  1. Another member is helping me activate anti-hijack and central locking alert using Vag Com. Could anyone let me know where the port is on the Superb?
  2. Where did you manage to get one? I'm still looking. If it has been fitted, and more details on how effective/user friendly it is?
  3. Unless someone has a better solution, it's the best that's currently available. The Ipod was launched in October 2001. The DX head unit predates the launch of the Ipod. There's no reason why ID tags should be displayed on a unit that pre-dated the Ipod. Maybe rather than calling the solution 'crappy' (since it does what it promises) you could suggest a better one? As far as I know, the Dension 500 which is fibre optic based, will display ID tags but is incompatible with these VAG head units. By the way, you want to watch who you call 'my dear', some people take offence.
  4. As the 300 is much cheaper than the 400 (and available), I'd be interested in this cable and what is does, and how much it costs. I want to retain the CD. Would you please post when you have one (and where you got it from) and how much it costs? Thanks
  5. Yes I've been speaking to Tom. He's becoming so exasperated with the manufacturers that he's considering not stocking them. I'm surprised someone said they're being discontinued. I spoke to the importers last week and they said they should be here this week. As for the 300 being compatible, as far as I know they always have been compatible, but you lose CD functionality, which is what I'm trying to avoid
  6. I'm trying to buy a 400 but all the online retailers report no stock and the importers are constantly quoting (for the last three months anyway) availability is 'next week'. Anyone bought one recently?
  7. I've been looking at doing this as well. The Skoda product looks similar to (or actually is) the Dension Icelink 300. It substitutes for your CD changer (i.e. you lose CD functionality) If you want to retain the CD multichanger, there is a product called a Dension Icelink 400. It is supposed to retail at about
  8. From full to almost empty about 450 - 500 miles, mostly cross country, not many motorway miles. High 30s to low 40s mpg via the maxidot.
  9. I bought a 2.5 Tdi Elegance a couple of months ago with about 25K on the clock. It's had one service and is on the variable schedule. I've no idea when the next service may be due. Do the electronics alert you to ' Service due in 1500 miles' like a Merc/Audi, or what? Any help greatly appreciated.
  10. I could only find the 'larger' mini fuses. I'll pick a couple up from the dealer on the way home tomorrow
  11. For those who are interested (and it really is a ten minute job), I worked it out (after a blown fuse or two!) On the driver side rear light fitting, scotchlock a wire to the grey and white wire at the left end of the car connector block (there are six wires on this connector block) On the passenger side rear light connector block, there are five wires (a gap where the grey and white wire is absent). Secure the scotchlocked wire into this gap. Reconnect, secure and hide extra wire. Job done. Ensure ignition and lights are turned off whilst doing the wiring. If you bodge it, it's your fault! Anyone know where to get a spare 5A mini fuse?
  12. Can anyone be a bit more precise as to what colour wires to connect. The loom has about six wires going into the light unit. Which colour controls the rear fog? Thanks
  13. I automatically thought there were two. If the lamp unit is present but not wired up, could someone shed some light (!) as to how to wire it? Thanks
  14. I had an SMax for a short while with front (and rear) sensors. Both were activated by engaging reverse, and stopped working above about 10 mph. The fronts could be a pain in traffic, but there was a button on the dash to de-activate them. Fronts and rears also had different frequencies - very useful in tight parking.
  15. Didn't know whether to post it on the ICE forum or here, so I'll try here first. Anyone got any experience of the above with the DX SatDav unit on an '05 Superb? I'd like to hide the IPod away in the glovebox. Supposedly the Icenlink 400 preserves CD changer function via a slide switch to select Ipod or changer and give basic track information on screen. FW and Rev can be selected via the steering wheel. I've heard some dodgy stories about Dension and wonder whether anyone has first hand knowledge. The Icelink is about
  16. What's the best method of de-badging? Thin twine behind the badge and then some TCut to clear off any excess adhesive? Any advice gratefully received.
  17. Had a chance to try them in the rain today - work perfectly, no judder, sweep cleanly If I can stand going in there again, I'll buy another pair on Monday. Thanks for the advice on the wheel wrench though. Why is the place full up with stuff that you never knew you needed, e.g electric ashtray cleaner, dog hoover etc?
  18. Worth a try at under a fiver. Fit perfectly and have the built in spoiler (whatever that does). Not tried them in the rain as yet! Lots of other junk in store e.g. boot tidy, non slip boot mat, etc etc, plus extendable wheel wrench for
