tried before by others and failed rather than hoping for the best. Really nice bunch you are lol
  6. In your opinion its a mistake to remap a car before all is in order. Funny thing is ive made it clear twice the car was and still is immaculate. Thats why i didnt modify anything in the first 6 months of ownership. You think i’m just diving head first not knowing anything and making mistakes ive done my research thats why i dont have the CAVE engine and other mistakes people have made buddy. I suffer from memory loss and for you to class that as ignorance is a very bold move. but hey, no one is forcing you to respond to each and every single query i post.
  7. The remap did not cause the misfire. the dyno caused it. Many people have come back with these kind of issues after dyno’ing any car really just google and check that. once i got the plugs replaced it was fine. Now its started again but i suppose it could be because i had pops installed on the ECU and due to high revving potentially a plug has busted again? i will check the plugs first and if they seem fine i suppose i’ll get the coilpacks do you have a link for me for the correct coils?
  8. Wow thats unbelievable i suppose revving it hard isnt a good idea then. Yeah i will check them again, i have the rev limiter removed, decat and straight piped it really so its always tempting to rev it higher in the RPM for that eargasm is your miltek non-res? any videos?
  9. Denso’s fitted a month ago. I havent touched the coil packs just looking the upgrade them to the r8 ones as they have been good for a lot of people i will check the plugs again but its a nuisance to get them out i am not on the facebook group no, but that’d be interesting if they hold car meets etc which 2 wires are you talking about?
  10. As the title says, changed the plugs about a month or so ago, seemed to have cured the misfire at the time and now its back, only when you floor it between around 4-5k rpm it has a slight misfire and because i’ve decatted it, it’s much more noticeable. I am looking to upgrade the coils, R8 coilpacks have been spoken highly of so i suppose thats the way to go? Awesomegti sells them for RS3’s then theres a 2.0TFSI version and a 1.8.. all different prices, which one fits the Fabia VRS? if the problem persists take it to a VAG specialist for diagnostics?
  11. Wow that’s smart but stupid at the same time, because now i wonder what else they may have done to hold back the full potential of these that we haven’t discovered yet.. how can i or what should i google to find out how to remove the excess weight and if it’s safe to do so? We should all arrange for a Fabia VRS meet at Santa pod or something that’d be interesting
  12. If its 15-20kg that the hatch is weighing MORE than the estate then i’ll be curious as to what this is and how to remove it if possible?? Potentially quicker and more MPG’s right? i think it’s just that i have to drive for about 20-30 mins (warms the engine, oil, tyres and the lot up nicely), im using literally 3 week brand new Uniroyals and have never put anything but V-Power since owning the car. The video’s i’m still struggling with grip slightly, getting wheelspin for abit of it so im super curious what kind of time it will do at Santa pod (where abouts are you based)
  13. Im struggling to understand you George, because above it seemed like you said the hatch was 5kg more which is correct if you’re checking autotrader for the car specs/dimensions the difference between the hatch and estate shows indeed as being 5kg surplus for the hatch. which makes no sense, how can a vehicle that’s larger in length, have more capacity and posses more weight be LIGHTER than a compact version? i dont trust given figures anyways, go by the books, you’ll be getting 45mpg, 0-60 in 7.3 seconds according to reviews by autocar topgear and the lot of them, as those are probably figures given by VW which are clearly incorrect. I’ve never gotten more than 37-38mpg... the question is, why purposely add more weight even if its 5kg to the hatch performance, here we have other manufacturers stripping as much weight as possible and the VRS.... adds?
  14. I have always wondered why the estate, a longer, potentially more size meaning more weight, would weigh 5kg less despite it being 0.2m longer etc.. so they have added extra weight to the bumper? How would i remove that? i presume 5kg wouldn’t make a significant difference though would it?
  15. Enlighten me on this bumper weight removal what’s that??? Yeah thats what i meant, I’m pretty sure i didnt hit 60mph in 5.25 seconds but for argument sake if it was 57mph and i misjudged the video (as its based only on eyesight and not physical dials/numbers) then we add 0.5 seconds so still well below 6 seconds meaning im heading towards the goal!
  16. Only between gear 1-2 the upshift doesnt seem very smooth as on the speedo you can see it dropping slightly. Any particular reason? this is why i measured 0-60 times, i know 0-60 isnt 100kmh thats not what we’re trying to accomplish. I time all my runs using dragy and dragy measures 0-60 only not 0-62mph. If i wanted to start doing that using my own method it would be inaccurate. This video i created at 3am just to kind of give you a hint of what i’m looking at in terms of performance and to see what i could do better. But even if the needle is misjudged to 57mph, that would be 0.5 of a second added to the time in the frozen frame which still would put the 0-60 time below 6 seconds. Also if you watch the video again, i tried to pause it at 100km/h but the correlation between the speedo needle and KM/h is so so inaccurate as the km/h is digital and not very on time
  17. Hi everyone i’ve made a youtube video (as i couldnt upload the videos on here) with a compilation of 3 different launches i did in my VRS, please have a look and let me know your thoughts/opinion, i’m happy to hear anything, critics, tips, advice so I could improve recording/time or anything in general really also read the description under the video please much appreciated! https://youtu.be/oEswmqhN6EM
  18. Everyone gets amusement from different things their car’s are capable of, speed, fuel economy, exhausts, mods etc etc etc. i was merely pointing out the above, 3 times people were mentioning how im not achieving any power between 7-8000rpm so i was expressing that i knew that fully and only got it done for the exhaust mod! silly to think one person’s vehicle, be it good or bad will generalise an entire range of the same vehicle’s owners? I mean the Type-r EP3 has been known for ages as a boy racer car as many have over done the childish mods, key word MANY have ruined it. So dont think i’ll give anyone a bad name.. as for launches, i’m sensible with it but cheers for the heads up bud
  19. Oh right i see i wouldnt know if it is capable of convert into that but im happy to check though i’d probably need a step by step guide lol for gods sake, for like the 3rd time, i’ve only removed the rev limiter as it was part of the exhaust popping system. I didnt remove the rev limiter in hopes of gaining power between 7000-8000rpm’s it was solely removed for pops and bangs not for power gains!! i am about to begin filming the dash from launch, anything else you’d advise me of filming whilst im at it let me know
  20. To achieve what exactly? Sorry really struggling to understand also; that video is insane, must be a stage 3 with major upgrades not to mention it’s in KM/H which will always look mind blowing on the dash
  21. Correct not much power but when i got the pops and bangs installed, removing the rev limiter was part of the package thus allowing the revs to reach fully 8000 rpm
  22. Not sure what VOB files are im going to do a few runs now and upload to youtube to see how and what exactly any tips? thinking to mount it to be facing the speedometer only
  23. By the way, i’m looking the decat it and straight pipe it right through any advice?
  24. Yes it starts there but since i got the pops and bangs, rev limiter removed, my VRS has been going to 8000rpm. i’ll do a video with my gopro recording the dash on a launch and i’ll time myself on that same run too using dragy
