Ignition coil plugs
Good afternoon everyone. After doing several ignition coil changes ( I now am using Bosch ones instead of the cheapest available) I have noticed that the plugs are not securely attaching to the coils themselves. I have seen replacement plugs on eBay as pictured and am wondering if it would be possible to remove the connectors with wires from the old plugs and simply refit them into the new casings. I do have a set of connectors removal tools so hopefully this can be done without damaging the wiring. Thank you in advance.

Sidelights not working
Hello everyone. Hopefully you can help confirm cause of the issue. The sidelights don't come on when switch is in the sidelights position, the work on dipped and main beam and when using the parking lights function. As the fuse (23) is intact I am assuming it's a faulty switch, can anyone confirm this or suggest a way of testing before I fork out for a new switch Thanks in advance

Cold running issues.
Thank you for getting back to me, I had major engine work done not long ago due to a stretched timing chain which involved having the top end inspected so I will assume that the garage would have spotted any valve issues, I will get new plugs and give it a major service and see if it improves things.

Cold running issues.
The engine is the 12 valve 3 cylinder 1.2. 2013 registration. My bad forgot to say that 😁

Cold running issues.
Hello everyone, hopefully someone can help me with this issue. Starting from cold is difficult, rough running and random fault codes with both emc and engine management lights on, usually either crankshaft sensor fault or cylinder misfire fault codes. However once the engine is up to temperature it starts easily and runs well, if fault codes are cleaned with the engine warm and a rescan done no codes are found. My hunch is the water temperature sensor, could this be what's causing this. The blue temperature light seems to function correctly and the aftermarket water temp gauge shows normal operating temperature.

OEM ignition coils
I bought the car at 3 years old and original coils lasted around 80,000 miles. The Hella coils fail at random intervals. Change spark plugs at yearly intervals.

OEM ignition coils
The plugs last between the service intervals. Code reader says misfire on a cylinder and changing the coil always fixes the problem.

OEM ignition coils
Hello everyone, Quick question, does anyone know the make of the factory fitted ignition coils for the 2013 1.2 3 cylinder engine. When I bought the car the original coils lasted years, the replacement Hella ones don't seem to last very long before failure. Diagnostic testing at a garage has found no other faults on the ignition system.

Learn from my experience please.
If you have the 3 cylinder 1.2 engine have the oil pump and the one way valve in the oil filter housing checked and if nessacery replaced if you have the timing chain replaced. Also at the slightest rattle sound from the engine have the chain tensioners checked. A £1600 engine overhaul is a slightly bitter pill to swallow.

Slipped timing chain
I'm sure it is the single cam version, so fingers crossed that the valves are all ok

Slipped timing chain
Yes it is the 1.2 3 cylinder engine

Slipped timing chain
Hello everyone I have recently had the misfortune of a major engine issues. One morning it refused to start and would eventually run very roughly. Fault scan returned faulty camshaft sensor. After replacing the sensor made no difference I called the RAC out. The patrolman diagnosed a slipped or stretched timing chain and said not to try running the engine until it's repaired. Does anyone know if the slipped / stretched chain would result in damage to the valves , I intend to get garage who replaced an earlier chain 40,000 miles ago to do the work. Last time the engine ran ok but only in limp home mode. I thank in advance for any help received.

Oil pressure switch
My car has the 1.2 3 cylinder engine. The wiring looks ok on the switch. It went off for a while yesterday but is on again today, still good pressure showing on the gauge.

Oil pressure switch
Hello everyone, I have my oil pressure warning light illuminated, there is enough oil in the engine and the oil pressure gauge shows 40-50 psi of pressure. Also engine sounds fine running,do you agree with my thought that the pressure sensor is kaput?

Reverse switch faulty?
Firstly I apologise for not getting back sooner. Before disconnection of the reverse light switch ( waiting for a dry day) I had further issues with the battery warning light coming on despite the voltmeter I have fitted showing no issues. Once the switch was disconnected all faults have cleared, I am currently looking for a replacement switch at a reasonable price.

Reverse switch faulty?
Hello everyone, My reversing sensor operates randomly while in forward gears and neutral, also the rear wiper also runs on intermittent when front wipers are on even if the stalk switch is in the off position, thirdly on the digital display the current gear number goes on and off, My gut feeling is that the reverse switch on the gearbox is faulty, has anyone had this happen to them and what did the fault turn out to be? Thank you in advance.

Auxiliary gauge mounting.
Thank you for your answers, At the moment my actual gauges are mounted in the radio space above a single din stereo, I fancy an upgrade but all the really good stereos are double din.

Auxiliary gauge mounting.
Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any MOT testers on here who can let me know if mounting gauges on top of the dashboard in the centre would prevent the MOT pass for windscreen obstruction. They would be in a pod like the one shown. ( Old gauges for reference). Thanks in advance.

Electric windows problem.
Hi everyone. All successfully repaired, great to have the windows and heated mirrors working again. Hardest bit was using a manual rivitter to refit the speaker. Thank you again for all the help I received.🙂.

Electric windows problem.
I got it from either Lidl or Aldi last week, can't remember which. It's great now I am used to using it, I would recommend getting some 1.0mm solder to use with it.

I would have never found it without all your help, I can't thank you enough.

Electric windows problem.
Hello everybody breezy Pete, you were correct after all, the wiring was indeed broken badly further along the loom, It's so bad I decided to remove the loom from the door and repair it on the workbench. Only good thing is that I get to use the new soldering station I bought last week.

Electric windows problem.
I just moved the boot and had a look at the wiring. I expect that the passenger switch is ok as it gets nowhere near as much use. To be honest I am better with mechanical things than electrics, Very grateful for all the advice I have received about this issue.

Electric windows problem.
Hi, I was using an electronic test meter to check if the wiring was intact. Although there was no visible damage at the plug inside the bellows it was possible to have damaged wiring inside the door. My testing seems to show that the wiring is intact. I am just thinking that at ten pounds it is worth getting another switch, If it turns out not to be the switch I will have a spare ready for the inevitable day when the switch does pack up.
