  1. Sure, no problem. Those 3 pictures should give you an idea on how it looks like. The rear camera is not visible from the outside of the car but well visible in the rearview mirror. All the wiring runs under the roof liner and the pilar mounts. Skoda charged me 250EUR for the installation. IMHO Money definitely well spent. A+ Lionel
  2. If only it were fitted in standard with a rear view camera .... ... but this is very minor, akin complaining about the ashtray color. Even the VR6 powered one flies under the radar, allows you to shop for and bring home whatever you wish at Ikea, plus such a long distance and agile car on the road. This car is really a blast to own and to drive.
  3. It seems doable with some coding on the SS3 There seem to be an even nicer trick for all Kessy equiped cars. As soon as the key leaves the car, it locks itself automatically https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/golf-mk7-vcds-tweaks.314861/page-24#post-6507286 Ross-tech has some further explanations. https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/19793/ Thus it can also be used to lock automatically the car when exiting it and engine switched off ;-)
  4. Thanks but the car is not a Bristish one, thus it is under a different legal system. Thus in Scandinavia, Switzerland (basically European countries with very cold Winters), it is customary to start the car parked in front of the house and leave the engine running for a few minutes in the morning while the car is locked. Hence my question ;-)
  5. Hello, sometimes I have to go outisde of the car for a few minutes while the engine is running. I would feel more comfortable knowing that nobody can drive away with it if it were locked. Thus, I would like to know if there is a way (why shouldn't there be one?) to lock the car from the outside while the engine is running. I have the kessy option, but tried both to touch the locking pad on the door's handle as well as press the lock button on the keyfob to no avail. Has anyone a tip to share?
  6. My understanding is that it could be possible to purchase directly from the manufacturer or to import it from a dealer in Poland. https://avisa.pl/en/rear-bumper-protectors-black-steel/ From my experience it is really dependable and manufactured to very high quality standards thus worth the effort Could be a possiblity. Like they say: if it seems stupid but it works, then it is not stupid. What do fellow members think of the idea?
  7. Here are the pictures (sorry car bumper lid not very clean, Winter look) As you can see, it protects the bumper very well and looks good too. I am curious to see how the protector would look like on your VW Grey car
  8. Yes, I'll post pictures tomorrow :-) Plastic one, I had on a peugeot 307SW, yeurk! The neighbohr also has a plastic one fitted on its Volvo V50. Problem is that, although they are cheap, after a few years of abuse they really look bad. While those metal ones still look great (this may also why they can usually be found on higher end vehicles) like XC90 or X5 as stock mount As for low key or high key, it all depends. I would say that the dark metal will look tough on your car :-) Just a matter of taste of course. Thus, even if the total cost was about 100EUR, the saying that "Cost is long forgotten but quality stays" is very true.
  9. I own the same car model and can tell that the shape is different (which I discovered after ordering the same one as you). In the end I purchased one from Poland via a company called car parts experts ( https://www.carparts-expert.com/shop/skoda-superb-ii-combi-3t-2013-2015-wagon-rear-bumper-protector-stainless-steel-black-detail.html?redirected=147 ) I selected a dark one so to be low key and match with the car black colour. https://avisa.pl/en/rear-bumper-protectors-brushed-steel/ It is of a much better quality (good metal) than the one you mention. __BUT__ you will need to purchase a separate bottle of 3M degreaser because the small wipe which ships with the protector is not enough. https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/manufacturers/3m_/3m_08984_general_purpose_adhesive_cleaner_1_litre_P30084.html Also keep in mind that you only have one try when you fit it or it won't stay. It has been on my car for a little bit more than a year and performs as advertised. Really a good investment. Right now it is dark outside, thus will take a picture tomorrow for you to see how it looks like after more than one year of usage. Hope this helps
  10. Hello, As the technology moves forward to equip our cars with added level of security , I would like to know if fellow members have successfully retrofitted HUD Display (I don't know if the current Skoda HUD display can be retrofitted on our the SS2) as well as Thermal night vision cameras on the cars. I am pretty interested to know what the adopted solutions are as well as any long term feedback on them. As our cars use standard modules communicating over the CANbus, I am pretty sure, the SS2 can evolve well beyond its original specsheet. Some years ago a Mercedes car enthusiast retrofitted these on his car and the results were pretty impressive to say the least (others video also interesting) https://mbworld.org/forums/clk55-amg-clk63-amg-w208-w209/497147-megacrazy-s-build-thread-5.html Cheers :-)
  11. Rear Diff is in a similar situation as the front one. The front diff is in the same enclosure as the DSG.The rear diff is in the same as the Haldex. This is why the works quoted "Vorn + Hinten": Front + Rear. Updated the Haldex service interval , I misstyped 60'000 when it is actually 30'000km (well at least this is how often I do it)
  12. 40'000 is a little bit more than 60'000km but there are 2 things you do not take into account: - Their job is to sell you cars which means that the sooner your car dies, the better. But not too soon or you may switch to another brand ;-) As an example they do not mention anywhere changing the oil in the differentials, or they just mention oil change but no filter change in the Haldex This will lead to premature wear and failure of these elements. - It is the maximum interval. As for everything maintenance related, the sooner the better. Then comes the chemistry: the fluids by themselves deteriorate over time. Hence the 5 years limit. It is just basic chemistry and physics Then comparing the price to perform preventive maintenance and the cost to replace failed parts, it is a no-brainer. I stick to: - Engine oil every year or 10'000 km - DSG every 40'000 km - Haldex every 30'000 km - Spark plugs every 100'000 km - Timing chain at 150'000 km - Always leave the engine idling for a 2 to 3 minutes before driving when starting the car in the morning and when switching it off. Even if it uses more fuel, it will last much longer and thus be less expensive in the long run. - .... Your mileage may vary and, after all you decide what is the best way for you to spend your own hard earned money ;-)
  13. Well, I beg to disagree. DSG oil and filters have to be changed every 40'000km. 60'000km / every 5 years at the max. As for Haldex, it is a Gen 4 Haldex and the VW group service procedures are wrong: the oil __AND__ the filters have to be changed. As the oilf filter does not appear in their database, I purchased one and brought it with me. https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/guide-generation-4-haldex-trouble-shooting/ On my car, I had the rear __AND__ front differential oil changed. Keep in mind that the the front differential is located in the same unit as the DSG but it uses a different oil (Öl arsantrieb vorn+hinten) I had it serviced by Skoda Germany, also did the engine oil and spark plugs. In the attached doc you will find the items lists (in German of coursse) as well as their VAG group reference numbers. They did a very good job Hope this helps.
  14. What about retrofitting rear dynamic turn signals? As the estate rear turn signal indicator is a spot shaped this is not the right location for such an indicator. I am thinking about the tailgate window lower part as a possible location. As for where to source the indicator from, there are already available for some cars in the VAG group (VW, Audi). Of course there is some wiring rerouting involved. Has anyone an opinion on this ?
